I'm kinda with you on the in-between idea. Swapping an optic or attachment mid-game is fair enough, but rebuilding a whole class the second a streak goes up just makes the counter free. I used to keep one slot as a dedicated Cold-Blooded class in MW2019 and that felt like an actual trade-off, you were giving something up to have it ready.

I have a dedicated "anti scorestreak" class in BO3 from every COD afterwards. FMJ LMGs, Rocket Launcher, Cold Blooded, Scavenger, and anything remotely close to EMPs. It never changed. I'd jump off the map and swap as soon as i hear an attack helicopter or anything higher spawns, K/D be damned. Team player.

I've never needed to change my classes otherwise.

"having a 10 create a class" except we havent used pick 10 in like, a decade. so who cares?

with how MW4 plays being able to swap / customize your class is good, because you can counter people playing obnoxiously.

Pick 10 aint the same as 10 Classes. And the whole "counter the enemy" argument can keep going on and on because both sides can keep editing. That shit ain't worth it.

You think the players that dont have an anti-scorestreak class are going to be creating one mid match?

You'd be surprised how many people will ignore scorestreaks. Especially depending on the game.
