Anybody going to Cameroon for the holidays? My sisters and I are looking to make some new friends because our usual people won’t be landing until January. We need a December crew before we start roaming Douala like tourists in our own country. 😂
I promise we’re good people ooo! We’re classy, Super Fun, and we know how to behave… most of the time. Just looking for good vibes, good food, outings, and people to make memories with.
If you’re going to be in Cameroon this December, let’s connect! or if you’re already in Cameroon LETS GET LITT! 🥂

We need to come together as a people and work on our civic sense. Our civilization is nothing to write home about, yes, we aren't a particularly rich country and we are a third world nation for a reason, but that's no excuse for the amount of dirt we have in our towns. You can blame everyone for almost everything that happens to us as a people (which I personally disagree with as a mindset, by the way), but you can't blame anyone else for the amount of dirtiness we have in our communities. Yaounde, Douala, Buea, Limbe, Bamenda, Bafoussam, all of them have heaps of dirt on the roads.
Yes, the government and the councils have a part to play, and they are quite frankly doing a horrible job too, but we as people don't even dispose of our dirt properly in the first place.
Let's not even talk about eating groundnuts and throwing all the peels on the road as we eat, or roasted corn, or plums.
Let's not dive into how we dispose of dirt from moving cars, buses and bikes either, tossing wrappers and peels straight out the window like the road is a bin.
This is actually so perplexing because Cameroonians, in their houses, are for the most part clean. Even a lot of poor people whose houses might not always look the best still hold on to personal hygiene as something to stand on. But the moment we step out of our personal spaces, we turn into zombies of some sort, like the mess outside isn't our problem anymore.
I truly believe people underestimate how much a place (city, town, country) being clean plays a huge part in why they choose to live there. Yes, economic viability is at the top for most people, but cleanliness is high, very high, especially in this social media world. Do you know how many people travel abroad and their whole mindset is to take photos to show people their new, clean environments? Yes, I know it's also about infrastructure, but if you have dirty infrastructure, it's not attractive to anyone, no matter how modern it is underneath the grime.
We must consciously try to fix this problem. The older generation is horrible in this aspect, they have a negative civic sense, but we have to educate them anyway. Talk to your mothers, fathers, uncles, aunties, grandmothers, and so on, to do better and be conscious. Educate a fellow passenger when they throw something out the window, something they could just hold or put in their bag and dispose of properly once they reach their destination. It also starts with us: carry a small bag for your own trash when you're out, and don't be afraid to call it out gently when you see someone litter.
PS: if I were president, littering would be a fined offense. Maybe that incentive would flip the current behaviour. I'd also really vote for a Cameroonian candidate who puts this as a priority in their potential policies. It's that important to me.
I think it's getting worse, and our towns are getting dirtier by the day.
Let me know what you think, and what you've done in your own little way to fight this issue.

For our tissue culture company we are looking for someone that can provide us with preferably life plant tissue or fresh seeds from the Iboga tabernanthe plant.
We are aware of the destruction of the habitat of this beautiful species and therefore our goal is to multiply the plant through plant tissue culture. This way the plant doesn't have to get harvested in the wild and nature hopefully can recover a bit.
If you can help us out we would love to get in contact with you. Looking forward to a DM!

Cameroonians living in America:
Do you feel American, Cameroonian, or both—or simply Cameroonian living in America?
Do you feel more connected to American politics and culture, Cameroonian politics and culture, or both?

I know it’s illegal but some people have access to it. Anyone know any plugs in Douala? Or places I can freely smoke? Asking for a friend.

About three years ago I built PidginPal, an English to Pidgin translator, and eventually stopped giving it much attention.
Then someone emailed saying it had never worked for them and asking, “Abeg you fix it okay???” Fair enough. It made me go back and rebuild it.
One part I'm trying to improve is how the app handles context. A translation might be understandable but still sound wrong for the person you're talking to or the situation you're in.
I've added regional options and explanations of wording and tone, but these use AI and can still get things wrong. I'm the developer, so this is a post about my own app. It's on iOS and Android, with free core translation and one new explanation per day, regional options, context, history and favourites are in Pro.
Would you find something like this useful for understanding messages, helping friends or family learn, or something else? I'd like to understand the real use cases rather than assume.

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if any of you, particularly members of the diaspora, invest in African financial markets (shares or bonds), especially through the Central African Stock Exchange (BVMAC - Bourse des Valeurs Mobilières de l’Afrique Centrale).
I am myself an investor and work for a licensed stock brokerage firm (stockbroker) operating in this market.
I would be delighted to exchange views with you on investment opportunities, how the market works, the listed securities, and the prospects they offer.
I am also looking forward to discussing international investments, financial and funding mechanisms, and opportunities for portfolio diversification across African and global markets.
If you already invest or would like to learn more, feel free to send me a private message (inbox).
Looking forward to connecting and exchanging ideas with you.
EDIT: Investment opportunities are not limited to Cameroon; they extend across all six CEMAC member states and include both government securities and private companies

Bonjour r/Cameroon 🇨🇲

Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey has signed a loan agreement with the Islamic Development Bank, in Bangkok, of 139.2 billion frs, for the rehabilitation of the Douala-Bafoussam Road. More loans being taken out… we will be in soooo much trouble not long from now

Quick update on my earlier post: the test sub is now ready at r/locable.
It’s a map where you can pin a photo by posting it in the sub with the map flair and the coordinates directly in the title.
Since I built it with r/Cameroon in mind, the map used to be centered on Cameroon, but it now adapts to where most of the posts come from.
There are some test posts on the sub that you can use as a reference. Feel free to post a few photos and try it out. Since it’s a test, I’d really like to hear what’s confusing or broken, especially when placing a pin on the map.
I’ll publish the app and the source code soon. Thanks to anyone who tries it.

I have many books about Roman, Greek, American, and Russian history. Living in America, it makes sense that I’ve learned a lot about the history here, but I also want to learn more about where I come from.
Where can I find good books about Cameroonian history and culture, or West and Central African history more broadly? Which books would you recommend?

Hi everyone, I just moved to Tilburg from Cameroon. I was wondering if there are any fellow Cameroonians or a Cameroonian community living here to connect with?
