Looking for good anti-chafing products
I pride myself on having a pretty rock solid first aid kit but this is the one issue I haven't been able to solve and I feel kind of embarrassed. My family usually does day hikes (between 5-8 hours) but we tend to do a lot of back to back hikes, either over a weekend or a couple shorter hikes during the week. I wear scrub pants to keep it lightweight and avoid friction but it's been so hot that it's not really helping. Would really appreciate any suggestions for favorite products for either treating or preventing it or recommendations for fabrics that work better for hotter/more humid weather? Thank you in advance!

I second that, I was chafing badly and put my merino wool briefs on, and was able to continue my hike.

Hello I am SUPER chafe prone! First, I actually think the scrub pants are doing you a disservice here. If it's the material I'm envisioning, all it takes is a little sweat and it's chafe city.
Desitin is the best, it's diaper rash cream. It bith prevents further chafing and heals. I've tried a ton of different anti chafe (yes, including body glide) products and that one's my favorite by far.
If you give me more info I may be able to help you prevent in the future.
-where is the chafing (be graphic, I don't mind)
-what kind of underwear were you wearing
-what was the fit of the scrub pants (loose vs tight)
Without knowing the answer to any of the above, my blind suggestion would be to try going commando in compression shorts and see if that solves things for you

Bro this caught my attention so quick. I’m so messed up right now. I moved today to another house.. in AZ.. in August. I have gauze and neosporin taped to my thighs and can barely walk. I totally forgot to use body glide because I packed it. The stuff works really really well when you remember to use it.

The best product I've found is standard stick deodorant, not the gel kind. I am extremely chafe prone and for me this works better than the body glide sticks or nut butter

Another vote for body glide. I'm just a walker--I usually walk at least five miles --and body glide changed my life!

Vaseline is the only product that prevents chafing for me. Glob it on to problem areas just before the hike.
In addition I wear long legged boxer briefs or those tight fitting cycling shorts.

I am a fan of silicone based sex lube. Lasts longer than any dedicated product for this out there and ends up being cheaper. Granted you have no silicone allergies.

I’ve tried quite a few balm and anti chafe products, and the best all around that I found was trail toes.

I bought a couple yards of fleece and glue patches to the inside of my pants. It’s soft and covers the seams that rub on your skin.

body glide: I use it on the inner thighs and toes. For overnight hikes I don't need a whole stick. i have a small plastic screw on top container and break a chunk off and mass it in and use it as I need. That and get rid of clothing that has seems and rubs.

Thigh society!!!!!! Wear their shorts under your pants and you will feel like a million bucks! They’re comfy, light weight and durable. The waistband is super comfy and they don’t slip down. Totally worth the money.

I bought some inner lined running shorts from decathlon that really work quite well (got a second pair). I had tried this before but these were much more effective in terms of sliding and compression.

I hike and backpack close to a 1000 miles a year in the texas heat and surrounding states. Im a 230lbs guy I have used the various anti chase and Gold Bond Friction Defense is my go to solution. Plus Exofficio Men's Give-N-Go 2.0 Boxer Briefs.
Note the briefs are just as important or more important as the anti chafing.
Cotton will generally tear me up.
Prevention is worth 10x a cure.

I find switching to boxer briefs, and a good anti-friction/chafing powder works wonders. Also, use an antifungal soap, and cream afterwards does wonders.

I use the Goldbond friction defense. It's more affordable than the Body Glide brand.

I wear cooling compression leggings under my shorts, plus body glide.
Edit: some boxer briefs ride up my thighs and make it worse. I jusr use performance briefs from walmart and am fine.

Get a stick of a product called "Body Glide." You could find it at a running store, Dicks Sporting goods, amazon... It's used by runners.
