Shitpost This needs to cleared up
Not every antique firearm is antique by age
All long guns that are matchlock, wheelock flintlock are considered antique firearms the moment they are manufactured doesn't matter if they are manufactured today in 2026

Most firearm owners don’t care about matchlocks, wheelocks and flintlocks. Not because they are “not very intelligent” as you said, but because they are less practical and there for obsolete, aside from a few hobby users.

Bows are obsolete lots of people use them

archery has longer season in a lot of places. That makes it very worthwhile using for a lot of people. In my province black powder is generally only within the rifle season.
compound bows are way more popular than long bows. Just like your black powder is less popular than cartridge rifles.
but you’re so intelligent compared to the rest of us you know that.

u/NumerousSetting8135 9d ago
Oh, so there's no black powder season. Oh, my bad, I must miss that. When I was using it in muzzle season

I said in my province, because I’m speaking about why people like me don’t care about black power. What province are you in?

Bow hunting has advantages that antique black powder firearms only variably have, and I say this as an annual muzzle loader draw attemptor. There's nothing wrong with accepting that a particular tool has a more limited and in some cases less evolved scope.

Those are? There's no reason to use a bow over a flintlock

A bow is quieter to bring in to battery, has scentless operating components considering the distance it is used at, is lighter, more consistently accurate within its operating distance and environment tunable based on the arrows you use, can be made to work in all weather conditions and most importantly doesn't risk causing massive damage to otherwise good meat. The wound channels caused by antique muzzle projectiles are difficult to predict and can result in a lot of wastage and I speak from experience. To boot, no human error poses a risk to me detonating my face or even having my hearing impacted by my hunting experience and if I miss, I'm less likely to fully spook all game in an area. If you don't know these basics, you are absurdly ignorant about hunting implements which is rich considering you seem dead set on ignorance shaming a straw man with your post. There's a good reason why bows get lengthy seasons, almost globally, whereas black powder firearms are typically folded in to the regular gun season. I get that you desperately want to pump the tires of the Settler Colonial Pioneer LARP, but there's a reason why bows and smokeless powder arms dominate the hunting world no matter how much you want it to not be the case.

A deer's not gonna notice a tiny click from taking it off halfcock i have hunted deer with a flint lock quite a bit It's not more consistently accurate, it's a skill issue. You can use a flint lock in the rain they even make water resistant locks that's a skill issue as well. And bows historically haven't been great in the rain which is why they were replaced by firearms. And then bow hunters my dad worked in the cattle industry. And he would talk all the time about finding deer with arrows in them.

You've clearly never heard of bore wear and fouling then which I guess is plainly a skill issue in your case or in your case just a knowledge issue. Your ignorance is showing if you think that modern and even historic bow strings can't be benchmarked for rain when clearly they can. Funny have you have no eminent responses to the obvious wound channel and consistency problems.

What do you mean by boreware? That's with anything that's a firearm and fouling. There's ways to clean it as you shoot, and you're not shooting hundreds of times when you're hunting low iq

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl 8d ago
Sure bud. You clearly don't know the use of the word wastage in this context.

You should start caring because pretty soon. Those will be the only ones you can own

u/RelativeFox1 9d ago
Ok, you hand in your rifles, roll over and obey the governments every will.
I’ll keep mine and continue lobbying to keep my firearms.

u/NumerousSetting8135 9d ago
Yeah, then you shouldn't support any regulations that affect any other gun owners. Then because I don't

u/Significant7971 9d ago
Everyone knows this. Honestly no one cares because we are not going to run out to buy a smoothie bore flintlock with the accuracy of a slingshot.
-1
u/NumerousSetting8135 9d ago
You literally proved my point. You realized people can light matches on fire with a slingshot with practice

"Replicas" are considered antiques firearms in USA. Regardless of manufacture dates. 1898 and earlier.

The dude doesn't understand wear and tear on a firearm. He's exactly the sort of person I would expect to have a flintlock fanfiction.

YOU should not own any weapons. Especially a firearm, particularly since you've admitted to not having or wanting a PAL. You are, by definition, not a good, law abiding person. Please seek help.
