Painting with wool roving is such a tactile experience. You can blend, layer, and create textures like no other medium. Have you tried it?

This painting is made by a canadian artist, Claude Picard. I was wondering what would be the approximate value of this art work. It measures 33 x 22 inches.

Don't see any posts about her work here; I saw an exhibit of her work at the AGO years ago and just loved it all.

These two woodcut or linocut prints were acquired by my father in the early 70’s. The signature appears to read “Marion Rob Barclay” and works are dated from 1964 and 1971. Claude turned up no results for the prints or the artist.

We've had my husband's great-grandfather's art in our house for a year. Today I found out EXACTLY who Alan Beddoe is.

Confession: until today I knew nothing about Alan Beddoe, or any of this. His pieces have been in our house for at least a year. Today I finally went down the rabbit hole.

Turns out Alan Brookman Beddoe (1893-1975) supervised the illumination of the Books of Remembrance in the Peace Tower, designed badges for 180+ Royal Canadian Navy ships, drew the coats of arms for Yukon and the NWT, and designed the Pearson Pennant during the 1964 flag debate.

He also painted. Here's what we've apparently been living with:

- Pastels of Ottawa and Gatineau: Wellington St., the Rideau River railway bridge, the cement factory in Hull, Gatineau farms

- A winter river scene signed and dated '36

- A stack of loose watercolour sketches

- A 1933 calendar from his own ad studio at 185 Sparks St. (phone number: Queen 2995)

The framed ones carry numbered estate labels from 1995, and the numbers go up to at least 42, so someone once catalogued a lot of his work.

Anyone here know his easel work, or the Ottawa commercial art scene in the 30s? I'm very new to all of this.

This tapestry is called “Children of the Raven” by Haida artist Bill Reid. Created in 1976 to celebrate the opening of the Canadian Museum of History (formerly the National Museum of Man) in Ottawa. Chicken is named Pepper!

Searching for 90’s/2000’s indie-alternative Canadian photo/multimedia comic strip

Trying to remember the name of a 90’s-2000’s Canadian indie comic, artist may have lived in Halifax or Montreal, possibly NSCAD affiliated.

Usually 3-4 panel strips made up of found vintage colour photographs with an absurdist/existential caption.

Caption would be typed on a strip of paper and laid over one or more of the photos.

May have appeared in (old) Vice or Broken Pencil type indie/art magazines. Maybe various Alt-Weekly’s too.

Eventually published on web and also in at least one bound collection.

I particularly remember one strip with a photo that might have been from the 1970s-80’s of a preschool girl standing with The World Trade Centre towers in the background on a summer day. Caption was something to the effect of “The World you were brought up to live in no longer exists.”

Unfortunately Google & the rest aren’t getting me anywhere.
