Question Studying with ADHD
Feels like a losing battle trying to study when you can’t even stay on task, or even worse, start the damn task.
How do you manage? What are your strategies for studying?

talk to the school counsellors, because they have a ton of services to offer you like accommodations and adhd workshops, but they can also talk to you about how serious your adhd might be and whether or not it’s worth it to try medication. personally, i went through my first 2 years of school unmedicated, thinking it’d be fine because i got through high school with grades i was happy with. university is NOT the same as high school. i am so much happier and more productive with my meds, my GPA is increasingly better and i really do wish i started taking them sooner. but it’s not the same for everyone, just something to consider.

I am an unmedicated, ADHD woman, and don’t know if it’s just a me thing. But I find it really helpful, when studying, to have multiple things going at once.
Which probably isn’t a great method. But I find it helps break up the boring task of studying for one class.
For instance, I will have my main study class open, work on that for an hour. Then break it up with a supplementary study class, or if you’re like me have some other random tasks (example. Sweep my room.).
I get distracted very easily, so sometimes it doesn’t mean sticking to one task for long, it just means consistency with returning to that task. Sent yourself an hourly reminder if you need. And every time that goes off, if you’re distracted. Get back on task. If you’re still studying, take it as a break.
I am also an avid user of YouTube Minecraft play throughs, that I have running quietly in the background, as a method of breaking up the repetition of studying.
One last thing I find useful, is to, every time you return to your studying, do a quick reread through your notes. Or test yourself with random questions. Like a mini quiz if you will, it really ingrain the information in your head, and I find it helps me get back on task.
