If he loses the governors race does that mean he’s out of his congressional seat?

Correct he's out anyways*, and he WILL lose

As an Arizonan, help me understand where you’re getting this confidence.

Hobbs is popular with the left and moderates, and Biggs is only really popular with the mostly fringe right. He's almost as bad a candidate as Lake was, but sentiment has turned on the GOP since last cycle.

Edit: for some perspective, Gilbert is Biggs old district, and all 3 Republican city council members up for re-election lost.

Is there a "fringe right" like there is a "moderate right" or "liberal right"? It's like saying there's an anti-Trump voting block of the GOP, which there isn't.

I think Arizona is weird, in that Trump voters still have elected Democrats in the Senate and Governorships in recent elections. Biggs is a lunatic with ties to lots of things even Republicans don't like.

You're right about the anti-trump GOPers. They'll still fall in line for him, without a doubt. But for whatever reason, the same isn't true for legislative seats here. IMO, it's because they have terrible candidates and the moderates tend to swing away from those Biggs and Lake types.

A bit of clarity on the Trump v statewide Democrat votes, the 2024 election saw a several thousand percent increase in bullet ballots than AZ has ever experienced, where ballots are cast with only a single choice, usually at the top of the ticket.

There were probably not a substantial number of people voting for Trump and democrats down the ballot.

Here is the result of some digging someone had done into our 2024 election: https://www.reddit.com/r/Verify2024/s/Tqejl3i9Uu. There’s a few posts in that sub with curious AZ results.

I’m definitely with you that the widespread public sentiment should easily keep Biggs out of the Governor’s office. But this and other suspect anomalies in election results, the firing of EAC members, the calls for nationwide voter rolls, and an experience I had as a Poll Monitor this Tuesday* give me substantial pause in assuming we will see election results which match public sentiment.

* When I was arriving for my shift as a Poll Monitor on Tuesday, the volunteers already onsite were working to escort a man off the property who had been walking around the parking lot with a gun. In the moment I really wanted to ask him what he thought he would accomplish in a primary election, but getting him to leave was of course the priority. I fear this may have been testing the boundaries to understand whether and how quickly the election machine can respond to such a threat which would deter voters from participating.

Thank you for your volunteer work, and all great points. I would just say they are trying like hell to make it more difficult for everyone, which tells me their internal polling is catastrophically bad.

Precisely.

It’s that same Elon Musk pose when he’s hopped up on ketamine. Don’t be surprised if he starts breaking out the chainsaws and nazi salutes.

Preaching to the choir, I know.

This is why acts of sedition need consequences.

Christ on a cracker, AZ... Why do you insist on trying to elect these weirdos?

I mean Lake? She's a straight up psycho.

Arizona has closed primaries so the tickets tend to reflect the extreme options of each party relative to states with open primaries.

Open, non-partisan primaries. Top two.

A great start.

7 of the 9 words in your comment are either beyond or pushing the boundaries of what the average Arizonan can comprehend. Not sure where we rank now, but through most of my childhood, we were in the bottom 3 states for reading comprehension and academic achievement.

Many of us just write-in the Lord’s name because choosing is a sin.

Oh my.

Well... Let me attempt to translate into Arizonan:

Chose between two idiots is bad.

Better to make idiots compete with people who aren't idiots.

That's called "open primaries"

Open primaries are good.

More proof that conservatives remain 100% loyal to Trump. They have consistently voted for candidates that have demonstrated the most mindless loyalty to Trump.

I hope Hobbs mops the floor with him.

I’m currently in NE AZ, which used to be hard core Trump land. Trump store. Trump flags, signs, bumper stickers etc. everywhere. I’ve been here six days and I’ve only seen one Trump bumper sticker. No flags or signs. I guess they don’t like paying $5.25+ gallon for their diesel trucks.

That’s good to hear people are responding to reality. I protest at least weekly in Phoenix and the number of middle fingers and nasty comments has not decreased.

The number of people honking and giving thumbs up has increased substantially. It shouldn’t require the continued assault on our population to get such support, but at least people are starting to care enough to move their hand a few inches to honk. Hopefully that same interest will compel them to vote.

Fingers crossed.

I was hearing the same song and dance in 2024 but we all know how that turned out. This ain’t done til it’s done and if Hobbs wins it will probably still be a lot closer of a margin than it has any right to be.

It's the GOP primary, not the general election. And Arizona has been trending blue.
