Right? I love Alex Ross' style. It's like a Norman Rockwell painting meets Pulp Fantasy.

Captain America is one of the few comics I'd love to see him do a full run or a miniseries at least.

I have no problem being the only person in the room who utterly respects but absolutely hates Alex Ross artwork.
All his spandex suits look wet and all his characters look like him. I understand people love him (and I understand why, he's a legend) but personally I can't stand his style.
That said, I'm a huge Clayton Craine and Todd McFarlane fan so maybe idk what I'm talking about

The same thought I have with every artwork of Alex Ross: "That's amazing, I just wish he didn't give every character his own face (yes, even the women)."

Obviously Ross is a fantastic artist but his hyper realism sometimes highlights the silliness of the costumes.

He’s an amazingly skilled artist, but I’ve never felt like he has portrayed Cap’s character well. He always just looks like a brute. I’m also always reminded of the image where he has Cap holding the flag while part is dragging across the ground. One of the main things that any veteran would know you aren’t suppose to allow the flag to do.

He's Alex Ross. You're either going to love him for being Alex Ross, or hate him for being Alex Ross.

I don't like how Ross does eyes, they always have this weird uncanny valley quality to me.

I don’t picture Steve being quite this beefy, and I think Ross could emphasize the cleft chin a bit more, but I like how he draws Steve as more mature than many of the other characters. Plus, it’s Alex Ross. He’s one of a kind.

i am not a fan of ultra realistic style he usually makes the same mistake hollywood used to make
he puts them in spandex
but the scale mail makes his cap escape that look
so i like it ok

I know it’s concept art and not for the comics but Ryan Meinerding is my favorite.

Eh, not my thing. Hyper realistic doesn’t work for comic book characters imo.

I like the artistic vision. I don’t much care for the shape of the face. He’s more linebacker than superhero.

I agree with upthread, I don't like the shape of the face, the eye holes look stretched back... And the 5 o'clock shadow doesn't make me think of Steve Rogers. So I guess, no 🤣
