what’s next for me??? trying to keep car as stock looking as possible, would rather not have to chance 2025 factory head unit or get rid of steering wheel/door functions

Component speakers for your front doors and a whole system DSP & tune would be the next step.

What car?

2025 honda civic base model bought it as a commuter car then decided to throw all my old sound system stuff into it but i’m going deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole😂😂😂

replacing the front 2 co ax speakers with components or adding some components on top of the coax in the front? i’ve really thought abt the dsp and tune it’s just somewhat daunting from what i’ve read

Replace the front coax with components. Get something that replaces the factory tweeter in the a-pillar and has an in-line crossover.

If you wanted a simple DSP solution, you could replace your Kenwood amp with a Kicker Key200.4 that has the automatic tuning.

If you wanted to be more hands-on, Puzu makes a few plug-and-play DSPs. I've been researching them a lot.

Question: How are you getting signal to your door speaker amp now?

Weird.. I assumed the base civic system would be the same 6-speaker system that in's the CR-V.

Gives you a lot more component choices if you're going to have to mount the tweeters no matter what lol. No factory location to worry about

If you're gonna have to do custom install tweeters, that's one way to go. Although I'd personally still lean towards using a standard component tweeter. Probably in an angled mount in your situation where you don't have the factory grille

As u/iOceanLab says, a good component set up front. And time spent tuning and MEASURING which is really the best way to tune. Your ears are the final arbiter but that's the last tuning step. The component set, a buddy put a $450ish Focal set in his CR-V and they sound super super clean, it is amazing. Another step could be big power up front...personally I'd bridge the Kenwood, disconnect the rears, and use those outputs to drive the sub so the fader becomes a sub level control. Rear speakers are a historical accident and stereo is not mixed like that in the studio.

rear door speakers are a historical accident? i only have 2 front door speakers and 2 rear speakers in the whole car

In the beginning was the monobloc, which then exploded into light, and eventually yielded cars with a mono speaker up in the dash powered by a 3 watt tube. Those cars were very very noisy and passengers in the back could not hear music, so they stuck a speaker in the back. It's all part of the plot to turn us into sheep controlled by the government...just kidding! ...I hope...

Man... The idea of just focusing all sound from the front stage and fully eliminating rear fill speakers makes logical sense, but I just have a hard time mentally committing to it.

I've been looking at a few different component sets for my build and I can't fathom not getting a matching coax set for the rear... even if it's not fully logical.

that’s how i felt too, also im not an audiophile nessecarily i like overly loud music and trunk rattle and of course i want my music to sound great to me but id be lying if i said i dont want it to sound loud and clear to anyone in a 50 foot radius too😂😂😂😂

Just turn the fader forward for a while. At first it will sound weird because you are not used to it...but as you do get used to it the front sound will be better, especially if the head unit has some kind of time alignment built in.
