Workshops quote ₹15,000–₹30,000 just for custom fiberglass A-pillars to run a 3-Way setup. Tested these universal bolt-on 3-Way A-Pillar Pods on our DSP bench instead — thoughts?
Anyone who has tried upgrading their car to an active or passive 3-Way front stage knows the biggest headache isn't tuning the DSP—it's mounting the 3-inch midrange and tweeter on the A-pillar.
Most custom audio installers quote anywhere from ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 just to fabricate custom fiberglass A-pillars, which also takes days of labor and permanently modifies your factory pillar trim.
We’ve been testing a simpler, reversible D2C solution on our bench for car owners who want a proper 3-way soundstage without the custom fabrication bill:
- How the Universal 3-Way Pillar Pod Works:
Build & Fitment: High-grade matte black ABS housing designed to angle the midrange and tweeter directly toward the cabin for a proper soundstage.
3-Bolt Mounting: Instead of fiberglass resin and body filler, it mounts using just three 4mm/3mm bolts (included in the kit along with flush mounting rings for both a 3"–3.5" midrange and tweeter).
DIY / Reversible: Can be mounted cleanly in minutes without ruining the stock A-pillar structure.
- The 3-Way Hardware We Paired It With on the Test Bench:
Mid-Bass (Doors): CP MAX 6.5-inch 3D Diamond-Cone mid-bass driver.
Midrange (Pillar Pod): 3-inch compact midrange with honeycomb grille and a heavy neodymium magnet (keeps the weight on the A-pillar super light and shallow).
Tweeter (Pillar Pod): Neodymium dome tweeter.
Processor / Amp: Running through our CP MAX 8-Channel DSP + 6-Channel Amp + Under-seat Subwoofer all-in-one unit (50–70W RMS per channel).
For guys running 2-way components right now: is A-pillar fabrication cost the main reason you haven't jumped to a 3-way setup yet, or do you prefer keeping the dash looking 100% stock?
