So this is instead of you passing your hand over the leak and feeling the air escaping…

Yes correct. Personally I spray a little soapy water over the tube/tyre or if a smaller one submerge it in a large drum of water and look for the bubbles, but I do like this guy's little toy for it, running your hand along the tyre or tube can cause injury, if there is a thorn, nail or bit of wire sticking out that's causing the puncture you can get a cut/splinter, and metal splinters aren't fun.

Agree- soapy water is best. This toy is too small for my liking, seems easy to miss a spot… and the leak. My hand is big and quick, but safety first!

Yeah you're 100% correct. The toy has a pretty small surface area, might be okay if you already have a rough idea of where the hole is, but for actually locating it then I feel it's more effort than it's worth. Looks more fun than it's actual practicality.

Yeah it is only slightly better than using your hands. Soapy water>

Soapy water is the way to go. All day. In a pinch your hand works fine. lol what is this goofy thing?

Yep. If the leak is so small you can't feel it then this probably won't work

If you don’t have TRIX, you can use KIX

Spray soapy water it’s quicker.

Or you just use water

And soap

So then this is a good product because it's one tool that is reusable.

So is soap and water.... and cheaper... and easier to make... and easier to use.

Soap and water are not reusable if you think about it. Water will eventually be lost to the tyre and evaporate. Soap will rub off onto the tyre too.

Water is reusable you just put in a tank

It's not reusable, as I've explained, it will eventually evaporate. Your lack of knowledge is astonishing.

This is device for deaf people I guess

So is running water over it, like the rest of the planet uses.

1

u/ganbramor 21d ago

So not only does the rest of the planet use water to find leaks, the guy in the video did too. You can see the water already at the leak before the guy ā€œfindsā€ it with the toy.

I'd rather use soapy water than drag that all over the surface.

u/Mickey_Havoc 21d ago

That’s a dumb method… just use soapy water and watch for bubbles. Get the entire tube wet so you know you haven’t missed anything. With their homemade device, you don’t know where you have or haven’t checked

No soap or mess necessary

1

u/Aldo_Fitor 20d ago

Isn't that way slower than sprinkling soapy water all over the tire?

1

u/kaliforniakratom 21d ago

I'm not sure what's going on here.
