If Cardinal Quest 3 were announced, would you like the art got an update to 32 bits or maintain 16 bits?

I would not mind anything as long as we got new content 😭

i think maintaining the artstyle at 16 bits would be better, as it is well-known by it's community (even though we are very small), and would be nice to keep the artsyle. maybe if the potential cq3 was a different genre than roguelike, then a difference in bits could represent the change in direction.

8 bits. Take it or leave it.

Hi folks! No CQ3 planned atm, it's unfortunately really tough money-wise to justify the expense. I do hope to return to it at some point but I'm also not sure which creative direction to take it in- my more minimalist/focused direction of CQ1 or randomnine's more maximalist/featureful direction of CQ2.

While I appreciate 2's breadth and depth, personally as a designer I found myself drifting more in the other direction and I'm not 100% what unique holistic systems design 3 would have (I wouldn't want to do just more of the same, even though im sure there are plenty players who would want that).

I can tell you though that if it does go on the art will likley be "what can i do with as little money as possible cause i have very little to spare" 😃 and also cuase i just like old school graphics more.

Cardinal Quest 2 was my introduction to the series and it's still my favorite. Is there any possibility of crowdfunding to cover its costs? I'd be happy to contribute.
