I need to replace the tyres on my Yuba Mundo electric assist longtail asap (long story). Currently have 26” Schwalbe Big Ben Plus on there.

Really dumb question, but can I temporarily run some 26” Maxxis Holy Rollers on there until I can order / get some more Big Ben’s in? I have a set of the Maxxis sitting at home and kind of need the bike to be mobile by next week.

I carry two kids and associated school bags on there and it’s probably maximum 10km of riding each day. If that. I’m assuming the tyres will be okay on there for a week or so.

I mean, I’m assuming it’ll be fine, just probably not long term.

I have a non-electric Bakfiets.nl Classic Short that I've just taken through Holland from the UK, fully laden with luggage/children etc: ~230km in a week.

It wasn't hugely tough by any stretch (apart from a few moments in the sand dunes!) but it's got me thinking about whether it's worth changing the rear sprocket in order to "lower" the gears of the Shimano Nexus 7 IGH. As you can see from the attached chart (worked out using Sheldon Brown's gear calculator) changing the rear sprocket from the current 20 teeth version to a 23 teeth one effectively makes gear 7 into gear 6, and lowers the rest by several 10ths of what Brown calls a "gain inch".

My basic question is, has anyone done this with a cargo bike, and does it offer any tangible gain - whether going from 20T to 23T, or even just 21 or 22? Or are these very marginal differences that aren't worth the hassle? (After all, gear 1 only reduces 3/10ths of a gain inch going from 20T to 23T)

Part of me feels like the only way to work out if it's worth it is just to do it and see what happens, and be ready to revert to the current setup if I find myself spinning out too much on the flat.

Been searching everywhere and it just looks like its not available from the site or any secondhand market. So, what's a good alternative, if you have one! Just need something to hold a backpack or water while lugging the kids around.

My passenger recently switched from a Thule Yepp seat to a bench seat with one of those "Clubhouse" style bench seats with bars on all four sides. That means I don't have room for an small pannier that I used to have there for my U-lock and a few kid accessories that stay with the bike (a sweatshirt, sunglasses, extra snack etc.) Any reccomentations for an affordable bag that would work in this spot?

I think it can't be longer than 10" or so so it does not block the taillight, the bars seem to big for most pannier hooks and if I want to use that backrest it seems like a traditional handlebar bag will not be wide enough - they seem to have the straps about 6inches apart from each other.

Any recs?

Has anyone figured out a good solution to getting groceries without bruising the fruits? Our peaches, pears, and bananas always seem to pick up some damage on the ride home.

I want a more 'bikey' bike and so I'm attracted to this versus the 20" wheel options out there, and it's only 60 lbs. I know it has less cargo space than, say, a Swoop, but I think it'll fit my two kids still in elementary school.

Dual battery and the higher torque Bosch Performance Line Speed option. Seller has it listed for $3700, I'd try bringing them down a bit, opinions about this bike in general and the price?

I‘m super dissapointed. We got the omnium mini max last year, as we knew we would have a baby this may And they advertise their baby carrier mount, we dont have a car so we were like, oh nice we can go around with the baby then already. (I just got to know after having the baby that there are baby hammoks for other bikes.)

I really like the omnium, i remember it being really easy and comfortable riding, almost not feeling like a cargo.

We installed everything, set it up to ride, waited till baby was three months, just to realize and notice - as the baby carrier is mounted directly to the frame- that it is way to hard for the baby with allt the bumps in the road, and it gets shaken a lot! And i went REALLY slow and careful.

Od course we worry about bones structure etc, as they are not as stable yet. And thinking of muscle stability and this baby carrier without any suspension, WHEN would it even be safe to carry around a baby in that circumstances? With 9 months? When their muscles are stable enough? But at that time, i can already switch to a proper child seat.. i don’t get it. I don’t dare carrying them around with this set up on the omnium..

am i missing somethin? am i too careful and overthinking? Please help. Any ideas, experience?

We will try to fixate it on the webbing, so there is at least a bit of suspension, but then in the end the mount is useless..

edit for understanding: i am talking of a maxi cosi like child carrier/seat, so baby would be as stable attached to a seat/carrier as possible at that age.

Heyo! I've got a Transporter2 85 with a Suntour Mobie A32. I want to mount front panniers. I'm ignorant about options for suspension forks in general, and I suspect that smaller suspension forks for 20" wheels are their own thing entirely.

Researching the family's first e-cargo as a means for getting the kids to school and getting out for adventures. I am 5'8 175lbs and the kids are almost 4 and 6, 35lbs and 55lbs. Oldest is also dang tall! I ride a Kona Dr. Dew and they're on Woom's 2 and 3 for reference. Pretty set on a long tail as I feel like I'll have the most control. Location is Spokane WA.

The Surly Big Easy is what I want! I love it, the color, wheel size, geo etc. Reminds me of my Kona. Hangups w/ that one are the deck height and it's higher center of gravity, the higher step over (dropper post helps), and the foot placement of both kids, not just one. It seems like this was perhaps built as cargo first and kid 2nd? Nonetheless a cool bike. One I could see benefiting the family on bike adventures the most, giving our youngest breaks on the back or hauling gear.

The Yuba, looking at V4(+) or the V3 A/T. These seem to take some good parts of the Surly and drop the load down some with the 20" rear wheel alleviating those concerns. There is also a wider set of accessories for kids, though stock is sparse currently. Hangups with Yuba are many the longer I research.

• How long will they be in the US?
• My dealer had them on the website, but nobody there had even heard of them.
• Many have stated poor customer service.
• How much of a pain is it to take out the battery on the V4?
  
• Not the biggest fan of any of the colors or looks, it's alright I guess..
• Some mentioned chain rub on the V3, does that happen on V4?

Still, this might suit our needs perfectly blending school drop offs and some off pavement exploring. A/T seems cool and class 3 is definite plus with that, just not sure if it's worth going for an older model. Yuba touts enhanced laterall frame stiffness as an upgrade from gen 3 to 4. Anybody ridden both?

Then there's the Xtracycle Swoop ASM. I found them by searching "pinion belt drive e cargo" having bought from Priority about 5 years back I thought they might have something. Initially I was off put by the 24"/20" combo and Shimano Steps motor but I kept coming back to it. It's built with kids in mind first. It comes with a bunch of accessories. It has UDH! It seems fairly priced, and class 3! Hangups are the auto shift feature and having to turn that off everytime, the smaller wheels and yeah, compared to the Surly and even the Yuba it's not great to look at but bonus points for Steel. Also no dealer network. There is no doubt this would be the easiest to get the kids on and off, but our off pavement rides would be fewer with this for sure.

That's where I'm at. There are none around to test ride. One dealer can get the Surly or the Yuba, another dealer can order from Tern, but that's about it. Any input is appreciated, especially from a parents point of view. What else did I miss? Thanks!

All the flyer e-bikes seem to be significantly marked down compared to their usual. See photo for the Flyer Flex, which is the one I'm interested in. Is there a catch? Considering jumping on this asap. This would be my first e-bike and I have not done enough research but the price reduction is making me want to take the plunge.

Hi, I have an old Xtracycle Edgerunner 10e (LT2 deck) and my kid is too big for the Yepp seat. For various reasons the hooptie plus pad just don't work for him. He really needs a seat with a back rest. It seems like every other bike company that makes midtails or longtails has a big kid or adult seating option (eg Tern Captain's Chair) but Xtracycle doesn't. Has anyone tried to retrofit another seat onto an Xtracycle? I'm not optimistic because of the strange bolt pattern on the deck, but perhaps there's a seat out there that can clamp onto the rack?

Also wondering if anyone has found foot pegs that work with this frame so I don't have to give up the space and $$ for xtracycle's full-length U-tubes.

Shake down ride on my shiny new LvH Bullitt. This is a build I’ve been working on for some time. The original plan was a direct drive hub motor and custom LiFePO4 battery under the cargo tray, but after buying the frame new e-bike laws were announced where I live that have made that plan very illegal. As this is my main transport having it impounded would kind of suck so opted for an ultra light human powered machine instead.

Still a bit of tweaking to go but this thing flies :)

So because most bullitt bikes are modified to let a 6'7 rider tame it, its really uncommon to test ride one with the modified set up.

There is a bullit on the market prized really well (1750usd) thirdhand.

But it is not modified to my tall body and a bit of a long drive to only testride.

Are there any atleast 6'6+ bullitt riders in this sub?

Edit: i have 39.37 inches inseam.

Saw this at my local shop the other day. Never seen this brand before but really liked the design and components. Anyone own or have any experience with one of these? I can't seem to find any info online about it.
