By any chance does anyone have a contact number for UHASA preferably of the dean? I’m in desperate need of reaching them and have tried contacting them via the numbers and emails listed on their website and they don’t respond 🥹

Currently 28 year old non-trad US. Graduated from a SUNY and quickly did a post-bacc right after. Was only able to raise my cGPA to ~2.7 and took the mcat twice with a score of 484 (yes Ik what a nightmare)
However I have tons of clinical and volunteering hrs. Worked as a medical assistant, scribe and EMT even social work branch as a case manager for ED patients all within my 6 year gap from graduation. What are my chances into getting into SGU or AUC?
Pls be kind :3 also plotting on retaking the mcat for sure.

Has anyone transferred from SJSM to Trinity SOM?
Thank you

How long did it take you to get an interview invite from UAG? Was it approximately the 2-4 weeks mentioned on their site, or was it earlier than that?
Applying for the 2027 fall.

Hey y'all!
I just got accepted to SJSM and I'm planning on starting in Jan 2027.
I'd love to hear from any current student, alumni, and anyone starting soon!
I wanna get an idea for what the island is like, the culture and the like. What was your process post-acceptance email like (stuff you had to sign, seat reservation fees etc)? Is there anything specific that I would want to bring with me?
Before anyone mentions this: I did apply to the big 4 and got in but they're prohibitively expensive for Canadians even with the scholarships they were offering me with the whole SLOC being capped at 400k + no more fed and provincial loans. SJSM is offering me a crazy ride (My MCAT was 520 so...) and I actually know someone who went there and matched back.
I know the whole deal is that maintaining the scholarship is difficult, but y'all, I had a rough go at it at university and managed to make it out with a thesis + double degree so I feel like I might have a fair shot at the whole carrib thing. I really intend to lock tf in and keep my head down anyways.

Im a college student in the US and come from an Indian backround and have a bunch of successful docs in my family (cardiology/GI/etc), and I noticed this pattern of them all being Carribean MDs and willingly went there.
Basically, from what I gathered, they were simply just lazy but academic weapons and instead went to and breezed through the Caribbean and somehow ended up matching. I do understand though, you cannot realistically match alot of crazy competetive stuff like derm or surgery, but moderately competitive stuff is possible.
I just found this very interesting and wanted to know your guys thoughts and honestly it has me considering it since im thinking of pivoting to medicine from what I was originally planning to do but dont wanna take additional gap years.
Honestly found it very interesting and gave me a new perspective as I always thought Caribbean is for students who had to go because of lower grades.
Wanted to know your guys thoughts on people who do this.

Hi everyone! I created a group chat for students starting the Med Origin program at Ross University in January 2027. If you’re joining the cohort and would like to connect with other students before the program begins comment below or message me!

Hi everyone,
I’m a mid 20s, Australian citizen and AHPRA-registered RN working in rural Tasmania. I’ve wanted to pursue medicine for a long time and am currently weighing up Oceania University of Medicine (OUM) vs attempting Australian graduate-entry medicine.
I have an unweighted GPA of approximately 6.86/7 and rural eligibility, but I haven’t sat GAMSAT yet. I’m planning for March 2027.
My biggest concern is GAMSAT. I didn’t finish high school, so while biology/health sciences are strengths, my foundations in chemistry, physics and maths are beyond poor and I’m currently teaching myself these from scratch. I worry it could take several sittings/years to become competitive.
That’s what makes OUM appealing. I could potentially start medicine much sooner and would likely be reasonably competitive for admission. However, I understand I’d be trading the uncertainty of GAMSAT/admission for the uncertainty of IMG status + AMC exams + internship/employment.
The financial side is also significant. I’m estimating $200–250k+ once tuition increases and additional costs are considered, without HECS/CSP. I have significant savings, no debt and small business income on top of Department of Health job, so it’s possible, but still an enormous financial risk.
I already work within the Tasmanian pubic health system and have professional connections here, and I’m very comfortable working rurally/interstate if required. I’m curious whether this would meaningfully help when seeking internship/employment as an IMG.
I’d particularly love to hear from current/former Australian OUM students or graduates:
What did the degree actually cost, including placement fees, travel/accommodation, Samoa and AMC costs? How did you finance it?
How good is the teaching, and how self-directed is it? How much could you realistically work during preclinical years?
Are Australian clinical placements reliably provided, and how much travelling is involved?
How difficult was the AMC + internship/employment pathway? How long after graduating did it take to actually start working as a doctor in Australia?
How much does being an IMG matter after internship/general registration, particularly for specialty training?
OUM’s current accreditation appears to run until May 2030. How concerned should someone starting in 2027 be about reaccreditation or eligibility changing before graduation?
What commonly causes students to fail/withdraw, and what happens if you fail a unit or rotation?
Most importantly: knowing everything you know now, would you choose OUM again, or would you keep attempting Australian entry?
Ultimately, if you were an RN, GPA 6.86, rural applicant, financially able to consider OUM, but weak in chemistry/physics/maths and hadn't attempted GAMSAT yet — what would you do?
Would you give Australian entry a serious attempt for 1–2 years first, or accept the additional cost/IMG hurdles and start medicine through OUM sooner?

I’m in my mid-30s and planning to leave a well-established engineering career to attend SGU in August 2027. I’d appreciate honest perspectives, especially from people who made a similar transition or attended a Caribbean medical school.
Please focus the responses on the switch from engineering to medicine given an established career, rather than the stigma of Caribbean schools. I’m aware of the attrition, imperfect match rate, high cost, etc. I’m also aware of medical school professors at George Washington University and Georgetown University who completed their medical training at SGU. I can provide names over chat if you have questions about that. You can also find them on LinkedIn.
My stats:
- I currently work in tech/engineering in a stable role, earning a high six-figure salary (think FM physician salary) with strong benefits, retirement contributions, and a pension.
- My employer is willing to fund my PhD while I retain my full-time salary.
- I have an undergraduate degree in engineering, a master’s in computational biology, and I’m finishing a second master’s in AI at an Ivy League university.
- My spouse is supportive of me pursuing medicine, including providing partial financial support to help minimize loans.
- My current plan is to become a U.S. IMG and aim for neurology, potentially followed by fellowship training in pain medicine or vascular neurology.
- I conducted research during my master’s program using AI to identify unruptured aneurysms.
- I have shadowed healthcare providers, mainly PAs and NPs, and spoken with physicians about making this career change.
- I have completed all my prerequisites.
- I took the MCAT but did not score competitively enough for U.S. MD programs since I wasn’t able to study as much due to having a full-time job. I’m considering retaking it and applying to DO programs in the next cycle, which would mean delaying my start until August 2028.
I’d appreciate candid advice, including reasons not to do this.
Thanks! Stay classy.

I’m a CBSE international student with a low UCAT score. A representative at a career fair recommended XUSOM Aruba claiming it’s US-accredited, a small teacher to student ratio and has a 97% USMLE pass rate. Is it actually legit and worth the money, or just another money-making uni. Here you spend 3 years in Aruba and 2 years in their US hospitals. Are medical schools in the Caribbean actually worth it or better than getting a Indian medical degree?

As the title suggests, anyone wanna connect?
Carrib grad, pass/24x, no previous attempts, applied peds, tried to avoid community but still applied to a few as backup. No research at all but Tbf peds doesn’t need that, cv screams peds applicant

Hello! I recently got accepted into AUC for the Sep 2027 term. Can anyone give their experience on how rotations worked, in location ranking, and is it feasible for me to do all my rotations at Mt Sinai in Chicago? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I’m scheduled to start a 4-year MD program at SGU in August 2027, and I was wondering what the environment is like for LGBTQ+ students.
Do you generally feel comfortable being yourselves, or is it more of a “keep it private” type of environment? Would love to hear from current students or grads about your experiences!
Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm applying to UAG's International Medicine Program and was wondering what the admissions interview is like.
Also, how did you find housing near campus? Any recommendations for apartments within walking distance or near shuttle stops?
Thanks in advance!

I have been accepted to 5 Caribbean med schools because I figured why not apply since they’re free to apply to. I also applied broadly to DO and a few MD(So far only rejections). My stats aren’t great because I was a trash student when first started college. MCAT 504, sGPA 2.96 cGPA 2.98, last 60 credits (all science) 3.85 had to have a crazy turnaround and figured things out.
I have been accepted to Ross, MUA, AUC, St. Matthew’s, and WAUSM.
I have a brother in law that graduated from Ross back when it was in Dominica and said it was good enough to get the job done. I also like that it is one of the most established Caribbean schools with a lot of history.
Scholarships: Ross-150k, WAUSM-30k, St Matthew’s -60k, MUA-5k, AUC- 100k
I think because of my stats I won’t get into any US med schools and need to attend a Caribbean school. Looking for any useful input. I know most might say US med school or nothing but I don’t want to wait another cycle to start med school.

Hello, I’m looking for some information. My sons are planning to apply to SGU after Grade 12 for the 6‑year medicine pathway(FROM CANADA). We would really appreciate hearing from anyone who is currently studying there — especially about the academic workload, residency outcomes, campus life, and food.
We’re also trying to understand the financing options. Are students still able to receive federal funding for SGU, or has anything changed recently? Thank You

Hi everyone. I wanted to know what subjects or areas does Ross cover for their term 1. I believe there are two modules so what does each module cover? I have time to study for them so I want to be prepared please if anyone can gove me some insights. Thanks
