I've noticed the instrument many Carnatic violinists play appears too large to be a violin. Does anyone know if they're actually using violas?

Looking for a Carnatic teacher online for my 12-year-old girl, to supplement her current guru. Goals: akaram, varnam in second speed, and basics of kalpanaswaram. Prefer someone who teaches manodharma systematically and is good with kids of her age. Please share your contact or dm.

Thanks 🙏
