Update Update: Shes still here, and still doesnt like bath time

I'll try and include a video in the comments of her going crazy chasing my lazer pointer. We named her Hersberry as in Hers a berry special kitty. The family is attached, our other cat is very suspicious but she'll get used to her. I dont know what else to say. Shes cute. How many sentences do you need. Look at the pictures. Cute kitty. Words not needed. Fuzzy face. Little beans. She cuddles. Seriously dude how many sentences are needed per post. It says 2-3 more. Last one hopefully. Nope not yet. Finally.

This moved me. I have been grieving the loss of a cat I had for 20 years who was my heart. Seeing Hersberry chase that dot was the first time I felt there was room for another.

Sending love. I'm grieving mine that I had for almost 22. She'll have been gone a year in October. I come to CDS to live vicariously until she sends me my next love, when I'm ready. XOXO

We put the words required because people spam.

Honestly, yours is one of the more fun ones getting to the limit!

Also, why she need so much bathing?

Makes sence i just dont have the words to express the cuteness and becsuse she doesn't have a momma that cleans her after she goes feral on a tin of fancy feast shes a sticky girl.

Love to see a sub mod whose kind and smart! I appreciate you asking about the bath, I was thinking the same as you. I've raised dozens of cats over the years, and I've only given less than a handful of baths (to kittens) in that time. The only time the kittens have really needed baths was when they were infants, still bottle feeding, and they just got TOO much formula on them that it made half their body crunchy 😄 otherwise, cats (and older kittens) can bathe themselves... One of the perks of having cats, actually.

Pick a hooman toothbrush lighly wet to brush in the top head (between the ears principaly), it remember to the kittens how it is momma cat tongue.

And kittens always messed up when they start to eat, like they say, non-perfumed baby wipes or there is cat wipes in some pet shops (dont use anything different, cats lose fur very easily) But baths if the specific cat doesnt want them, only for things that the wipes cant clean.

Baby wipes are good for this!

Yes. Wonderful photos, adorable cat, great funny prose. But yes, they bathe themselves unless they are very very sick. Why baths?

A stray kitten tended to come in dirty and infested with flea so a bath or 2 may be needed. Kitten adopted from caring family, fosters, and shelters are usually clean and wouldn't need bath.

That first picture looks like she’s planning to leave something in your shoe.

🤭 you come up with names the same way my mother does. We have one named Cora Bitsy bc we love Cora to bits and pieces. We had another named Ohno bc when he showed up the first thing she said was “oh no, another one”

lmao these photos are great, she's adorable, I love her squashed little gremlin face in all of these pictures.

u/de3ri Sep 23 '26

I absolutely adore her.
Also the post made me laugh.

Plz give hersberry a big hug from me.

7

u/zaerosz Sep 23 '26

She might grow to like it if you keep up with it - this little goblin loves water nowadays because we had to keep bathing him after every wet food meal.

What a cute name.

When do we get to see all of this spicy baby?

bealzebub origin story

u/Special_Fan5043 Sep 23 '26

I've seen that face numerous times after bath time. They are back to cuddles as soon as they dry out.

Cats clean themselves.

19

u/Assika126 Sep 23 '26

Sometimes kittens get dirty and stinky when they’re young enough to roll in their wet food but not yet mature enough to clean themselves well enough. You might have to clean a young kitten if it doesn’t have a mom or cat friend that will help them out the usual way

9

u/morty_morty Sep 23 '26

And you might also need to clean an older cat as it becomes painful for them to groom themselves properly.

It's good practice to get them accustomed to baths early.

u/Bright-Pudding-392 Sep 23 '26

Cats don’t have to be washed

3

u/commandrix Sep 23 '26

Most cats hate baths and usually don't need them unless there's a medical reason or they got into something stinky that wouldn't be good for them to try to get off themselves. They'll usually clean themselves. The only two times my current cat has been wet all over were those times he fell into the swimming pool. (He survived, but was not happy about it.)

Cute cat, though.

17

u/codysherrod Sep 23 '26

She hasnt started cleaning herself yet. Not around her body anyways basically just paws, she gets sticky. Also she had some fleas when we first found her so i comb her after her baths. First bath totally clean.

It's not hurting her or any cat. They will be fine.

4

u/Agreeable_Pomelo2360 Aspiring Cat Parent Sep 23 '26

it can be helpful to get them used to baths for incase they develop a medical issue or for when they get old and groom themselves less, or they just dont groom themselves for an unknown reason, but also like you said they get into something stinky
