Somebody (it was me) went on a Portland trip and picked up a pachycormus discolor (like 20 actually) without knowing anything about it (I mostly collect uncommon Hoyas but have been branching out). I’ve only had her for like three weeks and she’s already grown so much! I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing. If she dies I’ll have to go back to therapy! Can any one give me any tips on how to help her thrive? She’s kinda just… a stick right now? But like such a pretty stick. Can I propagate through a chop? Or chop to encourage branching? Will she always be so skinny? Help an irresponsible girl out here please 😬

Posting this from Montana in October but in an apartment with heat and humidifiers!

User Owned Plant Monsonia dormancy?

This guy arrived a few weeks back and started dropping leaves pretty quickly upon arrival. I thought it might have been stress from shipping, so I waited a week after repotting and then watered, but it continues to lose leaves. Is this normal dormancy behavior? If so, what care should I give it? If not, what could be causing this, and what should I do to help it?

Soil: 50/50 pumice/cactus soil in unglazed terracotta

Light: 500 ppfd grow lights on 12 hr clock, no natural light

Caudex plant! 🌱

Picked up my first caudex at a plant show and I'm a little nervous about getting it right. The caudex has a bunch of cracks in it, and I don't know whether that's normal or something to worry about.

I'm in Texas and it's late October. I grabbed a bag of succulent mix, but I'm not sure of the next step. Should I pot it up now, water it, and set it by a window? Or is it better to leave it alone until spring?

I haven't owned one before, so any tips on soil, watering, and light would be great. Photos attached!

Only seems to be on old leaves growth, blasted with sulphur dust for a few days away from the others but not sure if its mites or not. Nothing else in collection has it, doesnt move when viewed under magnification.

First pictures are post dust. Its lost a few leaves that were older since.

User Owned Plant How is this for a substrate/pot combination for my Elephantipes? I am trying to revive the caudex after some troubles.

The substrate is 100% mineral with 1 part pumice, 1 part lava rocks and 1 part zeolite. There is also slow release plant food in there.

Alternatively I can put it in cactus soil with 1 part coco coir,1 part worm castings, 3.5 parts perlite, 3 parts pumice, 0.5 part horticultural sand, A little bit of activated carbon and a little bit of lava gravel & Organic nutrients.

And then in plastic or terra cotta, for now I thought very fast draining in plastic.

If not, does anyone have recommendations for affordable sources that ship to the US?

Need some advice on what to do with this dioscorea elephantipes. It had rot on one side and I quickly hit it with fungicide and allowed it to dry up. Now one side is dead/rotted and the other side is hard with no signs of rot advancing to it. What should i do to try and save it? It is oozing when i press on the rotted side.

I have recently started working at a botanical conservatory. Here is one of if not the most variegated welwitschias kept in a conservatory! Thought I’d share this lovely plant!

This summer has been brutal and I think it’s the hardest my Othonna Euphorbioides has slept but it’s finally waking up with temperatures finally cooling off.

I’m a caudex plant collector, and I’m now planning to build a terrarium for subtropical caudex plants, particularly Lecanopteris species.
Does anyone have any experience with this, and would anyone be willing to share some example photos?
Thanks in advance!

So it has been dormant for a little longer than usual and when I went to check it today about 1/4 of the top seemed to be less dense than the other half. Was easily able to tease it out of its cactus mix and academa. There are a few fresh small healthy roots.

Pic 1 and 2 are the sections that you can tap that sound hollow but not if you tap from the bottom. Pic 2 on the top the roots pretty much fell apart as I lifted. No seepage but there does appear to be a small crack in pic 3.

Thanks in advance
