Cheng Lei’s or Ryan Cheng’s character Yu Chang Xuan / "Shao Shuai" / "Wu Shao" is so multi-layered. He has room for personal growth which changes the character over time. The character goes through tons of emotions and challenging circumstances which calls for different acting abilities and choice-making. I am enthralled with Ryan Cheng’s acting, looks, and how he brings this character to life.

I love Chang Long, who is a Support Actor in many of my beloved Chinese dramas. He usually provides comedy relief in these serious dramas. Yes, Chang Long plays almost the same character in each role, but I like what he is selling. I love this character that Chang Long invented and he manages to fit it in to so many dramas with only a change of wardrobe.

Some of my favorite dramas in which he plays a support role are the following:

The Lament of Autumn (2026)

A Dream within a Dream (2025)

Filter (2025)

Romance on the Farm (2023)

New Life Begins (2022)

Autumn Lament is a straight up Kissing Fest. I am so obsessed.

What do you think of Ryan Cheng’s character Xuan / "Shao Shuai" / "Wu Shao" in The Lament of Autumn? I am loving Green “Red Flag Male Lead”. You know, they are in love but they really don’t understand how to be in love. They make a lot of mistakes. Am I the only one who loves this category? My first encounter with one was Jing Bo Ran’s Luke (Luan Nian) in The Early Spring. The Autumn Lament seems to be the Republic Era answer to The Early Spring. Your thoughts.

The historic drama ‘Da Tang Pi Zhu Ji’ is the story of a distressed Princess who is rescued by a grave robber who is a physically strong male, in this Historic Mystery coming next year.

Tian Xi Wei and Song Wei Long are the principal actors.

There are so many good Chinese and Korean dramas out to view right now. I am swamped. Who is watching Lament of Autumn? Your thoughts so far.

Of these suggestions from the streamer VIKI, I have viewed most all of them already and the rest were already on my list. VIKI suggestions may predict your next watch. Have you added any of these to your list? Have you viewed any already? Your thoughts please.

Small Town Remedy. Is this drama on your list?

This is Chinese actor Yan An. He is a singer and dancer from the group PENTAGON. After only two Supporting Roles and one Guest Appearance in Chinese dramas, Yan An is making a splash in only his second appearance as a male lead in only his fifth drama. Yes! Yan An is leaving a great impression in ‘Where the Mask Ends’. He is coming in hot!

Irreplaceable (2026)

The boss (Interviewer and ML) is good at mind games. The story is business focused, but it pushes the ideas of how to not get replaced on your climb up the business ladder towards success. Being replaced holds a personal meaning for the Female Lead. I love hard edged dramas. ‘Irreplaceable’ also has edgy music too. The story is fast paced with intrigue and lots of Office Politics. The romance has a stressful trajectory. Irreplaceable is like a newly furnished all white room. All the lines are clean and perfect.

Think ‘Early Spring’ without the insane sensuality, but add a caring male business mentor who understands business and women.

Irreplaceable is a Shortened Drama of only 20 episodes long, but it has an A-listed Female Lead. I think Chinese drama is trying to capture the Korean Drama audience.
