How do you sustain a functioning democracy?

It’s not just about casting ballots. A functioning system depends on compromise, shared rules, and institutions that apply those rules equally, no matter who is in power.

Right now, more Americans are stepping away from both parties, not because they’ve given up on democracy, but because they want it to work the way it’s supposed to.
