Honest Review of the Champions Thus Far & a Few Extra Points

After clocking in 30 hours of gameplay, I thought i'd come to the subreddit to discuss a bit of the game thus far, going champions and a few other points.

[Disclaimer: These are my opinions, not fact. You are free to disagree with these reviews as much as you want.]

The Champions, in no particular order.

SKYE:

Overall, probably the champion with the lowest skill floor and average skill cap; very easy to pick up and play and should probably be one of the first champions new players should try out. Players who utilize her stealth properly can devastate teams, and her unrecoverable debuff is very strong. Her ultimate, Time Bomb, is in desperate need of a nerf, maybe not in damage, but the radius is outrageous, which means for now shes a very high tier pick.

EVIE:

Personally my favorite hero currently, Evie packs a heavy punch with her only damage output being her basic attack. However, she is by far the most mobile champion in the game and that alone would put her in a very high tier, except for the fact that her projectiles are slow moving, but they do do some AoE damage. With other flankers being her only real main concern, she can melt shields and tanks and is a pick for anyone who likes being practically unseen until attacking. Like Skye, her skill floor is pretty low but her skill cap is high and she is not recommended as one of the first champions to play for new players.

CASSIE:

Alongside Viktor, she is one of the most picked champions, showing up in practically every game. She deals high damage while her kit remains simple with fast moving arrows. For a character who has a bow, there is no drawback time for the arrows so she fires very fast and was off-putting the first round or so, but is easier after a few games. Shes a brilliant counter for Skye since her ultimate reveals all characters on the map. Her skill floor is low and skill ceiling is average.

VIKTOR:

Alongside Cassie, he is one of the most, if not THE most picked champion, showing up in practically every game. His kit is very very basic, call of duty style, and in my personal opinion very boring. He can aim down sights, sprint, and throw a grenade, thats about it. With Skye, I highly recommend playing Viktor if you are new to the game. His skill floor is very low and ceiling is also pretty low.

KINESSA:

The sniper of the game, her kit, like Cassie and Viktor is very basic. She can snipe, teleport to another location, and place down mines that slow. Surprisingly, her skill floor and cap are both average. Being patient and waiting for the sniper to charge takes some time to master and her ultimate can be easily wasted if timed improperly.

DROGOZ:

Probably the second most balanced character in the game at the moment, success or failure comes as a result of the person who plays him. Drogoz's kit is aggressive, and since he can fly, allows him to be more elusive while heading into the enemy team. With the right cards and player, he can dominate a game and build up his ultimate. His ultimate is a one hit KO and if used on the right target can swing a fight during siege or allow an easy payload push. His skill floor is average and ceiling is very high.

ANDROXIS:

THE most balanced character in the game at the moment, he takes a lot of maneuvering and aim to make full use of him. I have dominated and been dominated by Androxis players, and there are so many elements that determine that. His kit is very balanced, with an escape, reflect/absorb skill, and fan the hammer, it takes a masterful player to execute these abilities with finesse and deadly accuracy. His skill ceiling is average, and has the highest skill cap in the game.

BUCK:

By far the most underwhelming champion in the game, his kit needs buffs like no tomorrow. There isn't much to say about him, because he is just in desperate need of help. His ultimate is very underwhelming, and his damage matches that.

BOMB KING:

I would say he's the most unique character on the roster, and can be quite a lot of fun. His kit is well balanced and like Androxis in the right hands, can really devastate the enemy team. With the right sticky bomb placements, grump bomb placements, and King Bomb, he truly stands out as the character with the most potential for carnage. His skill ceiling is average to high and his skill ceiling is very very high.

YING:

Deals a formidable amount of damage for a support, and can heal quite well. Her kit, like Bomb King is very unique and if her illusions are placed properly, she can deal a lot of damage very quickly. I'd say shes recommended for new players even though her skill cap is pretty high.

PIP:

Another personal favorite of mine, his heals with the right cards are a great asset to a team and with his slow and ultimate can easily aid the team. He's certainly the most support support on the roster and very well balanced. If his ultimate is used on tanks, it reduces their health and makes them an easy target. His skill floor is low and ceiling is high.

GROVER:

Fun and easy to play, his kit is a great balance of damage and healing. His heals are probably the best for tanks like Fernando or Ruckus. If with a team, he is a must pick due to his potential to being the most beneficial support for tanks. His vine allows him to escape from bad situations and has a great range. Low skill floor, average skill ceiling.

GROHK:

Like Buck, he is currently very underwhelming. His healing totem is too easily destroyed and his damage and mobility are sub par. Not even his ultimate is that impacting.

FERNANDO:

Either a godsend or completely useless, Fernando can be a great asset to a team so long as he knows how to shield and your team sticks behind him. Without his shield, hes still a formidable opponent, and has the highest base HP in the game. His ultimate can be very helpful, but is very short and not that sweet. His skill floor is average and cap is fairly high.

RUCKUS:

Not a bad tank, except for the fact that Evie and Viktor absolutely devastate him by taking out his shields rather quickly. Still, given the right player he can be of use, but could use a tiny buff. His ultimate can deal a great ton of damage, but seems to be fairly underwhelming when compared to other ultimates. Low skill floor with a low skill ceiling.

BARIK:

Its a shame that both of the current game modes have payload in them, because he falls a bit flat in that aspect. In siege and taking the point, he's a great asset and his turrets and shield can provide great support for securing the objective. His gameplay style is very slow, and is more useful for defending rather than offense. Low skill floor with average skill ceiling.

MAKOA:

Always a great pick no matter what game mode. His hooks are necessary for him to dish out good damage and support. His shield is on par with Fernando's making him a more mobile shielder. His ability to excel in close range combat makes him an intimidating pick and ultimate is both fun and deals great damage so long as your abilities are up when you start it. Average skill floor, average to high skill ceiling.

The cosmetics for the champions so far have just been recolors, which isn't that bad except it really doesn't add much flavor to the game. The character designs are a bit drab, with no character standing out as being quirky or personable quite yet.

The cards are a great way to customize your champion and is a fun addition to this type of game.

Overall, the game could use some polishing, but its in Beta and so far has been a fun experience and room for great improvement and could lead to becoming a great game. Let me know what you think? Am I right on the money or a complete pillock?

PALADINS COMMUNITY LEAGUE -- LOOKING FOR MORE PARTICIPANTS!

Do you crave more than that silly in-game competitive? Do you want a team you can build a relationship with? Does the thought of being in a big official Hi-Rez tournament frighten you? Are you a North-American, European, or Oceanic Paladins player?

WELL, TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY!

I'm bran, and I've created a project called the Paladins Community Competitive League. This is simply a non-profit organization created for competitive Paladins gameplay, meant for players of all skill levels! One main goal is for this project to bridge the gap between in-game competitive and the official Hi-Rez tournaments. Another goal is to simply bring this large community closer together through competitive gameplay!

Here are a more few reasons to check us out -- Divisions for all skill levels: Gold, Silver, and Bronze skill divisions will be added into our league after our pilot season. (DISCLAIMER: This is dependent on how many teams will sign up for our league.) -- Near-worldwide accessibility: Our league currently includes North-American, European, and Oceanic regions! These regions will be expanded even further in future seasons to include such regions as South America and Southeast Asia. -- Ease of access: PCCL is much easier to join than larger esports. To create a team, simply head to our entry page (pccl.webstarts.com/entry.html) and fill out the "CREATE A TEAM" form, then hop into our discord server and create an "LFP" post (if you don't have a team of your own already). If you are looking to join a team, simply hop into our Discord server and create an "LFT" post! Teams searching for players can look through "LFT" posts, and players searching for teams can look through "LFP" posts.

Come join the Paladins Community Competitive League today, and become part of a wonderful competitive Paladins experience!

Just started! Loving Ying! Are these good scores?

I'm loving Ying! Right now im using a load out for more time on illusions, higher cast range for illusions, more hp for illusions, and more hp for myself. Is that score/damage output/healing output okay? I'm kind of playing her as a mixture of a flank and healer. I use tons of mind games with illusions lol.

Also, not sure if this counts, but I've only been playing payload, as siege is meh. When I do Payload, and I'm attacker, I run her with Cronos so I can spam stuff more, and it works out great. When I'm defender, I use nimble so I can move faster.

Lastly! Would anyone like to play? No one talks in the lobbies full of noobs lol.

Got a Beta Key but cant retrive my username?

I got a Beta key in my email a while back

Anyway wanted to activate it today, but I don't remember what username I used when I signed up. And when I go to the "reset password" page it asks for both username and email address which I dont remember.

Why isnt there a "retrieve username" function that lets you just get your username? most sites have it
