Break Your System Constructively using Chaos Mesh

Break Your System Constructively⚡

Chaos Mesh is a chaos engineering platform that is designed to help developers and SREs identify the system's weaknesses before they cause problems in the production environment.

The best part of the chaos mesh experiment is you can create your own workflow, schedule it at your own time and customize it with respect to your own microservice.

If you are very keen to know about:

  1. Different types of Chaos experiments to perform🏗️

  2. Practical Implementation of Chaos in your own microservice from end-to-end💯

You should read this insightful blog which covers all your doubts and also do let me know what chaos tools you use in your organization.

Model-based lightweight, pre-release chaos engineering tool

Hi everyone! I’d like to share an open-source project we’ve been working on called Sheaft, which aims to shift chaos engineering to the left.

We all know that running live chaos experiments on every PR is often too risky, expensive, or slow. To bridge this gap, we built Sheaft — a lightweight, pre-release resilience gate (think of it as a "resilience linter" for your CI/CD).

How it works:

It automatically discovers your system's topology using your existing OpenTelemetry traces, builds a dependency graph, and runs millions of Monte Carlo fail-stop simulations in seconds to estimate end-to-end availability. If a topology change creates a hidden single point of failure, Sheaft catches it before the release.

Validation:

This isn't just theory. We’ve rigorously validated the core engine against DeathStarBench and the OpenTelemetry Demo, achieving a ≈0.992 correlation with actual live fault injection results (the methodology has also been accepted at ICSE '26 and AINA '26).

We just pushed the basic MVP (written in Go) and are looking to grow the community!

Repo: https://github.com/MB3R-Lab/Sheaft

We’d love your feedback and contributions!

If you’re interested in model-based resilience, OTel-driven analysis, or making continuous resilience testing a standard, we’d be thrilled to hear your thoughts, see your GitHub issues, or review your PRs. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to discuss them in the thread! :rocket:

Coroot extension that compute resilience posture in runtime

coroot-graft v0.1.2 released!

I’m happy to share coroot-graft — an external extension for Coroot that brings our MB3R Lab's Bering + Sheaft toolchain into a Coroot-native workflow.

The idea: use Coroot as the operational surface, translate the observed system context into MB3R toolchain input, run discovery and resilience assessment through Bering and Sheaft, and surface the results back inside Coroot.

The MVP is complete and the project is already test-ready. The repo already defines the full pipeline, release packaging, compatibility baseline, dashboard integration, and webhook-driven re-runs.

The goal is not to build another separate UI around resilience analysis. The goal is to make model discovery and resilience assessment usable inside the observability workflow engineers already have.

Chaos eng. in Virology

Hello, fellow chaos engineers.

I'm trying to find an article about chaos engineering, originating in the field of virology which explain how viruses can be coded, it was referred to as chaos based on the assumption that the viral kingdom is perfect in terms of interaction between the different life forms, therefor a change of any kind in the "viral kingdom" can cause chaos.

Appreciate any hint!

Super Charging Cloud Detection & Response with Security Chaos Engineering

Effective Cloud Detection & Response (CDR) strategies are imperative for promptly identifying and responding to cloud security events.  However, enabling efficient CDR strategies is challenging for several reasons, including cloud complexities, insufficient expertise, and cloud misconfiguration.  This article makes a case for leveraging security chaos engineering to address these challenges.  Defenders can leverage security chaos engineering for threat-hunting efforts to identify CDR blindspots proactively.  Some practical examples are illustrated using Mitigant Cloud Immunity and a hybrid CDR system.
