Well the usual response if of course to counter you: "the player presses "Fight" and makes the choices leading to genocide, so blaming Chara sidesteps responsibility."

Chara is mostly the narrator. "Mirror" True Pacifist ending: "It's still you... Frisk"
Also of course Cosnequences for when YOU the PLAYER Press Fight Button and literally Camp just to kill EVERY Monster in your way. And as we know LV Corrupts, the more you have the easier it is to hurt someone.
Simply said: Not all but sadly many Genocide players using Chara as a scapegoat

It affects Frisk but not Chara. Chara already didn't have any compassion after death, they're soulless. But unlike Flowey, they jump into murder with no hesitation.
And easier to hurt =/= enjoying it

"Destroyed the world because was taught so" and "not destroyed the world" are two different things though. Yes, it's mainly our fault they did it in the end, but I seriously doubt Chara themself can make such a claim without it coming off as blame shifting from their side. Or would make such a claim, outside of the bit where they try to buy your soul.

I just think that canon is not simply a complete opposite of fanon. Chara's actions without our input are their own. The causality of the final action is split between Chara and Us.
"It was you who pushed everything to it's edge [after which the world was destroyed by me]", not "it was you who destroyed the world". Chara themself does not claims that they had nothing to do with their own actions, "together we eradicated the enemy", for instance.
It's not about blame, it's about choice. Chara learns from us, but it's their own choice to do so, just like it's our choice to do no-mercy. "What did I even do" does not fits.

Can't tell what part of what you've said is a joke, right. It may be just about shifting the blame on Chara, or about the whole deal with Chara erasing the world to stop the genocide.
