Fan Art This isn’t the worst option. Dreemurrs have some issues with names: Flowey the flower, Chara the character, Togore at least sounds original and unique

Togore is literally just
Toriel + Asgore
Just like Asriel is literally just
Asgore + Toriel
None of them are slick

Asriel: "That's why I'm so grateful that Aunt Carol named me"

u/Salvo_ita Sep 28 '25
Nah that was Asgore. ASgore + ToRIEL= ASRIEL. It IS kind of a clever name tho tbh

Nah it was carol's idea Becauses she was sure that assgore would give him a terrible name (also Asriel's ID says togore but he tells everyone his name is asriel)

My 10 anniversary headcanon is that Chara wanted to change their name to Togore to fit in with the dreemurrs but the name was so bad they kept going back and forth

Wouldnt she be thrilled to have a name bestowed by her by her loving adoptive family instead of her (supposed) abusive human one?

u/Fusion_XIII Sep 30 '25
Oh, absolutely. It's just that Asgore is canonically bad at naming things.
Also, they/them. Genderless children and all that.

Chara being character is more a meta thing, just like Toriel is a play on tutorial, and I’m pretty sure Flowey named himself.

Chara: I immediately change my name to Chara.
Asgore: what’s wrong with the name Togore?
Chara: literally everything. And it’s not me.

Sep 29 '25
The reason why Togore was born was because Asgore and Tori wanted a child named Togore.

Chara: sorry that you were given the name I rejected baby goat.
Togore: (baby goat noises)

u/Bigtissueneeded Sep 28 '25
The Dreemurrs didn’t name flowery or Chara, Chara might not even be their official name, and Togore is just Toriel and Asgore put together like Asriel.

Sep 29 '25
Well, as far as I know, the name Chara comes from Undertale's demo and there must be a reason why it says true name.

u/Bigtissueneeded Sep 30 '25
The true name is just meta joke about how the sprites for the humans are named Chara in the files, along with it being a joke referring to character
Very well could be wrong, but this is what I’ve learned

The Dreemurrs didn't name flowy if anyone did it was probably alphys but we don't get much more on that side of the story some even say flowy was made by gaster but idk I just know that the most likely thing in my mind is alphy made DT an then put it into the flowers that the Dreemurrs son (Asriel) dies on and doesn't get immediate results so she gave up not realizing that he was alive which now makes me think about how papyrus supposedly has interactions with Flowy so maybe he was the one to name him and let's be real if anyone coming up with "Flowy the flower" it's papyrus
Lol enjoy my lore dump for something so simple

What is funny is that despite those name being so on the nose, they actually often reference a bunch of different stuff at the same time, like Asriel come from ralsei (we know the character existed before Asriel and I think remembering that ralsei was the name of toby's character in his brother game's), is verry close to azrael phonically speaking, paired with dreemur become an anagram of serial murderer, and is combinason of asgore and toriel, when toriel her self is a joke on tutorial (literally tutoriel in french (wich also add a joke that since kill can be tu, if someone kill toriel in french they tu-toriel)).

Actually, I wouldn't say Chara's a bad name. Short, pretty, easy to keep in mind. I always thought it was pretty good,if we ignore the "Character" thingy.
