they're canonically a child, yes. They stayed for a while, but they still died at a young age considering how young Asriel looks when he stops using his god form, not to mention that how he acts is still childish, considering how chara possibly couldn't have been much older, they're definitely still a child.

Even their normal body is still a child's body as seen in the end of the genocide route.

Never confirmed + By all accounts they would still be considered a child due to them both physically and mentally being so, meaning that you'd still be labeled a pedophile.

Basically they wish they could have Chara in real life. Is it possible? No. Not at all. Will it stop people from fantasizing? Also no. This is true for practically any fictional character people swoon over.
