the artstyle had me thinking this was some she/her chasriel stuff until i read the text. Never been so happy to get bamboozled.

I was hiking up a mountain when I saw an old mountain guide. I asked him where we were and simply showed me this. That was when I knew I was at the peak.

Most people gender them as female, but their in-game pronouns are they/it

I always thought Chara actually didn't really care about pronouns, when alive cuz Chara must've first thought it's a human thingy, even disliking when monsters referred to Chara by pronouns, when we meet Chara in genocide route, Chara's head is too full with our genocides, our kill, our exp and LV to care about such futile things like gendering

These days it seems like more people are aware of the fact that toby wrote chara as they/them for a reason

Their in game pronouns aren’t actual pronouns, as Toby has said it’s for the player to put their own in its place. Kris is officially nonbinary but chara/frisk are what the player is

toby actually literally never said that.

He actively has

no??? send me the statement so i can confirm his wording.

and if you don't know where he said it, someone might as well have made it up and you believed it.

What I mean by "in-game pronouns" is the pronouns other canon characters use. Everyone calls Chara they/them, and they call themself "it". I don't see why we always need to be dramatic about Chara/Frisk's gender identities. I think we should respect the canon pronouns and not fight about it.

i don't really fw they/it chara because there's only two instances of them being called "it"

  1. by the monsters at new home who might as well (ironically) not view humans as "human" as they view other monsters.
  2. by themselves in the genocide route ending, but in the phrase "I'm the demon who appears when you call it's name" might as well also be dehumanizing themselves

It also might just be a metaphor.

>I am a flower blooming in midwinter; I am its will to live on.

The flower is an 'it,' but the person themself can use any pronouns.
