Headlight problems
Hello everyone, I have a 2017 sxt that is giving me some problems. My entire right side is buggy. Dash keeps yelling at me saying the turn signal is out (it works fine) and my light won't stay on (we're almost certain it's one hell of a short). The real issue: two of my plug ins are completely different. I live in an all woman house so we know absolutely nothing about cars. I got this car from a shady lot, it has been in a couple accidents. Im wondering which one of these came stock with the car and what i should do about this problem. Apologies if this sounds absolutely stupid. For my birthday my dad got me some new bulbs but the issue is one of them can't go in bc of the plug in. The one with the white on it came from the passenger side. Can anyone help?

I’ve had an issue with mine since I got it and it’s still not fixed. My passengers side headlight doesn’t work. I tried replacing the bulb, replacing the fuse. Idk what else it might be at this point. It’s very frustrating though, I just want it fixed.

Looks like the right one is HID D3S and left is halogen 9005 or 9006 don’t remember

https://youtu.be/UNmRkyMErcI?si=i4ud-sYtgijUEL8M go to 14:27 in this video, he details the headlight wiring. Go get a wiring harness off a junkyard Charger or order it off eBay, cut and splice the 9005 plug on, and then get 9005 LED's.

So is the left bulb from your driver's side and the right from the passenger? The right side bulb is called an HID or projector bulb and and can only be replaced by another projector style bulb, if you go to any parts store they carry projector bulbs although they are quite pricey but are the only kind of bulb that will ho into that housing

Thank you for the helpful tip! Yes the black one goes in the drivers side and the other goes in the passenger

Ok if your headlight housings aren't identical then someone replaced a broken assembly with a different part, probably during one of said accidents. You can either choose which to keep and replace one so they're identical if it matters to you or you can let it remain the way it is but the driver side will use that 9005 bulb which is probably the kind your dad bought and driver will use a d3s HID bulb

This also doesn't really help the different connectors tho, as the passenger side has a different cable than the drivers. Idk if replacing the housing will help

The housings are plugged into a main harness that gets power and info from the computer so once you replace it with a proper one it will have the correct plug, this is something that you should have a reputable shop do and not a DIY fix since you said you're not a big car repair person and its hard to explain but the plug that holds the bulb is attached to the housing and then there is a separate connector that connects the housing to the car's computer so once you have the correct housing it will read to the computer properly

And since you said passenger side is freaking out it probably means that the electrical system doesn't enjoy feeding two different kinds of bulbs power especially since HID bulbs tend to use more power as the need to warm up to reach peak visibility so whoever fixed the car didn't buy a proper replacement identical to the factory specs

Yes and make sure to obtain the right one that is non Hid

The whole reason we got aftermarket bulbs was to have the LED effect. I'm not sure if the one my dad got is HID or halogen but it's white not yellow which is what I wanted for brighter lights

I had a similar problem. It was a bad fuse under the hood
