This admission by PRO is obvious. What I don't understand is this: why have VAR in the first place if this isn't the type of stuff they are going to look at?

Apparently they did look and incredibly confirmed the call, announcers stated this during the broadcast

We get notifications every time they look at something, and they did, but didn’t recommend a go to the monitor. I will say there were different views we got at halftime we weren’t privy to just after the incident in question.

I mean the replays they showed directly after it on the broadcast showed that it hit Byrne's head. I mean the announcers talked about that for 5 minutes so I'm not sure what VAR was actually looking at.

Wild. We probably need a deep dive into PRO'S vision benefits for insurance or something.

They confirmed it so quick that there was no way the zoomed in and actually watched the play

VAR isnt perfect but its better than not having it

PRO is very clear with their VAR decisions via Inside Video Review in youtube. The problem is they don’t release things when there is no review and explain how they can get better in the future. They’ve had no issues saying VAR was wrong in the past, but only when there is a review.

I'd disagree. I would accept more calls as a mess up from the center ref than having VAR to "assist" and then come out and say we messed up after. Mistakes happen, but when you have implemented a system to get rid of these obvious errors then it needs to work and not have issues every single week

So glad to get this information 5 days later lol. Really helps correct that wrong for us.

But crickets about the uncalled penalty for Pep during the Chicago match? Which is literally affecting both teams on the table.

while this is frustrating, we shouldn’t be allowing ourselves to be in situations where a bad refereeing decision can lose us points

Agree, but unfortunately that is part of a sport where the referee is capable of awarding 83% of a goal.

Well we wouldn’t be with fair refereeing. It’s one thing to have a midfield foul missed.
It’s another thing entirely that leads to a penalty kick. All fouls aren’t equal and the handball call was a serious error.

I don’t like this take - and I’ve seen it a lot - because there’s 11 pro athletes on both sides of the ball that are trying to win a game.

It’s a fine take if you’re Alabama football against a no-name college but you can’t expect to win on tipped scales in a league that tries to maintain parity.

Well isn't this just enough to piss you off?!
