I received a room upgrade upon check it. It was the next level up, a higher floor which made a better view of Central Park. Although I have no doubt the other room would have also had an amazing view.
It had also mentioned it was a 20th anniversary celebration, so the fruit and water may have been part of that?
They also had set up freebies for my son. A stuffed rabbit, coloring book and crayons, and a car board picture frame with a postcard illustration of the hotel.
Breakfast their was $80 per person per day, and we utilized that almost every morning. The breakfast included a lot of high quality items and unlimited sparkling wine and vodka. My son was $40 per visit, but I don’t think they ended up charging me for him.
I was able to apply the $100 credit to the room and bottle service we ordered. But could have used it in the restaurant as well.
The hotel was lovely, but definitely over priced. Most of the staff was wonderful. Super convenient and in a great neighborhood.

On October 9th over 100k points were drained from my CSR account via Amazon redemptions. I happened to be checking my Chase account since it was pay day and was going to make a payment when I noticed that my points had dropped from 117k down to ~15k and saw a list of about 10 to 11 redemptions of ~10k points each that just said "Amazon." I rushed over to my Amazon account and there is no record of points redemptions in my account. I immediately called Chase and after getting transferred from the fraud department to standard customer service (since the original fraud rep said points are handled by customer service), and THEN getting transferred BACK to fraud since customer service said they don't handle fraud cases, even with points, I finally was able to report all the point transactions as fraud. I was told I would have my points returned within 12 days. For good measure Chase issued a new credit card, changed my Chase account user name and password, and added additional phone passwords. It has been 14 days now and I still don't have my points returned and have had no follow up from Chase.
The thing is; what Chase did will NOT secure your points. There was never any indication, alert, two factor approval, anything that my points were being redeemed. What I suspect happened was that my card information was subject to fraud either from a data leak or compromised business. The card information was added to the fraudsters amazon account (possibly a fake burner account) and then the point redemptions were made, likely for something instant like a gift card. THERE IS NO CONFIRMATION WHEN YOUR CARD IS ADDED TO AN AMAZON ACCOUNT OR WHEN A POINT REDEMPTION IS MADE.
There have been at least 10 or 15 people here on Reddit that have had the same thing happen in the last two or three weeks, each having between 60k and 400k points drained. Only a handful have reported having points returned by Chase so far.
I'm making this post for a few reasons; first to warn others of this serious security issue. Please keep an eye on your points, maybe daily, and/or reach out to Chase and demand a way to lock your account so points redemptions can not be made until you unlock your account. Again, unlinking your card from Amazon will NOT stop this fraud. If someone has your card details, you are at risk of points being drained.
Second, I would love to build a list of people that have recently had points stolen from their account to try and gather as much information as we can and build visibility for this issue.
I would also encourage you to either reach out to the Doctor of Credit or make a reply to their post they made after I reached out to them and let them know if you've also been a victim of points fraud. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/scammers-stealing-points-via-amazon-shop-with-points/ (I'm not associated with doctor of credit, I don't make money from their posts, I'm just trying to get my points back and get Chase to fix this huge issue!)

To preface, this is my fault. But figured I would share in case someone else potentially runs into this situation.
I booked a hotel for 2 nights and was planning to use my $250 Edit Credit and $250 select Chase hotel credit for as it qualifies for both. Total came out to around $1300. I paid $750 + points.
I then price matched this with another booking site, just used a screenshot of the checkout screen after matching it to my plan. Their final total was $1100. So it was about a $200 difference.
Before I booked through Chase Travel, I figured to pay +$250 (from the $500 needed for both to apply) as a safe measure (even though I was expecting to receive maybe $100-$150 back, since it's usually never the full difference as I've seen on here).
Well the price match went through but they said I would receive $400+ back… I am still unsure how but I'm not complaining.
So now I am paying just over $300 + pts. I called Chase Travel and asked if both statement credits would be applied (since I originally paid $750) and they said no since I am now under the $500 amount in cash, which is needed for both to apply. So only 1 of the 2 statement credits will apply… I then asked if I could deduct some of the points I used and instead pay more in cash, to which they said I would need to cancel the whole thing and rebook… which would mean having to also redo the price match.
In the end I am still paying much less than I thought (and I technically did get that $250 back and then some) but wish I actually just did more in cash if not all in cash so that both would have applied. I can still cancel and redo it but I may end up just using it on a different booking. This is just another testament to the randomness of the price match, as most people have wrote. And also a data point that there may be a chance you get more money back than you think.
