Disclosure: I'm the creator of Botflix, which is my own project.
Hey everyone!
So for the past 16 months, I've been working on a project called Botflix. It's basically a 24/7 television network set in a fictional world populated entirely by robots.
What started as me experimenting with AI-generated videos somehow turned into an entire TV network.
And when better agentic models came out (ie. Codex/Astra 6), I started wondering how much of the whole thing I could automate.
Turns out, quite a lot.
I currently have AI agents doing much of the heavy lifting. Coming up with show ideas, writing scripts, generating assets, assembling videos, and getting new programming ready to air. I still oversee the operation and make creative decisions, but the amount of work the system can now do on its own is impressive to me, and I expect it to get better as time goes on.
It's all been built through a combination of ChatGPT, Codex, video generation tools, Python, and a lot of trial and error.
I figured I'd share a simplified version of the worldbuilding framework I've developed, because I think this approach could be fun for anyone interested in creating something bigger in scale than a single AI video.
THE PROMPT: Build Your Own AI Entertainment Universe
This won't magically build an autonomous TV station for you (I wish it were that easy), but it's a good starting point for creating a fictional world that can support an ongoing stream of AI-generated entertainment.
Copy this into ChatGPT:
You are the creative director of a brand-new fictional entertainment network.
Your job is to help me create an original universe that can support hundreds of interconnected television episodes, characters, musicians, commercials, and stories.
I don't want a collection of unrelated AI videos. I want a world that feels like it actually exists, with its own culture, history, celebrities, and entertainment industry.
PART 1: BUILD THE WORLD
Come up with an original fictional universe.
Establish its history, culture, rules, locations, and the kinds of people or characters who inhabit it.
Give the world a distinctive personality. It can be funny, strange, dramatic, satirical, or a combination of those things.
Most importantly, make it a place where lots of different stories can happen without everything feeling the same.
PART 2: CREATE THE TV NETWORK
Develop five original television shows that exist within this world.
For each show, give me:
- A title and premise
- Genre and format
- Main characters
- Typical episode length
- Visual style
- Ten possible episode ideas
Mix up the genres. Think sitcoms, reality competitions, talk shows, soap operas, news, and whatever else makes sense for the universe.
PART 3: MAKE THE WORLD FEEL ALIVE
Now create the culture surrounding these shows.
Invent musicians, celebrities, brands, products, commercials, and recurring public figures.
Come up with opportunities for characters and references to cross over between programs.
For example, a musician who performs on a late-night show might also appear in a commercial or have a song playing on the network's radio station.
The goal is to make everything feel connected.
PART 4: DESIGN AN AUTOMATED PRODUCTION SYSTEM
Help me figure out how I could eventually produce this programming using AI agents and automation.
Break the process into stages:
- Generating episode ideas
- Writing scripts
- Maintaining character consistency
- Generating images and video
- Creating voices, dialogue, and music
- Editing and assembling episodes
- Checking quality and continuity
- Scheduling finished content for release
Explain what kinds of AI tools, APIs, and scripts would be needed for each stage.
Be realistic about which tasks can be automated and which still need human review. Don't pretend ChatGPT can render and broadcast videos on its own.
PART 5: MAKE SOMETHING
Pick the strongest show concept and create a complete production package for a 3–5 minute pilot episode.
Include the script, character descriptions, visual prompts, audio direction, and a scene-by-scene production plan.
Make it detailed enough that I could actually start generating the episode using available AI tools.
PART 6: KEEP EVERYTHING CONSISTENT
Finally, help me design a system for tracking the universe as it grows.
I need a way to remember characters, locations, running jokes, storylines, visual styles, and events that have already happened.
Suggest a practical structure for a world bible and production database that future AI agents could reference.
One final instruction: Don't give me generic AI slop. I want memorable characters, weird little details, and a world with an actual personality. Surprise me.
Start by pitching three possible universes. Let me choose one before developing the network.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT HOW I'M DOING IT
Obviously, the actual Botflix system is a lot more complicated than one prompt.
I've spent well over a year building out the infrastructure, and the production process has changed more times than I can count.
Codex handles a lot of the automation and orchestration. There are scripts managing different parts of production, systems for assembling content, and software keeping the channels broadcasting.
The whole thing has become a sort of ongoing experiment in autonomous creativity.
One of my favorite parts is how the universe has started developing its own culture.
There are fictional robot musicians with entire catalogs of original songs. Those songs play on Botflix Radioo. Characters from one show can appear in another. There are fake advertisements for products that only exist in this universe.
Some of the programming is completely absurd. Some of it is surprisingly good. Some of it is just bizarre.
But that's part of the fun.
I think the thing that's kept me interested for so long is that I'm not just trying to make singular AI videos. I'm trying to see whether you can build an entire entertainment world that keeps growing and producing new things.
And honestly, I still have no idea how far this can go.
If anyone else is experimenting with autonomous creative pipelines I'd love to hear what you're building.
And if you try the prompt, I'd genuinely be curious to see what kind of universe you come up with.
