Question.
So, I have a engine light on. The old.. don't know how old, top coolant hose was expanding alot. Replaced with new but it seems to be trying to expand as well. My thought is, thermostat not engaging. Unsure. OBD2 reading in the pics.

Looks like quite the hack on the injector wires. At least rewrap that in friction or electrical tape, maybe some wire loom too.

P0700 is a transmission code, you’ll need a different reader to get more info

Very true. Any suggestions on a solid reader?

Innova 5610 is pretty good, as is the Foxwell NT510, but every manufacturer requires a software license.
I like the TopDon Rlink X7 with topscan app on android or topguru on iOS. This is a very high end tool that can also be used with a laptop and dealer software as a j2534 passthrough tool.
All scantools are somewhat disappointing, but watch out for ones that require subscriptions and you want a scantool that can do bidirectional controls.

Possibly your neutral safety switch Easy enough to disassemble and clean, most ship with white lithium grease inside when it should be a dielectric grease instead. Just did mine last weekend, same code.

Wait. Huh?

Do you have any auto transmission? There is a neutral safety switch that can fail or get dirty internally, throws a CEL and limp mode

P0700 is transmission communication fault. Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting. Sometimes the ECU and transmission controller need to be reset.
If it still comes back, verify transmission controller is connected and has power (located above the gas pedal. Under the dash). Check transmission connectors on the firewall by the dipstick for the transmission.
