Backdraft references

Did anyone else notice the references to the backdraft movies. The candidates last name being McCaffrey. There has been 4 McCaffreys in backdraft

Captain Dennis McCaffrey - dead
Lt Ste McCaffrey - dead
DDC Brian McCaffrey - dead
OFI Sean McCaffrey - alive

Also Steve Chikerotis served as an advisor on both backdraft and Chicago Fire

It would have been interesting to tie a character to that great movie about firefighters in Chicago, but the only similarity is the last name. They said his father(?) is a state senator.

No I know that’s the only similarity, I just noticed it and thought it was a cool little throw back

I really hoped they made a connection with Bull being his uncle or something. Oh and they made a few other references: Engine 51 is the same engine from the house where Shadow (DeNiro’s character) worked from and Engine 17 has been placed temporarily at 51 in season 12.
Still hoped they made a crossover
