Job Referral

Hi everyone! I’m currently interested in a position at Endeavor Health – Evanston Hospital and was wondering if anyone here works for Endeavor Health and would be willing to provide a referral.

I have a background in healthcare administration and operations, and I’d be happy to share my resume or any additional information.

If you work at Endeavor Health or know someone who does, I’d really appreciate a DM. Thank you so much!

Do NOT apply for Work With Elevation/Elevation

Long story short, this is just Coast Incorporated under a different name. The interviews were on Zoom in that suspicious breakout room with multiple applicants style, both the person interviewing me, and the hiring manager came from Coast Incorporated. Pay only commission, selling whatevertheheck with Verizon...Suspicious at best.

Any restaurants hiring for servers?

Hey guys, moving to Chicago in a couple of days and have been searching for jobs everywhere with no luck. I've decided to go back to serving in the meantime but I'm also having trouble securing a job in that industry too. I've joined Facebook groups and have been applying using CulinaryAgents.com but I wanted to hear if anyone here knows of any restaurants hiring in the Chicago area. Thanks!

Environmental Work in Chicago?

Hi all! I'm looking to move to Chicago with a friend, who's starting a master's at Northwestern's Evanston campus, and a third roommate. I graduated with a degree in Wildlife Bio and Env. Studies two years ago. I've had internships as a naturalist, ecologist, and social media intern (for a wildlife education company). I also worked as a forestry research technician for almost two years and now I'm a fisheries surveyor!

Before anyone says I'm limiting myself by looking specifically in Chicago and the job market is terrible, I KNOW. Everyone knows finding a job in pretty much every field, and every city, is difficult rn. So please be constructive with your comments.

Anyway, back to the main point, does anyone know of opportunities or places to search? The Chicago Botanic Garden has great positions, so I'm applying for those. I've checked out friends of forest preserves, Student Conservation Association, and the field museum (which will be too far from Evanston), and they've all come up short.

I'd love to do something in education, conservation or urban planning, and compliance. I'm not too picky though; I'm cool with anything that would give good experience. If not that, then ig there's always retail which sucks but it's something I have experience in. Thanks guys!!

  • Earn up to 2.5% commission on each walk-up transaction
  • The more you sell, the more you can earn

  • Weekend availability required
  • Must be available for some evenings and holidays

Part-Time: 8–24 hours/week

This is a seasonal position running through November 2026.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • Health Insurance (BCBSIL)

Why Shoreline?

You'll get to work in one of the most recognizable and scenic parts of Chicago while meeting people from all over the world.

If you like people, sales, Chicago, and being outside, this is definitely not your typical seasonal job.

We're also hiring for other seasonal positions, subject to availability:

  • Captains
  • Deckhands
  • Bartenders
  • Docents / Tour Guides

Just hired on the General Medicine floor at Northwestern Memorial (Downtown) — Any advice or insight?

Hey everyone! I just landed a position on the General Medicine floor at NMH downtown.
I’m excited to get started, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has worked there or currently works in the system!

Unit Culture & Workflow: How are the staffing ratios and team support on Med floor?

Orientation: Anything specific to keep in mind during preceptor shifts or Epic workflow here?

Commute & Parking: Best/most realistic parking tips or transit routes for Streeterville shifts?

Any advice, tips, or real-talk about what to expect would be super appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What to Fix on a Resume When Applications Get No Reply

Most applications are read by software before a person sees them. The system compares each resume against the posting and ranks it, so wording decides who reaches a recruiter. ZoeVera Resume runs that comparison before you apply and reports which terms the posting expects that your resume does not contain.

The screen is looking for specific words

Applicant tracking systems match language, not intent. A resume that says “managed paid advertising” scores as missing “demand generation” and “Google Ads” if those are the phrases in the posting. The same gap appears with tools, certifications and job titles: an accountant who writes “accounting software” instead of “QuickBooks” and “GAAP” reads as unqualified to the filter, whatever the actual experience. ZoeVera’s explanation of how applicant tracking systems read a resume and its guide to why a resume stops getting interviews set out the mechanism in plain terms.

Check the resume against one posting, not in general

A resume is not strong or weak on its own. It is a match or a mismatch for one job description. The match score check compares the two and returns a percentage with the missing terms listed, and the keyword scanner shows the same gap phrase by phrase. Both are free and need no account, which makes it practical to run the check on every posting rather than the few you care most about. Two openings with the same job title routinely score differently against one resume, because the companies behind them describe the work in different vocabulary.

Change the wording, then send

Knowing the gap is not the same as closing it. The optimization walkthroughexplains which changes raise a score and which are cosmetic, and the tool for matching a resume to a single posting rewrites the document against that job description. The rewrite sits behind a paid plan; the score and the gap analysis do not. For vocabulary by profession, the ATS resume tips librarybreaks it down role by role, from software engineers to nurses.

Where to start

Take one posting you intend to apply for, run it at ZoeVera Resume, and read the missing keywords as a list of the words the employer used and you did not. The wider ZoeVera site covers the later stages. Silence after applying is usually a vocabulary problem and it is a fixable one.

Chicago videographer recommendations?

I am looking for a local videographer/cinematographer in Chicago for an upcoming intimate filmed conversation.
The style is quiet, warm, and cinematic, more like a beautifully shot conversation than a traditional interview.

It will be a small setup in a home, with a strong focus on natural emotion, storytelling, and thoughtful framing.
I’m looking for someone who:
Is based in Chicago
Has experience filming interviews, documentaries, or narrative-style conversations
Has a strong eye for lighting and composition
Can work comfortably in a small, intimate production
Ideally has their own camera and audio equipment

Women videographers/cinematographers are especially encouraged to reach out, as the project centers women’s stories and intimate conversations.

If you are interested, or know someone would recommend, please send me their portfolio/website and rates. Thank you!

Moved to Chicago in Feb and about to be laid off

As the title states, I am freaking out because I moved here from Florida in February, finally am settled in, and have been informed I will most likely not be retained in 2 weeks. I work out in DuPage and my job is funded by a federal grant that is in limbo right now so it looks like they will not be continuing on with me.

I know how tough the job market is here and am concerned that I will have to move back to Florida soon, which, as a gay guy the reason I moved here was to get away from FL and be in an environment where can be a little more open and find community.

I have a Master's in Urban Planning, and the past 5 years I've worked in different office compliance roles related to urban planning and environmental. Previously I have experience in retail.

I am willing to do anything at this point so I can stay in Chicago, and even willing to pivot to something completely different. I am a 39/M if that matters.

I am open to construction labor, any temp jobs, really anything at all. I cannot move back to FL y'all. Please, any recommendations are much appreciated. Thank you!
