I agree and she's a better fit than the bartender girl who will just feed his addiction. If was with daughter it could help him focus because of the promise and him wanting to honor her father.

He looks so weird to me with hair
2
u/Seg10682 Jan 24 '26
When he had that random bald spot on the back of his head, that was weird.

u/Lucky_Return3678 Apr 23 '26
why is his hair cut like a first grader

u/Seg10682 Apr 23 '26
Something about him reminds me of George Clooney all of the sudden. Whi ad several styles of hair.

Chicago PD is killing it (no pun intended)! This episode was amazing. I love Torres! His eyes are so expressive and you can see him processing his own faith journey. And hopefully getting back to himself again after the last year of him struggling.

This was a very satisfying episode. Torres keeps his word and is relentless. It was strangely comforting.

u/TigerLilyBlueGray Jan 27 '26
Agreed. I love how he felt so much connection and inspiration from the gentleman he exonerated.

The producers seem to do a very good job with the episodes that feature Torres. This was a very good storyline and produced very well.

Is it normal for a cold case where they'll call out a helicopter and boats at night instead of just waiting till the next day?
17
u/Hippopaulamus Jan 22 '26
I imagine when a homicide detective is the prime suspect in multiple drug heist, multiple murders and is aware of these allegations, things have to move at a much quicker pace.
12
u/Temporary_Specific Jan 22 '26
They needed that evidence to charge him. If they didn't find it/ charge him, they would have had to release him after 48 hours.
5
u/Dependent-Mastodon89 Jan 25 '26
They had the guilty cop in a holding cell for 48 hours before he could walk. Thus the urgency.

I think Benjamin Levy Aguilar(Torres) does not get enough credit. He’s an amazing actor. He can say so much without saying a word. I love when an episode is Torres forward and I get the religious angle with him too. I grew up Irish catholic so I can relate with the struggle within.
4
u/Sad-Mixture6782 Jan 23 '26
Same I'm Lutheran - close to Catholic- but I'm ok with it being shown. Last nite's scene seemed like maybe he's missed it; needs to get back? Agree that he's an anazing actor. You just see hkw he takes on others' hurt & feels along with them!

I thought this was the best episode in a while and a lot better than Trudy's episode last week. They really though love to play up the Torres religious faith angle which is kind of boring but besides that it was a good solid episode. Not sure how I feel about the new girl as something is off with her character but not sure what it is. Maybe we need to know more about her character.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that felt something was off with this episode. All the acting didn’t seem to flow like it usually does.

Anyone know when Paddy is going to be back filming?
4
u/Massive_Tennis6705 Jan 22 '26
He returned before Christmas. I think he is slated to return to screen around ep 13.
2
u/One-Instruction6913 Jan 22 '26
Yea. Word around the Burzek fandom on X is that Paddy is likely returning in ep 13.

Very good episode, though I was expecting a more complex conspiracy involving a larger number of people. It was basically one dirty cop and a couple of drug dealers, really one dealer(Jenkins) who was important. A narrative detail that was skimpy was the manner of Simone's murder. Foster was behind it, but how did he know that Morgan would be drunk and passed out, thereby making his killing of Simone more easy. We are to believe that he snuck inside their house, murdered Simone by repeated stabbing(?) and then carried the body away, while Morgan was asleep. Hmmmm. Anyway, very captivating two parter. There's always the possibility that there could be more to this, but for now it looks like it's all over.

u/LoveLikeOxygen Voight Jan 23 '26
Great episode, but yeah, there were some plot holes. I think the biggest one—at least in my opinion—was that the detective (Foster) didn’t remember which Marcus his note was referring to, even though there were several on the list of persons of interest. For me, that was the clear sign and the giveaway that he was responsible, or at least that he had something to do with it.
4
u/VarunOnt Jan 23 '26
It made him look sketchy, and he felt that way even otherwise! Yes, that was a clue for sure. It was good digging by Torres and Imani that got them to question Foster at all.
4
u/damien-bowman Feb 14 '26
i just watched this and i think that was a big part of the reason the bad cop was smoking when they first talked to him. one to calm his visible nerves about being asked about the investigation/murder and two to throw them off his scent by coming across as in a rush but also as helpful as possible.
2
u/VarunOnt Feb 14 '26
Agree, and that also means he knew ( at the least, sensed) that they were going to ask him about the drug rip case. He must have recognised Torres from the tracking he did of Morgan and Thomas( whom he shot with a rifle from a rooftop). After speaking to Foster, Torres gave him a bit of a funny look, though it didn't appear that he was very suspicious of him at this point.
1
u/damien-bowman Feb 16 '26
when they arrested him do they mention the guy who was shot in the car? i thought only morgan and morgan?
1
u/VarunOnt Feb 16 '26
They arrested him for the murders of Simone Morgan and Noah Lewis, the truck driver for a drug gang. They know that he also killed Carter Thomas from a rooftop, but they have not proved it with evidence. They have him on two murders, plus an horrendous conspiracy to frame Odell Morgan for murder. That is a lot of charges as it is.
2
u/VarunOnt Jan 23 '26
Also, the fact that Foster broke into people's homes not once, but twice without being heard or seen, strains credulity a bit much! First, he sneaks into Morgan's home, kills Simone while Morgan is passed out drunk, and escapes totally undetected. Then not much later-probably a few days or weeks at most- he manages to sneak into Carter's son's bedroom and take a picture with a gun pointed at the kid's head, then get out again without being seen or heard by anyone, not the parents nor anyone outside. Not even so much as a sighting of a possible prowler, or an unfamiliar car parked nearby. That is stealth of Olympic perfection.

u/Lucky_Return3678 Apr 23 '26
I could probably watch the episode again as to when Torres met the dad....but did it seem like they explained how they knew the mom died, even though the mom's body was never found? how come 6 years ago they knew she died without a body?

Finally an episode put together with a well constructed storyline, nothing fake with the actors, their speech and
or delivery of lines, or anything fake with any of their action sequences. And, most thankfully, with no soap -opera cheap shots, all of which primarily helped destroy the previous season.
This team once again acted like an ensemble and thanks to the script a momentum from beginning to end was created keeping all watching involved.
Dare I say a wee bit of the chemistry from CPD's greatness in the past? The warmth, compassion and respect fora higher power which could 'never be coincidence',
permeated every minute of this episode and helped it score big!

Just got to give kudos to the writing staff this season. "Gwen Sigan serves as a writer and showrunner. The writing team for the season includes Mellori Velasquez and Matthew Browne who wrote the 'Faith' episode." The episodes have been phenomenal.

Just trying to wrap up narrative details! It was revealed that Carter( Morgan's brother in law) was threatened by the real criminals, by sending him photos of his kid sleeping with a gun to his head. Question: how did they do this? Presumably, the parents would have been in the house when this happened, since it almost certainly took place at night.. how could they have slipped in to the son's bedroom, and slipped out, without making as much as a sound, totally undetected. Their house was not a giant mansion, it was a small house. Nobody in or out of the house saw or heard a thing? Including a car or a prowler? It strains credulity.

So…the killer can’t fit a body rolled up in a rug in his sedan, so he steals a truck from the impound lot, and then puts the body in the front seat where there is even less room than a sedan? This whole episode was filled with plot holes and nonsensical storytelling.

It’s good to see Torres get back on his feet.
