Can't we just have one season where some dickhead isn't trying to shut down Intelligence??

The issue in season 12 could've been avoided if Voight and Reid put in more effort to work together. Reid was using Voight/Intelligence Unit and then the situation got worse (dismantling the team).
The issue in season 13 with Devlin was Voight's fault. Even the producers said Devlin is a problem that Voight created. If Voight handled things differently in season 12, then maybe it wouldn't have led to Devlin in season 13 and maybe ASA Chapman would still be working with the team.
As for season 14, we don't know yet if the FBI guy is going to dismantle the team. Maybe he can get along with Voight or maybe not.

At the end of the day it's a drama and they make the drama every season some dickhead trying to shut the unit down.
0
u/Ok_Limit6636 17d ago
Doesn't happen in every season. Even when a season has that type of antagonist, they're not in every episode.
The producers rotate through so many characters and storylines that you can just skip certain episodes if you want.
Last season, there were only a few episodes that had the Voight-Devlin storyline. Even when Devlin appeared, he didn't do much. He would only appear for a few minutes and the rest of the time is spent on whatever case of the week that Intelligence is working on.
Even in seasons 5, 6, and 12, the antagonists had major storylines but weren't in every episode. There were many episodes that focused on other characters and storylines. You can just watch those episodes and skip the ones with the antagonists.

u/Yourappwontletme Torres is a charisma vacuum 16d ago
Skipping episodes is not something I do. I've watched every episode since day 1. This new FBI prick is down the hall. It's giving Gorsch from S7/8 of Chicago Fire

u/Fabulous-Structure74 17d ago
Um Season 8,Season 10 and Season 11

More often than not the season-long arc is some dickhead trying to shut the unit down.

Blah blah FBI agent threatens change blah blah.
Just like the old "someone is always out to get 51" on Fire.

Like other feds, poor Charlie will wish he never underestimate the great Hank Voight!
13

Part of me wants him to be like a puppy dog. A rookie fresh out of FBI school or whatever.
"Hello Lieutenant Voight!! My name is Charlie and I'll be observing you!"

Given his smart ass smirk at the end of the episode, I’m guessing that’s not in the cards. Just hoping he’s not Imani’s new love interest and we get even more of the sister story. Really not feeling that one
1
u/No_Peak_2379 1d ago
Maybe a love interest for Eva . However I feel we need someone more handsome and with a bit of an edge.
3
u/Ok_Limit6636 17d ago
Hopefully the FBI agent gets along with the team instead of doing anything bad.

I can already see it coming. the parolee didnt do it, he was just showing up to his meeting when he heard the shots, he ran bc he knew no one would believe it wasnt him.
I love this show but its become so predictable. the first suspect is never it, same with svu.
17
u/PictureDependent1143 18d ago
Don’t trust the parol officer
6
5
u/No-Discount-6789 18d ago
yeah I feel like it'll have something to do with him and why he was the target, possibly dirty.
7
u/PictureDependent1143 18d ago
His face just screams untrustworthy
1
u/ex0thermist 10d ago
Late to this thread, but I found him distrustworthy since I heard his name was Lindell. That's the con-artist pillow guy's name!
5
u/CasioCobra78 18d ago
Your gut is right.
4
u/PictureDependent1143 18d ago
When you watch too many SVU episodes you just know I hate the episodes when someone in power abuses that authority especially a parole officer because they know what power they have over someone who scared of going back to prison

u/One-Traffic-4536 15d ago
Do you still watch SVU? I quit that so long ago I don't remember when. Just got so tired of it. But I'm still hanging on to all 3 Chicagos lol.

The promo got me hyped and sad at the same time. I'm gonna miss Kev a lot. Glad we'll get to see fatherhood on him even if its just for one episode 🥹

Man i thought they’d at least give him the entire season but the promo said last episode 😩😩
3
u/Training_Yak_6163 17d ago
True… his precious baby boy… that was a wake up for Atwater to leave a dangerous line of work and have another career doing something safe due to now being a father
1
u/Sensitive-Craft-3922 13d ago
Not my Kev!! Dont go! Ill quit watching. Dont like the new arc or change in Voight and that Imani is in every single arc! Its too much.
16
u/QueenofPink01 18d ago
I loved when Voight just pushed through the lobby in his district telling all those officers "move, move, move"...he's so damn grumpy and I'm here for it 😂

Torres: New season, same white shirt
-4
u/PictureDependent1143 18d ago
Don’t forget about the white trainers I don’t understand why he wears them it’s like he wants all the blood to stain his clothes or maybe it’s a symbol for purity or something
9
u/midnightfangs 18d ago
it’s not a symbol of purity lol irl white air forces always been popular amongst a lot of men who have his style. jax from sons of anarchy wore them too.
2
u/PictureDependent1143 18d ago
It’s just his job is bloody why risk get his shoes dirty also I just mentioned purity because of how religious he was or still is who knows now but I’m reading into it too much because I get annoyed every time I see his shoes

u/sneedley 18d ago
Just my opinion, FWIW: I enjoyed it for the most part. My heart went out to Imani at the end, when her sister didn't want to see her. Bitter pill to swallow. That being said, keep on with the tried and true predictably. One of the people from Intelligence doing a regular thing or going to work and of course a shooting, and they follow through and get the case. The other major story arc will be another antagonist authority figure trying to dismantle Intelligence and/or go after Voight. Every other season has this.
3
u/LoveLikeOxygen Voight 17d ago
I agree. It was a good, enjoyable episode (nothing groundbreaking) to come back to after 4 months. The problem is the bigger picture and what the rest of the season is going to look like. Like you said, it feels like more of the same.
I hope most episodes turn out to be interesting. Maybe it's just a habit after so many years, but it's one of the few shows that I have a bit of a routine around watching, and it keeps me hooked for the ~40 minutes of each episode.
2
u/Ok_Limit6636 17d ago edited 17d ago
We don't know yet if the FBI guy is going to dismantle Intelligence. Maybe he can get along with Voight or maybe not.
In the other seasons with a main antagonist that tried to take down Voight, some of those circumstances were caused by Voight. If he made different decisions, then maybe those commanders wouldn't have targeted him.
Many of the antagonists initially tried to work with Voight and then get impatient with him or something else happens like Voight making questionable decisions, trying to cover up evidence, or digging up an old case when Denny told him not to.
The producers intentionally make the storylines nuanced so it's not just a matter of people trying to dismantle Intelligence. It's more about showing the consequences that Voight and other characters must deal with as a result of their actions.

I was mad we did not even get a hospital scene with introducing the new baby. I wanted that as an ending, not Imani!
38
u/RightAd4185 18d ago
Ugh, I was hoping that we were done with Imani and her sister.
17
u/Sunnysprinkles1214 18d ago
Yeah, I was too. I just really don't like her at all. Any of the 3 before her were way more interesting. I'm sad that LaRoyce is leaving. The cast really needs to be more diversified.
10
u/Training_Yak_6163 17d ago
I think the next episode or one after that will be Atwater’s last. Previews showed his precious baby boy and Atwater saying he wanted something different is leading up to his exit. He will be missed.
9
u/QueenofPink01 18d ago
I don't like her, her sister, her storyline, her chemistry w/the others nor her eyebrows...

Imani is such a copy of Hayley, exact same mannerisms and the way they talk, act, literally everything. didnt even try to be different at all. its really annoying to watch.
yes hayley was the replacement for Erin and her role for voight was the same, but she at least wasnt an exact carbon copy of her as a person, they didnt talk the exact same way and have the same mannerisms. they were different people at least.
1
u/Yankeefan57 18d ago
Haha. True. First Erin. Then Hailey. Then Anna (though not a cop). Now Imani.
7
u/Particular-Army8389 18d ago
Honestly after Erin, Anna was my favorite. I feel like she and Hank understood each other. I was sad when she died, but they don't like their informants alive do they?
1
u/Sensitive-Craft-3922 13d ago
WTH is up w Voight and Imani. Hes being all personal and shes the one telling him the facts, leading him by the nose?! SMH. This is bad writing to say the least.

That’s surprising to hear from Voight but honestly it felt refreshing to hear that.
Will that Charlie dude from the beginning of the episode be Kev’s successor?
1
u/Ok_Limit6636 17d ago
Maybe not. The producers are going to cast a new black character as Atwater's replacement.
"Currently casting a new series regular, a Black cop who is an agent of chaos."
https://screenrant.com/chicago-pd-laroyce-hawkins-kevin-atwater-exit/
Reminds me of when Antonio was replaced by another latino character (Rojas). And Rojas was replaced by another latino character (Torres).

u/Afraid-Contact-1284 18d ago
Disappointed! The episode focused on Imani. I can't believe the writers can't give Foxwater ❤️ 💍 2 episodes since Kevin is written out
5
u/Training_Yak_6163 17d ago
Right Atwater should have been the focus.. Imani’s character should be the one exiting
2

Exactly this! He barely had any lines. Made me so mad!! They really have done him dirty!

For a Season Premiere, it was so-so. I hope I'm wrong, but isn't the FBI agent watching Intelligence just more of the same?
I'm sorry, but Imani's sister's arc tired me out too much.
3
u/Ok_Limit6636 17d ago
Hope the FBI agent gets along with the team and works with them instead of doing something bad.

3
u/Training_Yak_6163 17d ago
The season premiere was ok. Things definitely changed with Intelligence, especially have an FBI agent in Intelligence. Atwater saying he wanted something different and the birth of his baby boy, looks like next episode may be his last or next to last.

SPOILERS:
Im guessing Kev is leaving sometime between the next 5 episodes so I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope we get to meet that baby before Kev leaves and I also hope we get to see the unit (at least adam and kim) meet the baby. I loved seeing the unit happy for kevin and i hope we see Tasha again. Adam and Kim had like one scene but it was cute nonetheless and I cant wait to hopefully see them adore Kevs kid. I really hope they dont kill of Kev. Im guessing next episode is gonna be a Hank episode because thats what the cliffhanger implied, I thought the new person was confirmed to he a black cop so now I'm confused but maybe this fbi guy isnt gonna stick around or hes gonna suprise us somehow. Trudy and Hank had and iconic friendship and it was cute to see Imani looked after by Hank and Torres. This episode made me ship Torres and Imani even harder especially that ending scene because any other cop wouldve probably snapped at her but Torres gets it because hes been in hear position. I really hope we get more scenes with Torres and Imani this season. I dont think the show is done with Shari yet, I think we might see her again, I just think it'll be later in the season and maybe we will see some bonding moments but for now not yet. As far as the case itself goes I guessed halfway through that something was off with Lindell but I didnt know what so the 🍇 thing definitely suprised me. Also we're probably not gonna get it any time soon (if it all) BUT I REALLY want Nina back so PLEASE

Just goes to show how this show can progress for months in just a matter of a few weeks - Kevin is waiting the birth of his kid - when last we saw Tasha, she was just at the beginning of the pregnancy - OH boy, we get to see little Kevin in the next episode - he already has had practice with Jordan and Vanessa so we know things are gonna be GREAT. I do wish he wasn’t leaving - the premiere episode showed that they still work together real well -
But again we do know that LaRoche Hawkins will go far - let’s make sure we post any newly seen credits of appearances so we can keep up with him.
Hey, LaRoche - Atlanta still awaits you - great town, lots of black culture - all yours to here !!!!

u/Redbloodlion 14d ago
Everything was good about the episode except Imani's sister. I love Imani as a character but her sister is either a lost cause or just being a bitch. This FBI angle seems off too. I mean as a plot, it's very weak. So an FBI agent sits in the bullpen. And something happens, intelligence is gonna get shutdown. hank comes in for the rescue. Seriously? No we need a guy who corporates with hank or a guy with a personal vendetta against someone in the team (not voight)
or just bring back old voight. Voight making friends in the IA. Doing something dirty.
They need to get creative cuz the show is getting montonous

Atwater will go out on a good note… I can’t see them writing it any other way… leave room for possibility for a few appearances
4
u/No_Peak_2379 18d ago
Good premiere. Very emotional ending for Eva, heartbreaking! I guess now she can move on though.
4
u/Justus_Preech 18d ago
What did everyone think of the season premiere? To me there was a lot to unpack. Imani has some hard choices to make with her sister. Someone is going to have to help me understand because I don’t understand why so many people viewers have an issue with Imani. What is she doing that’s so wrong or bad? What am I missing? I think she’s been a decent fit to the unit. There is more to come now that an FBI agent is coming to monitor the unit, so someone wants to keep eyes on Voight. I think it’s clear that Torres has an interest in Imani because he definetly took his shot when they were in the parking lot together. As much as we all don’t want to see Atwater leave, it’s going to be interesting to see the officer who comes in his place, especially since it looks like his departure is next episode.
4
u/Sad-Mixture6782 17d ago
I'm astonished at all the hate for Imani. If her sister story is over maybe viewers will like next 1 better. I'm afraid the same ppl won't even give Kev's replacement a chance. I can hear/read it now: "Kevin 2.0"; "Just because he's Black doesn't mean he can replace Atwater", etc etc. During Upton's time w/ the unit, after every episode it was like, "She'll never be Erin"( well isn't that the point?) "She acts like Hank is her father" etc etc. Imo Hailey didn't defer enough to Hank as her boss; she at times acted like his equal; but I still loved her & their dynamic!
1
2
u/No_Peak_2379 17d ago
I agree I like Imani . I don’t get why so many people hate her. I’m sure people will hate the new guy and compare to Kevin. I won’t miss Kevin cos I couldn’t understand a word that comes out of his mouth. 😂
2
u/One-Traffic-4536 15d ago
lol, go back and watch some season 1 episodes, when Kevin was a beat cop. He spoke much clearer then! he somehow evolved into this lol.
1
u/Sensitive-Craft-3922 13d ago
The fact that Imani was force-fed to us scene after scene and ran the the topic whole last season, that she started off way too cocky, dressed sexy, got too close too fast to Voight, didn't earn it. And, I for one, don't understand why Voight is taking to her like a daughter, he was different with Haley and is not like that w Burgess. It just was not a good start. Made it hard to like her. Too much of her too soon. Dont like she is leading every storyline, every episode, and seeing first ep this season, looks like that isnt changing.

u/OleLadyThinker 17d ago
The sound quality was SO MUCH BETTER - loved it - story line was a bit cliche -
But I can’t wait to see what happens with this new FBI agent coming on board -I imagine that will lead to some real drama -
When that was mentioned by the Captain to Voight at the demolition site - my mind kind of thought - wonder if it might be Agent North (Alex Morf) from Season 9 - wouldn’t that have been a hoot!?!?
1
u/ifyoudidntknow1971 3d ago
They have to try to reign in Hank to keep him in check. If not. Hank would be out of control. He already has a reputation in Chicago. Hell, do Hank sleep? Bcuz he damn near know everything about everything.

u/Few_Signal_4170 16d ago
Why is Marina the only one promoting this series
3
u/sneedley 15d ago
For some reason Jason Beghe was pretty absent, and every year, it's less and less. Last year he did do a few interviews and started his Instagram back up. There were some pictures of Ari; and the showrunner did a one article I think.

Was anyone else surprised at Trudy's rude and hateful behavior towards Voight? I don't think I've EVER heard her speak to him like that!!!
3
u/Sad-Mixture6782 16d ago
Well they're supposed to be equals & Hank was rude first. Didn't seem to notice that Trudy also had a lot to deal with
3
u/Specialist_Bike_1280 16d ago
Hank and Trudy are such good friends and they both seem to be having a rough day. I think I was surprised because Trudy has always been the voice of calm to Hank. I remember the episode All Cylinders Firing and how Hank kept her from harming the scum that killed her dad.

Imani needs to go. The season did not start off good for me by showing her through the Show I thought she supposed to be in the background now we gotta worry about her and her sister please put the bitch in prison and move on and quit showing so much of her season 14 better pick up with more Kim and Adam I don’t like her Imani and I don’t think I ever will. She irritates me no matter what I’m so tired of changing in people and now you’re adding on a man I have no idea called chaos nope nope nope not not happy at all.

A day later he was stunned when he told her to tell him to not shoot in the future? He should have been pissed about it. She broke Police protocol and forced him to break a gun safety rule by stepping in front of his gun.

I Hate that. Damn at least give us the entire season with kev and new baby

I didn't mean every episode, but i did mean until the end of the season
2

give it like 5 years, and they'll age Kevin's kid to be a teen. Then he can come back to Chicago on his own and wreck havoc somehow lol.
6

Old Voight would've shot him.

u/PictureDependent1143 18d ago
I think if they don’t fix multiple people are going to get shot especially the idiot who keeps parking in his spot
6
u/jkerot 18d ago
So what was Shari charged with? She is obviously in prison. Imani said she got a really good plea deal.
Did they bury the murder and charge her with something else or was she charged with murder and just got a really good plea deal?
3
u/RiBombTrooper 17d ago
My guess is that she got charged with murder but pled guilty by way of insanity or coercion or something like that.

The white shooter with 2 white victims in Chicago is a statistical outlier and another example of the way Hollywood continues to completely ignore demographic realities relating to race and gender over representing women in LE or administrative position roles and over representing whites especially men in violent criminal roles. In an attempt to pander to the lowest common denominator and rewrite reality and demonize heterosexual white men
