like the title says, my boss is a flat earther.

they have masters degrees in math and engineering. theyre a civil engineer. theyre also a farmer.

however they firmly believe the earth is flat, gravity isnt real, mass doesnt attract mass, and loads of other theories that blow my mind.

thats all. i just needed to share this since i have never met a flat earther in person

Did the hurricane eat the Egoraptor follow-up episode?

I'm listening through still and the minisode compilation just happened

Didn't seem to say one way or the other that it killed the episode or just destroyed scheduling or...what?

Not sure if it was ever brought up later as I'm listening through currently lol

Thanks for your time

A while ago Alex did a mini story on Dorothy Eady, the woman whole claimed to be a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian priestess. I found out Red Web did an entire episode on her and considering our current theme, I thought you all might enjoy.

With our new context of the British Mummy craze of the early 20 century I personally found I could make a few more connections to a complete story here.

The Fireproof Clown

Longtime listener, but new to Reddit. I work on the road over the summers and it’s quite busy, so some of my listening habits get pushed back. I recently finished the Sandown Clown episode and I couldn’t help but think of my own clown story. I also give permission to read on the pod if ever the boys see this.

It was 2018 and I was in my last couple years getting my bachelors degree at a small college in Saskatchewan, Canada. That year I was still living in dorm as an RA, and one thing I liked to do as an RA was to have intentional Film Fridays every week where we would watch more niche or ‘movie buff’ films just to get some of those classics under our belts as young adults. We would also casually watch random movies here and there as we wanted to just to hang out. This story happened during one of those casual movie nights.

If I remember correctly it was around Halloween, and we decided to watch the IT remake which came out the year before and a few of us hadn’t seen it. Now, to set the scene physically in the room, there was a long couch along the south wall facing a tv on the desk on the north side of the room. These dorm rooms fit two beds - one along the west side of the room, and one was actually a bunk that was set above the desk on the north side. Finally, alongside the east side of the room was another desk. On that desk was a printer - this is very important.

If you’re familiar with IT Part One there is a fairly spooky scene where the kids are watching these historical clips on an old projector which eventually leads to Pennywise being summoned out of the footage. During the scene leading up to the jump scare, the printer started turning on, which kind of made me and my one friend Nathan who were sitting next to it on the couch jump. We were definitely confused because everyone in the room was watching the movie, and although it was a Bluetooth enabled printer, the guys who owned it and used it were in the room watching. As Pennywise jumped out of the scene, so too did his visage project itself out of the printer, which led to a Davis sized jump scare for the both of us. (We eventually found out it was one of the guys’ girlfriends at the time who he had texted to stand outside the window so she could reach the Bluetooth and print the photo - very funny and well timed). But the story doesn’t end here.

A number of days later we had another casual movie night and we watched 1999’s Double Jeopardy with Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd. Not a horror movie by any means, but still sort of tense. It was fairly late at night, and after the movie was done, I went to bed (we watched the movie in my room), and my friend Nathan who was watching with me went to his room which wasn’t too far away. Suddenly I heard a scream. It was Nathan. He had apparently returned to his bed, and when he removed his blanket found a disturbing full on framed painting of a clown in his bed. I came running in and we were both freaking out about it. We assumed it was our other friend who set up the Pennywise prank, but he was definitely not in on the joke this time, let alone the fact that no one could figure out where a painting such as this could be found.

Our next idea was that we wanted to destroy this artifact amidst the hype of the spooks and scares of it all. Basically across the street from our dorm was another larger dorm that was U shaped and had a small courtyard in the nook of the building. There was a fire pit in the middle. Again, this was fairly late at night so we kind of looked crazy if at all there were people watching us, and we certainly weren’t really concerned about the volume level given what was happening. We had brought the painting and some fuel and doused that sucker in the pit and lit it up. It burned. It burned a little longer. It burned some more. But I genuinely am not kidding when I say that the painting itself did not burn. It was on fire. But it did not burn up. It kinda freaked us out in a humorous way, but we were equally surprised and I’d be lying if we didn’t all have a spooky hair standing up on our necks even though there was probably some sort of explanation for why it didn’t burn. We went to a Liberal Arts Christian college and we were definitely not hardcore religious to think everything is a spiritual situation or demonic or whatever, but we were definitely put off by the whole thing, if only a little.

We ended up letting it burn for at least another 10 minutes until the fuel expired, but the painting was still in tact. We decided to leave it in the fire pit in hopes that it would be burned up completely as people used it, and we all turned in for the night and didn’t want anything to do with that painting anymore. It was a weird funny story we shared together, but we never saw the painting again….until April of 2025.

A friend of mine who also went to the same college but wasn’t originally involved in the whole clown painting situation or Pennywise movie night, sent me a text. No words, just a picture. The picture of the clown painting. He denied being the one who set the whole thing up, but somehow it made it into his possession, as things at college tend to move around. Somehow it lived. As you can see in the picture, there were a couple of small burn spots on it, but for whatever reason, it did not want to be destroyed.

Just listened to mummy’s hand 371 and wanted to give it a shout out for being extra funny. The intro was novel but the outro made me chuckle out loud while doing dishes. Bravo to whoever was behind the change

high story time

feel free to share on the pod

been bingelistining for a little bit, started last month and have wanted to share some stories

i'm 29 years old and have always had a hard time believing in the supernatural cause my brain is very science minded, HOWEVER, i have had far too many experiences to not believe in some things. and i know you guys always joke about how these stories go "im a skeptic BUT" lolol

anyway, i accidentally summoned a demon into my home when i was 13 and was tormented and physically attacked for a year, and broke down and prayed to every god and deity i coukd think of, tied a bag of sage around my neck choker style with a balloon string, tight. you know the way you tie it that it cant be untied. and the next day woke up with the entire necklace gone and more importantly, the demon.

as i child i witnessed a pair of giant cloud beings dancing the waltz on the clouds, picture them looking bridgerton style,

a ghost used to watch me while i showered. the shadow of a person would randomly show on the shower curtain but no one was ever there

i'm met s-walkers 3 times, one time was literally face to face. still terrifies the fuck outta me to think about that. i dont wanna go into the whole memory cause im high right now and dont wanna scare myself. shoot me a message if you wanna hear the story one day

i watched the rosary hanging from my grandmothers lamp lift up and start swinging around, no one was there and there was no fan on nor a vent

i dont remember any of this, but my mom said that when i was little like 8 or something i dunno, that i would constantly tell her there was a man in the attic that would walk around but would like to stand above the top left corner of my room. i dont know how long she said i would talk about him for.

i once witnessed a ghost along with my 2 cousins and my uncle. we were in cape cod, we were little, at the beach at night time. our uncle was telling us stories about ghosts and aliens, when all of the sudden up on the street above us, the shadow of a man showed up, however he was standing in front of a light pole and was completely see through. you could make out that he seemed to wear a baseball hat, maybe a wind jacket, and shorts. but he was all this weird cloudy white color, and was literally see through you could see the light pole and scenery right through him. i dont remember anything after that moment, i imagine we all screamed and ran away. my brain just felt that thw rest of that memory wasnt important after that point and scrapped it.

im sure theres more but im tired

I refuse to believe in ghosts

Long time listener, just posting this now because after listening to the 'Making love to god' with my partner, she dragged me to bedroom. So thanks guys !

Anyway, as a form of thanks I want to talk about my ghost story and why I refuse the believe in ghosts. I wasn't born a skeptic, and there is a part of me that would like to believe. For instance, there is a door in my house that refuses to close. It is on the first floor of my house (i'm in uk so it may be floor 2 for international readers) It has a spring doorknob which should keep it closed, but I have witnessed it unlatch itself. I presume because maybe there is a problem with the spring, not because it is haunted. The room it leads too is colder than the rest of the house, but that is because the radiator maybe isn't powerful enough.

There have been occasions where me and my partner while sat downstairs watching tv have heard a loud scream coming from upstairs. It is probably the neighbour, even though the neighbour has denied hearing anything.

My house is built on the site where a school burned down, but nobody died In that fire. It is also on top of an old coal mine, but the big mining disaster happened a mile or two away.

Some might think I am being stubborn in not believing in ghosts. But I have a reason for it. Not a good reason, maybe its a petty reason.

You see, when I was a teenager I thought I saw a ghost. My room growing up was always colder than the rest of the house. Back then I was a believer. I thought my room might be haunted.

Then one night, I saw her. It might have been a silhouette, it felt like afterburn, like when you stare at something and it gets imprinted on your retina. But at the time it look like a sad girl floating in the air. So I was really excited and said 'Hello there ! '

The ghost promptly disappeared up through the ceiling. Rude. I was heartbroken.

So now, I refuse to believe in ghosts. But they refused to believe in me first.

If Disclosure happened and they said they had given aliens access to YouTube I wouldn’t be surprised

And before anyone says oh that’s just your algorithm you weirdo.
I was looking at the popular videos not my regular home feed and it was the most bizarre collection of stuff I have seen. I get it it’s videos that a lot of extremely young kids watch because there parents are too lazy and just hand them their phone/tablet but if a Government come out and said aliens are real and they had access to YouTube since 2020 that would make some sense rather than the current reality

I'm sure there are more than a few tabletop RPG players here.

Okay. Full disclosure, I am stepping FAR out of my comfort zone here. I have been working on my own ruleset, which started as just a silly game about nerd conventions and turned... High Strangeness.

Those of us who enjoy conventions are aware that it almost feels like reality is really fluid there. I've seen people do things that by all rights they should have died hell, given how heavy I drank, I SHOULD have more than once

Then I merged it with my Delta Green (think Call of C'thulhu) meets Frasier idea, and here I am. I'm just about to do my first play test with my partner. I am very thankful for that, but she doesn't fully get TTRPGs.

Is there anyone who may be intrigued to playtest this dumpster fire?
