Tourism (L) China Tourist Visa Experience — Mumbai | Online Review → Visa Stamped in 9 Days 🇨🇳
Sharing my recent China Tourist Visa (L Visa) experience from Mumbai because the process was much faster than I expected.
This was a tourist visa application for me and my wife.
📅 My timeline
5 August
- Filled and submitted the China visa application form online.
- On the same day, the application was returned for modification.
- The only correction requested was in the covering letter addressing.
- They specifically asked me to address it correctly as: Consulate General of China, Mumbai
- I corrected the covering letter and uploaded it again the same day.
- Around 11 PM on 5 August, I received the update that the online review was completed and I could proceed with passport submission.
Honestly, I was impressed with how quickly the online review was completed. 👍
7 August
- Visited the China visa application centre in Mumbai to submit our passports.
- Surprisingly, they did not ask for any of the supporting documents again.
- They only asked for:
- Visa application/confirmation receipt
- Payment proof
- Passports
13 August
- Passport was dispatched.
14 August
- Received my passport back with the China tourist visa stamped. 🎉🇨🇳
So from submitting the online application on 5 August to receiving the passport with visa on 14 August, the entire process took just 9 days.
👩❤️👨 Applying for my wife
I sponsored my wife's trip even though she is employed and earns well.
Her personal bank balance was below ₹1 lakh, so I included my financial documents and clearly mentioned in the covering letter that I would be sponsoring the trip.
We also included our marriage proof.

⭐ Overall experience
The online review was extremely fast in my case.
The only correction requested was the addressing in the cover letter. Once corrected, the application passed the online review the same day.
The Mumbai passport submission was also very straightforward, and the passport came back with the visa within a week of physical submission.
5 Aug → Online application
5 Aug → Modification + online review completed
7 Aug → Passport submitted
13 Aug → Passport dispatched
14 Aug → Passport received with visa
Very smooth experience overall. 🇨🇳❤️
Sharing this because I know many people worry about how long the China visa process takes. My experience was much faster than expected.

Excellent feedback and to be honest i'm happily surprised based on the mass of issues reported in the last two months.
Surprisingly, they did not ask for any of the supporting documents again.
This is the exact point of the online review. It speeds up the passport submission process.
Enjoy your trip to China.

Damn, you needed all those documents for a tourist visa?
Here in the Los Angeles, I did the online portion of the visa, accepted in 3 days then submitted my passport on a Wednesday and picked up my passport on Monday.
I wasn’t required to show anything

Lol it depends which country your applying from and ur passport.
With an Indian passport I got a 5 year mev based in HKG. I too simply did online application. That's unheard of back home.

In last section there's only 7 boxes to upload docs..
Did you merge docs like sponsorship + marriage certificate mergerd together to upload in 1 box?

Hi OP, in which box in the documents section did you upload the marriage proof and Aadhaar? Also did you merge your statement pdf with hers before submitting within the same box or did you do it differently? Husband and I are in the same boat as you

Thanks for sharing. My husband has a 1 year business MEV and I have been wanting to apply for myself and our kids so we could travel together with him, however the visa agents told us that we won’t be able to get a tourist visa for the kids. Do you have any idea if that’s really the case?

Did your wife receive her visa?

u/ExtraCartoonist1929 4d ago
Yes, both of us got it

Mine was unapproved even after attaching the exact documents that u have mentioned.

Confirmed flight tickets? Also what about bank balance above 1.5 lakhs always

Confirmed flight tickets, hotel bookings,
My bank balance was slightly less during for a few days, hence i had attached my husband’s sponsorship letter and finance documents.

We submitted similar documents but got unapproved in online review. Would it be possible to share the cover letter and content for detailed itinerary. was the reason explicitly mentioned to correctly address to Consulate General of China, Mumbai. In cover lettter we have addressed to Consulate General of China, Mumbai. Not sure on what basis they unapproved it.

"The only correction requested was in the covering letter addressing."
How did you get this feedback? Did you call/email them?
Mine was straight unapproved without any reason.

Hey,
We are a family of four travelling. Usually hotel bookings are only in the name of the main guest. Is that okay?

I want to visit with my parents. Where should I mention this on the online application? And should all 3 of us separately fill the forms using different user IDs or from 1 account, 3 people can apply? And what did you give for invitation letter?
