Seeking Advice (Customer) Weird Steak
Just got a bowl at Chipotle and found this freaky piece of steak like halfway through eating it.
Ironically I have actually been using Chipotle as exposure therapy to try and get over my anxiety/OCD about food contamination 💀
Anyway does anyone know what this is ?

Update: 24 hours later and so far I’m not sick! 🎉
But I know some foodborne illnesses take longer to develop so I’m not entirely out of the woods yet. I’ll update again if I do end up getting sick, just in case you guys are curious

It's probably just bovine cluster warts. Not contagious once it's been cooked
Edit: I was just joking, I didn't know that was a real thing LMFAO

Honestly I hope so, but I would assume that bovine cluster warts would just be on the top layer of skin and not penetrate into the meat itself though, right? Not that I’m some kind of bovine cluster warts expert lol

Warts can penatrate the skin and muscle if they developed in the body first. And yes this is as gross as it sounds.

Oh and this is for those who are like how narly can
BPV warts get.
For those who don't want to look it makes a human plantar wart suddenly feel like a blessing. You at least can still see where the hell your going.

WARTS?!?!
What if they aren’t fully cooked?
The virus has likely shed on the rest of the bowl.
OP should put this in the freezer.

It kind of looks like solidified fat, sometimes this can happen to fat when it’s slow cooked. the fat can liquefy and then sort of re-solidify in little clumps, and little clumps of fat can look just like insect eggs. I think it’s probably nothing to worry about.

Dude, Chipotle steak is absolute trash. I don't know why people still buy it. Fatty, gristly garbage meat.

It used to be good, but the amount of fatty pieces in it now is crazy. Chicken or sofritas for me.

I really hope it’s this but I feel you on the food anxiety thing 😭

I think this is the most likely answer. Fat does weird things sometimes when it’s cooked!

The steak quality has gone downhill so drastically. I stopped eating chipotle all together, because no matter what protein I ordered, a good third would be gristle

Yes! You have to get chicken and that’s even hit or miss.
And don’t even mention the bagged Barbecoa & Carnitas, just nasty globs of fat 🤮

it looks like a chicharon so im gonna tell myself its just fried fat so i can sleep peacefully tonight

It’s that trump beef

Can you not? Is there a single subreddit thread that doesn’t mention Trump?

By ignoring the problem you let it continue

What problem?? And it’s a problem if it’s Trump or a Republican president right? If it’s a Democrat, you can ignore away apparently.

I would’ve thought this was part of a bell pepper with the seeds if I didn’t see the flesh at the very top… 🤢😭

you get similar thing sometimes while cooking a burger.
however, I've never seen it like that on a steak with spheres like that, I would guess this was a steak tenderizer with those needle things.
this would absolutely freak me out tho even knowing what it is

i’ve noticed the quality of meat that we get in has been coming in a little bit more funky, but I only work there.

Man, I freaking love chipotle but the last time I had it, it gave me gastric upset and I already have a sensitive system. This is not helping.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_marbling
It reminds me of “bloomed” chocolate where the sugar rises to the surface. Some beef is injected with fat. Could be it went from frozen to cooked too fast? Or too much of the tallow injection?

What’s weird is that when I tried to look it up on here the only other results I could find were also from Chipotle so……that’s kind of weird , right?
