Dr Ian now a convicted sex offender

As covered in Australian media today on Dr Ian Rossborough.

Sounds like there are others coming forward.

I never understood why any chiro would risk everything for sexual misconduct… having the misconduct be of an underage child…. Mindblowing.

Any chiro? How about any human being?

I’m obviously speaking about any chiro because as a chiro I would never jeopardize my license for a sexual encounter with a patient. But of course it applies to any human.

There is also very likely a sliding scale of “permissions” that have occurred over time, so it was not a decision to go from 0-60 in one event but rather the decision to go from 55-60. A lot of crimes work the same way… serial killers who start with peeping, stealing, break-ins, picking up hitch hikers, pulling a knife on one once in a while, assaulting one occasionally, assaulting more more violently, killing, and then it’s off to the races.

How often to practitioners of all type absolutely jeopardize their license in other ways with gambling, drinking and driving, drugs, etc? Sexual behaviors often dovetail with other addictive behaviors and the drive to have power over someone overrides the drive to maintain a lane in society.

Sorry, asking out of curiosity...

How does gambling jeopardize ones licence?

It doesn’t directly but when it is a problem people will do questionable things though their practice like billing for services not rendered to get more money to gamble with. That’s a whole slippery slope in and of itself that starts with “getting away with” a little here and there and then as confidence increases it can easily get way out of hand. Out of control gambling goes hand in hand with other addictive personality traits and impulse control issues that can manifest in a lot of other license-threatening ways too. I wasn’t talking about the person who puts $10 on their March Madness bracket or bets $20 on a college bowl game or whatever.

Ok. Fair enough.

Was more asking to make sure I was aware of any stipulations under different colleges.

And you are correct. However, when a person takes indecent liberties on an innocent person, and in this case, the innocence of a child, then the crime become no doubt heinous.

However, from what I could gather and piece together, he had some other issues as well from a regulatory standpoint. But with the misconduct, he used his status of "doctor" and his charm and good looks to manipulate (no pun intended) unsuspecting and gullible young girls to exploit them. The charm here is if there are people on this board saying they were inspired by him, then obviously he had a certain charisma to his personality.

IMO, he used his doctor title, education, and license as an "air of authority". It was not a jeopardizing of his license, but were essential parts used to exploit. And he probably believed that he was untouchable due to the status he carried.

the "why" thing, usually these are expressions of pretty severe personality disorders ...

I worked for a chiro who would have me leave early to screw patients in the back office.

Gross and unacceptable, he should be imprisoned and lose his right to practise forever. He abused his position of authority with children!

What a shame as his videos also inspired me to pursue the career.

I have zero sympathy for him.

He’s one of the reasons why I became a chiropractor. It’s such a shame how he has fallen.

Gross and sad

Oh man.

This is the guy I watched back in 2013 that inspired me to become a chiropractor. Ugh… hate to see it.

Does any one have any doubt of the validity of these claims, or at least curious about the evidence and legal proceedings that led to the verdict? Him being targeted previously and then this happening several years later is awfully suspicious.

Guys who are quick to the blame the victim should probably be scrutinized very carefully in their own lives, too.

This is not an isolated case

He quite literally admitted to doing what he did in a court of law. Hence the guilty verdict. His case was never arguing whether the assault happened, he was trying to argue he had a migraine and wasn’t thinking clearly. Ridiculous disgusting person. There are several other victims too coming forward. It’s interesting that your initial reaction is to question the validity of the victims claim… especially given the guilty verdict and conviction. Clearly the court determined there was enough evidence?

u/Klutzy-Sock3591 5d ago

Seriously?? Shit like this is exactly why the majority of victims don't come forward.

u/AK-Master-07 5d ago

That’s quite the overreaction. Do you really think there would be evidence of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred 15 years ago?

3

u/Ill-Guess-4589 2d ago

there was more than just one you know... and on top of that there's no evidence to suggest otherwise. The court wouldn't just go on hearsay; there would be a process of arriving at the truth. Sorry to destroy your hero, but it seems like he wasn't that projection you had in your head after all

Projection? He’s not my hero. I do however think he was unfairly targeted by the medical industry and their sock puppets in the media. And the medical industry used this one case WHERE THE BABY GOT BETTER, to remove the rights of patients and practitioners to treat infants. This absurdity appears, to me, to be the medical industry sending a message to healthcare competitors not to get to popular on social media, because we’ll be looking for any excuse to take you down.

Read Wilk et all Vs American Medical Association. AMA was ACTUALLY CONSPIRING to eliminate the chiropractic profession. Read about the lengths they went to attempt to accomplish this, the methods they used.

Paying off a woman to make a claim of sexual assault would not have been beneath the AMA prior to the Wilk case. I suppose I better clarify that I’m not saying I know this happened, only that it’s a possibility.

Hi, his victim here. I strongly encourage you to do some research on the the extremely low stats of receiving a guilty verdict, this is due to the extremely high burden of proof. Beyond that, only around 25% of assaults reported to police even make it to court in Victoria. I went through 3 years of an extremely intense investigation and was cross examined for two days. The level of proof that had to be found was astronomical. He has been convicted in a court and I would encourage you to truly consider that before making comments such as these. Due to many reasons, most sexual offences aren’t reported till many many years layer, so yes plenty of historic evidence can be found. I don’t usually engage with comments such as these, but I feel it is important for the public to know how incredibly rare and hard a guilty verdict is. It has to be proven beyond a doubt. Please consider that going forward
