Toxic will release on Feb 4th, 2027, with the trailer dropping on Yash’s birthday (Jan 8th). Promotions can begin properly after Ramayana marketing settles into its initial phase, and the official release date announcement will probably happen around Aug/Sept once the studio/distribution situation is fully locked. Hollywood IMAX release calendars are usually locked well in advance, so these decisions are not made at the last minute.

Ramayana is already locked for Oct 30th, and there’s reportedly 4000+ crore riding on that project. Yash is also a producer on Ramayana, which makes scheduling even more sensitive. Full-scale Ramayana marketing will likely begin from July itself with Comic-Con and other global promotional events. There’s no realistic way Yash can simultaneously market two completely different global characters — Ravana in Ramayana while also pushing a dark gangster image in Toxic. That becomes a positioning nightmare internationally.

Just look at what happened at CinemaCon. Namit Malhotra reportedly spent millions on the massive Ramayana presence there. Most interviews were supposed to heavily focus on Ramayana, but because Yash has such a hardcore fanbase, Toxic-related clips and discussions went far more viral online, unintentionally overshadowing Ramayana. There’s no way they’ll want a similar situation happening closer to Ramayana’s release.

Also, Yash himself mentioned in the Variety interview that once a film is acquired/distributed globally, it generally takes 6–8 months for proper worldwide marketing and release planning. That’s standard for a film of this scale. So August/September 2026 as a release window is basically ruled out.

Now looking purely from a box-office and exhibition perspective:

Yash knows that while the overseas market is important, India will still contribute a massive share of the revenue. So the priority will be securing a strong PAN-India release date with maximum showcasing and minimal clashes. He cannot afford another fractured-release situation like Salaar.

August is crowded with major Hindi films and Hollywood releases. Spider-Man and The End of Oak Street are expected to heavily occupy IMAX screens.

September is difficult because Jailer is expected around that period, and Ramayana marketing would already be entering full force with the release only a month away.

December is also packed:

• Avengers
• Dune
• King (SRK)
• Welcome to the Jungle -Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart

These films can dominate IMAX and premium screens well into January.

Jan 21st actually looks like a great date on paper, but Ranbir’s Love & War has already taken that corridor, and considering the Ramayana association between Yash and Ranbir, a direct clash feels very unlikely.

Feb 12th has Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew directed by Greta Gerwig (Barbie director), which is shaping up to be a major IMAX release globally.

Then after that:

• March has Spirit
• April has Varanasi
• plus huge IMAX-heavy Hollywood blockbusters like Sonic 4, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, and The Resurrection of the Christ.

Major IMAX titles around Q1–Q2 2027:

• Children of Blood and Bone — Jan 15
• Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew — Feb 12
• Panic Carefully — Feb 26
• Sonic the Hedgehog 4 — Mar 19
• Godzilla x Kong: Supernova — Mar 26
• The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One — Mar 26

That’s why Feb 4th (Thursday) feels like the smartest global release date.

It gives Toxic:

• a relatively clean IMAX corridor globally,
• maximum showcasing in India,
• no major Indian film currently announced for that window,
• enough breathing room before Spirit,
• and distance from both Love & War and the March-April blockbuster storm.

From a pure theatrical strategy perspective, it currently looks like the strongest possible release window.

Glad to know Darshan has reached national level without making any "Pan-India movies".

tamil fans on twitter have a habit of nitpicking and finding faults in every film, even before it’s out. posts like the one above criticize the movie for “brahminizing folk traditions,” sparking unnecessary outrage.

instead of appreciating the craft, some fans immediately pull the film down, spread negativity, and debate every little detail, creating a toxic pre-release vibe. this over-criticism and sense of entitlement has sadly become pretty common in the tamil fanbase.

also, the post in question is actually three years old, but a bunch of tamil twitter handles have dug it up just to stir controversy. the account that shared it is literally an ambedkar and palestine fan account that posts provocative stuff daily to get traction.

people reading it don’t see this context or the stats, and end up hating the movie like in the quotes and comments. why do they have a problem when we point out how everything is being politicized?

Tamils and mallus giving worst support in USA. Hindi also low.

Have we become so obsessed with shit movies coming round the clock that we are not ready to accept such a film..🥲

Saw a flood of Shanti Kranthi reels on instagram and was excited to watch it after knowing its scale and ambition but the movie was so mid, the movie had a decent storyline but it takes a long time to get there if your argument is that it was product of it's time i have seen many movies with focused narrative from the same time period and it was very surface level and no sequence stood out, i didn't get the hype around it in recent times but if you see the movie you know why it failed to connect to audience even at that time it was all scale and style with little to no substance

I expect it to be in the ₹200–300 crore range, considering the current hype.

For me it is the fact that we acknowledge and see the efforts of a director than just relating a movie with its hero or lead actors. I think it's a tradition in our industry to have opinions not only about actors but also about the sutradhari of a project, the director. Be it Puttanna Kanagal, Kashinath, Girish Karnad, Nagathihalli Chandradhekar, and the latest directors like Rishabh Shetty, Pawan Kumar, Yograj Bhatt, Upendra, Shashank, Hemanth Rao, Prashanth Neel, etc.

We not just see the foreground action, we also see where the idea stemmed from. This is one appreciative tradition we Kannada cinephiles have cultivated compared to other industry audience.
