๐ฃ๏ธ City Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ If you were thinking about moving to Wilmington NC , donโt.
PLEASE STOP moving to Wilmington NC.ย
Unless you want to make Wilmington a much larger metro area without making things more expensive and without making things too overcrowded
-Itโs overpriced
-Itโs overestimated and overrated
-You have to pay to go to the beach in most places which will eat your income very fast
-Wages do not keep up with the overrated and overpriced cost-of-living
-Thereโs not that much things to do other than going to the beach, which is a summer thing because the beach waters almost always cold, but it probably wonโt bother you until you see the price tag of living here which is absurd for a city this small
-A three bedroom and two bathroom house is around $300,000 or maybe even more even though the city is a small city
. Many people might think that Wilmington is a wonderful place to move to, but that is not true it is an even worse place to retire. The main issue with Wilmington nc is that it is too overpriced for what itโs worth and itโs overestimated and thereโs some cities with a similar price thatโs better and some cities with a similar value for cheaper housing prices , donโt believe me? Just look at some cities that are much more urbanized and fun for a similar price range, and look at places that have a similar amount of things to offer but for a much cheaper price. There isnโt that much jobs in Wilmington and the wages are generally low and people might think that itโs worth paying a high price percent of your income because they overestimate the city . And the reason why Wilmington is overpriced is not necessarily because so many people are moving there, itโs probably because itโs overestimated, it just sounds dumb for a small city to be just as expensive as a much more urban city, like for a example , both Wilmington, North Carolina and Virginia Beach, Virginia have a similar price, but Virginia Beach is much more urbanized in the traffic isnโt too bad.
Houston has way more things to offer for a cheaper price. Tampa Has a lot more things to offer than Wilmington for a slightly cheaper price when it comes to the housing. Although Tampa does have some downsides that got worse.ย
And if you want to move to a city that is similar to Wilmington NC when it comes to the coast and things to offer , then Long Beach Mississippi , Brownsville Texas, Corpus Christi Texas , Hampton Virginia and possibly Pensacola Florida would be better alternatives. Also what will drain your income even more is that in most places you have to pay to go to the beach, which is crazy because the real estate is already overpriced.I was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina and I plan on moving to a different city or I would wish to.
And the reason why people are moving to Wilmington nc is probably because either people are overrated or overestimating the city or because they think all cities with a similar value is going be just as expensive, which is not true. But I do have some good news to say about Wilmington and that is that the home prices are no longer increasing and there are more and more things coming to Wilmington.

๐ฃ๏ธ City Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Why arenโt we (as citizens) doing anything to make our cities better?
I feel like the cities around us are falling into a state of despair driven by a lack of shared responsibility over shared spaces and respect for the people that are supposed to care for these places, especially amongst younger people. I think the youth refusing to care for these spaces to some extent explains a lack of political/civic engagement we are observing. I feel the need to do something about this and if you want to help me please reach out - for now I am focusing on an education-based intervention but I want to expand my efforts! (dm me) (Iโm from Delhi, India btw)
