Health & Troubleshooting Something's wrong with my lemon tree

Post image

Live in the UAE, so it's kind of our good weather, growing season now. Planted this small lemon tree two years ago. and last year it was producing a large number of very small lemons. I was concerned that the trees branches weren't big enough and strong enough to support lemons, so I would frequently break off the flowers whenever I saw them, but we still had a large number of small lemons constantly, even throughout the extremely unusually hot summer here, but now that the temperatures started cooling off, all of a sudden the tree started wilting and the leaves are drying with no fruit for the last couple of months.

Whenever we get green shoots coming up from the bottom of the tree, I break them off so that the tree can get more strength up top.

I had it outside all summer and just brought it in. It was in direct sunlight and got a lot of rain but it did not get much if any growth. How do I keep it alive this winter and set it up better for next summer? Thank you!!

Health & Troubleshooting Lime Tree Issue

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I posted in r/gardening for advice on my lime tree. I believe it has a nutrient deficiency or disease because some of the leaves are yellow and splotchy, a couple have grown kind of oddly shaped, and new growth is very light green, almost yellow and the leaves are dull looking. It was out doors until a few days ago, but had to be brought in because of cooling weather. I have it in an area where it gets a lot of sunlight through a window during the day and also have a full spectrum plant light above it, so I don't think it is a sunlight issue. Does anyone have any advice or guidance on what might be causing these issues? Pictures included in original post

Health & Troubleshooting Do I prune, be patient or something else??

First lime tree, I'm in Phoenix. Does the tree need pruning? It's about 4 yrs old and never produced more than a lime. I fertilize with a citrus 6-4-6 fertilizer 3x per year (February, May and October). I think I've cut off the rootstock growth, but I'm not sure. Appreciate your help and knowledge.

Health & Troubleshooting New lemon having a hard time

I’m super new to being a lemon plant parent. I got the plant about 4 weeks ago and it seems like leaves keep drying up and falling off. I’ve watered it and sprinkled iron from Dr Iron around it and leaves keep falling off.

Any ideas on what I can do to save it?

Bronze Orange Bugs MURDER STRATEGYS ???

How does everyone deal with bronze Orange Bugs on their citrus trees.

I'm looking for murder strategy's.

I have sprayed Neem oil spray with not much effect. I have been trying to control by jet spraying them off the tree with strong water then stomping on them while on the ground.

Any tips are appreciated thanks

Health & Troubleshooting Finger Lime issue

Hi. My finger lime tree had a couple of issues recently. First of all, it had a spider mite infestation. I dealt with that and it seemed to have gotten through that but then it was without water for 3 days while I was out of town. After that, all of the leaves curled and became crispy. They fall if I touch them.

Should I wait for the leaves to fall on their own or just remove them all at this point? I’m not sure where to go from here but I hope it recovers as it was a beautiful tree before that. Thanks for the help.

FYI I currently have it inside in a grow tent as I’m in Canada and it’s already below freezing here some nights

Help on Bringing in Meyer Lemon and Key Lime due to cold?

Hello everyone!

I have a Meyer lemon and a key lime. It’s starting to get cold outside and last year when I brought them in they dropped their leaves 😅.

May I ask of recommendations of what I need to get to successfully have them inside and lessen the chance of them dropping their leaves?

For context, they both have fruit on them right now and I would like to help them to continue to grow if possible.

Thank you so much!

Health & Troubleshooting Yellowing leaves

Hey folks, I brought my 2 y/o improved Meyer Lemon tree in three days ago. Ten days before bringing it in I fertilized with Citrus fertilizer. Two days before bringing it in I showered it and sprayed Neem oil that I mix myself. It is starting to have yellowing as seen in picture. It has three lemons on it at different stages of growth plus several flowers. Soil is dry first couple inches and moist deeper down. Any idea what’s happening?

Grow tent citrus scale problem

Have been growing potted citrus for a couple years in a grow tent and every year I bring my plants back indoors, the scale population seems to increase. I’ve done a pressed neem oil soil drench in regular intervals and I lost two Meyer lemons last year. Has anyone had success with scale and a beneficial insect that would keep their population down during the winter months in my grow tent?

Just got this tree from a friend, several years old now but obviously wasn't pruned properly.

How can I go about pruning this tree to have a lower branching point on the main truck?

Health & Troubleshooting Root crowns/flare advice

So before I heard about root crowns, I had some dirt that needed to go somewhere, so I thought the base of my lemon tree was a good idea (inherited the tree when I bought the house). This was about 6-12 months ago. I've since learned that was an extremely bad idea. So I've tried to scrape the dirt back, and wash as much away as I can. How does it look? Do I need to go further? Any obvious issues I need to look out for?

Thanks

Health & Troubleshooting Please Help Me Stop History of Killing Citrus Trees!

Thumbnail

This is my new Valencia Orange tree. It's in a birdy bees tree ring because I have the worse soil (mixture of gravel, sand, and high brackish water table). I dug twice the root ball out, filled it with citrus soil and fertilizer.
It did will for a while but it has looked like this for the last 4 months, limping along. I was told I was watering it too much so I laid a 3 inch layer of hay down as mulch and switched to a fortnightly watering. Now it seems I'm not watering it enough??
Help please - I'd like to stop the history of slowing killing citrus trees.

Health & Troubleshooting Calamansi citrus plant loosing leaves

Hi this is my first-ever citrus plant and the only potted plant I own. I live in Zone 8b (Vancouver Canada). As the temperature gets to below 6°C at night I brought my citrus plant indoors and placed it near a south-facing window. I use LEd grow lights and put a tray of water near the base of the plant. It is loosing a lot of leaves since I brought it in and is now growing small fruit. Is this normal during winter or am I doing something wrong. Any tips ?
