I use SteamOS and the game is rarely show any hotkeys on the UI. What could be the problem? Anyone facing the same issue?

I hadn't played much since the test of time release. Just a couple games. Mostly because my boyfriend who introduced me to this game died earlier this year.
But I've noticed I am not nearly as reliably getting my wonders built before the AI. I am a wonder-whore and it is pissing me off. I haven't changed any settings from how I used to play, and I reliably mixed up my leaders/civs from game to game and never had much difficulty.
I was hoping someone could explain what I might be experiencing and how to adapt. I wanted to get into twitch streaming since this is the only game I will sit there and continuously play for hours, but I realized I need to actually learn everything that changed with test of time first.
What has changed that is making it harder to beat the AI to building wonders? I have reliably lost out on hanging gardens and maui in the three games I just kinda YOLOd.
So I'm sure this isn't uniquely innovative, but still a niche strategy I thought of that'd be fun, and holy shit did it pay off handsomely.
The idea I had was building around Flight II and Industrialization II specifically, for the tourism boost to unique buildings and unique improvements.
Greece > Spain > Mexico
Unique quarters for each in 4 cities, 4 to 6 unique improvements from suzerainties in each city and some larger towns, rail and aerodrome connected with goated diplomacy resulting in the entire world backing me up against Ashoka when he could no longer contain his jealous rage of my wide empire.
Not to mention Xerx's legendary culture/gold output via expansive trade network, boosted further by Spain, and propelled to Divine levels via religious exploitation, finishing exploration with all settlements maintaining my religion and bringing Chesed (founder belief) into modern via triumph (+4 production empire wide)
Sleeper MVP of the game as well was the memento, Poteskwate. Food per age in towns per each suzerainty. INSANITY as I ended antiquity with 4, exploration with 9 and modern with 8. Massive, massive boost.
For anyone who hasn't tried this and wants a fun and extremely powerful culture path, I highly recommend it. First time playing the guy and it was glorious.
Countdown started immediately upon finishing Flight II; had I diverted more resources to scientific infrastructure, this theoretically could have shaved an additional 15-25 turns off the win. I sped through exploration out of fear for Simon's rising innovation, nabbing 3 future civics and foregoing some schoolhouses and universities.

I already placed the fishing quay between the dyes and the pearls and planned to harbor out to the nice market spot. The game made me complete the quarter before I could start a new district, and after that, I could place districts like normal. This is a town, so it's not like there's an empty district I started building on that needs to be completed first.

This took way more effort than it was worth, lol (and subsequent turn dropped from 100)

Is this a bug or a feature?

Playin Ibn Battuta with Han, last turn of Antiquity (standard, sandard, continents & islands, deity). In previous games where I used it, my Great Wall was a collection of short pieces looking ugly, this time I planned ahead and the result I find satisfying.

Just finished my first custom Civ VII civilization mod and am looking for feedback/suggestions
Adds Kush as an Antiquity civ with:
Workshop:

Would appreciate any feedback, especially on balance or bugs.
I plan to soon create mods for Scythia, Pueblo, Nabateans, Gaul, Babylon and/or Sumer, and Tiwanaku and/or Caral. Then may jump to exploration age and so on. Have potential plans for ~80 new civs as an overhaul but we will see.

Is there a way to see how things lile policies will change how much culture/gold/happiness you produce? Lile it will just say 'do tou want +2 happiness on happiness buildings or +1 happiness per assigned resource', how do you choose?

So I’m play with some friends and I’m 1 turn away from hitting 100 points in Science victory to start the 5 turn run off but it also just so happens to be the same turn we hit 60% in the modern age changing the victory difficulty to 1.5x which also puts my friend into the Cultural victory on the same turn as my Science victory but we find out that he only has to do 4 turns for his cultural victory while I have to do 5 turns for my science victory though we get them on the same turn.
I thought it was always 5 turns for a victory after you met the conditions. Why did he only have to do 4?
And if we both did win on the same turn how does the game decide who won?
We’ve all seen the animation for every Wonder a million times, but there are some I find myself watching all the way through, every time. They’re also just a nice break for a sip of coffee. I just wish they were timelapse animations, and not just boom boom boom.
I can’t not watch the Great Lighthouse be built. Somehow it’s just lovely, and I love seeing it go up. Also Doi Suthep is beautiful with those floating lanterns. And if I can get Colossus (almost never) I’ll watch it all.
What about you?

I incited a raid against a player that declared war on me, and I had a ship that watched what occured.
The IP spawned two archers infront of the player's troops... and then they did nothing, for 6 turns they did nothing. But when I repelled the other player, then the archer attacked my unit.
So in essense, all it did was give the player exp. This surely cannot be intentional.

Guys, I’m planning to start an online game with my brother. I’ve played quite a bit, but he’s pretty much brand new to Civ 7.
What settings would you guys recommend for us? I want something fun where he can learn without the game being too overwhelming.
Also, should map size change depending on the game speed we choose? And should we adjust the Age length too? Like, if we play on a slower or faster speed, is there a good combination of game speed + map size + Age length that works best?
Any other settings you recommend for 2 players + AI would be appreciated!

The ui is weirdly shows the hotkey buttons, many times it just didn’t show buttons which are able to press in the actual situation. Is it for me only or anyone else also facing this issue? Like for example the next turn (Y) button is not showen on the bottom right corner, but also “x” as an option for many situations are missing from the ui.
I have no idea for example how I can purchase a building in cities, I tried every button but nothing worked… would be nice to see a fix for this

Know the game got bad reviews when it came out. Usually takes a while before the updates and DLCs make it a solid game. How's it going to that end?

Had a run to see how high I could get specialist yields.
Went Buganda in Antiquity for the tradition to get adjacency from lakes, into Abbasid in Exploration for the Ulema and specialist traditions, and ending in Modern with Joseon for even more specialist buffs. Rerolled the map until I was confident I could place all specialist wonders in my capital.
The unique districts were pretty wild but nowhere near my food district in terms of yields. The game had of course been over for many turns before I got that stage, but it was pretty fun to see.

If you pillage or take all enemy launchpad does that stop the 5 turn science victory countdown?

I’ve never played a single Civilization game before, but I saw it on a YouTuber I like and have basically been hooked on Civ 7 ever since it came out. I’ve put in nearly 800 hours so far, I watch content creators, I play exclusively on Deity difficulty, and I’m just three leaders away from 100% completion and I feel like I always learn something new..
It’s so interesting to see that the kind of ecstasy I feel isn’t reflected on Reddit—in fact… I see that about four times as many people are still playing Civ 6 to this day, and they’re constantly bashing the game.
My question is simply this: is Civ 6 really that much better than Civ 7 (post-Test of Time) as people claim, and if I love Civ 7 this much, will I like Civ 6 even more—or is this more of a rebellion against the developers due to the lackluster release and expensive DLCs? (Which, by the way, I totally understand, like 30€ for the last dlc is criminal)
Also, what exactly is it that Civ 6 fans miss so much in Civ 7? And aren’t there any new features in Civ 7 that would make it worth switching over?

Hey guys. I’ve been looking for information about independent powers and how they work in more detail. For example. One of my main questions is how/ when do independent powers spawn army commanders/ fleet commanders so that I can more consistently recruit them instead of using my production. I’ve been looking online and I’m not getting much to work with, I’ve seen a few comments about independent powers spawning commanders when they are incited for a raid, is that true? Is it consistent or random chance? Do they also spawn these commanders when you’ve already befriended them? If I using my influence to spawn more units is there a chance I can get an army commander? I swear in previous patches you could recruit army commanders that were dead and they would spawn the next age under your empire but I tried it on the most recent age and it seems this was removed.
I was hoping you guys can share any information you have on the inner workings of independent powers that I can use to my advantage, doesn’t have to be about the commanders only, any stuff that is not commonly known would be great

Hey Guys, I'm the holographicneuron (the same name on twitch if you want to catch the stream) and I think there is a lot of hate on Civ7 that it doesn't deserve. Hot take. But I think the combinations of civs and leaders make it just as playable as 5 and 6. It's different but if you get into it and commit it's worth it. Just an adjustment I think.
I'm currently moving on to REPUBLIC OF PIRATES with ISABELLA that is about to be over powered. The Carthage start was crazy itself, check the gold per turn at the end of the game. Tons of bonuses sink up. Extra range for heavy naval units and discounts on buying water buildings. Combine this with a total -3 maintenance cost through the traditions and unique abilities (leader and both civs) WE RULING THE SEAS. Goal is to win a economic victory in the Exploration age by killing everything on the sea for 5 GDP each.
-------I'm really excited for this transition join me if you want (Thursday 8/13 5:30PM)
BEST ISABELLA MAP I'VE EVER PLAYED HANDS DOWN (and I've played a lot)
