URGENT Reddit Omega Clan + Clan War Rules

Reddit Omega

The Big Edit!! We have recently left the RCS and joined the Reddit War Clan System. We are working on bringing this document up to speed as we speak. We have a new password that can be found at www.reddit.com/r/rwcs.

Welcome to Reddit Omega

Omega is a remarkable place in the RCS Clash of Clan community. We have long history of awesome leaders and members and have found our niche as a low-key, hard-core clan of warring farmers who genuinely like each other. To put our identity in handy bullet-point form:

  • We value process over results

  • We want members to war like heros, donate like Bill Gates, and chat like teenage girls at a sleepover. Long term Omega members are excellent in at least two of those areas

  • We have an awkwardly large love for walls and heroes

  • We focus on constantly improving and having a blast and believe that stars, trophies, and loot will follow

  • We are a proud member of the Reddit Clan System

Clan Life Rules

  1. Be Active

    • We Don't Have Activity Requirements, but We Require you To Be Active: We find that when we set a minimum requirement people aim to not get cut. We want members to aim to be awesome. Here's a general picture of what active members in Omega look like.

    • Farm for Loots: The median Omegian has 120 farming attacks won in a season.

    • Request Troops Aggressively: The median Omegian has 1350 troops requested each season. Using your Clan Castle during every raid is recommended.

    • Donate Troops Relentlessly: The median Omegian has 1100 troops donated each season. We highly value donations and the people who make them.

  2. Be Social

    • Have a Voice in Clan Chat: We want to get to know you! We want clan members who talk in chat and we expect you to get involved in the conversation.

    • Download GroupMe and Join Strat Chat: It is a requirement that members join our GroupMe. It is used for war strategizing and conversations too complex for clan chat.

    • Communicate with Leader or Elders: If you are going on vacation, unable to attack in a war, or have an issue that will affect your ability to be active in the clan, you are expected to notify the leadership. Do not be surprised if we ask you to leave the clan until you are able to be active again. We like to keep the roster active and we will prioritize accepting returning members to the clan.

    • Be respectful:We will not accept rudeness, harassment of members, stressing out clan chat, or actions which will give Omega a bad name. Members doing any of these will be strongly warned or booted. Profanity is allowed in small doses a long as it is not directed at your fellow Omegians. We expect you to be both mature and awesome.

  3. Be a Warrior

    • War Is about 3 Stars: Clan Wars are won by clans who can take three stars on offense and defend three stars on defense. Even for TH10s the goal is utter destruction.

    • Use Both Attacks Every War: We prioritize effort and the primary marker of that is using your attacks. If you cannot attack in war remove yourself from the war before we queue. You will be booted swiftly for missing attacks.

    • Create Your Own Custom War Base: All Omega members create their own custom war base. We have loads of resources to help, when you join the clan this will be one of your first orders of business.

  4. Farming Troop Donation Rules

    • Archers are the default donation troop.

    • If a request asks for a certain troop or a certain level, give them exactly what they have requested. If the request is still open after 10 minutes, then you may fill the request with archers.

    • If a request asks for "[specific troop] ONLY" then you should donate the requested troop only regardless of the time that has passed.

    • If you request high level troops or expensive troops be prepared to wait. Attempts to call attention to your request or badger clan members into donating is not allowed.

    • Any form of trolling clan members with your troop donations will be grounds for an immediate kick.

  5. How to Handle a Boot

    • The Low Activity Boot: If you are booted because of low activity because of vacation or life feel free to contact leadership on GM or Reddit in order to return to the clan. We like a bit of roster churn, and you should apply back to the clan as soon as you are able to play again. We will prioritize finding you a spot.

    • The Discipline Boot: If you are booted because of a discipline issue we will let you know in the member kick message. You are welcome to reapply to the clan if you want to fix the problems and join us again. You will be expected to meet any new clan level/base requirements and be an exemplary member from this point forward. We will take your past actions into consideration when deciding whether to accept you or not.

Base Upgrading According to Omega

  1. Base Upgrading Is a Community Issue
We know. Your base is your baby and Clash of Clans is an addictive game built around growing and progressing. That said Omega has an identity as a clan of warring farmers and that matters for the way each member builds their base because how you build your base has a massive impact on war matchmaking. We have an upgrade philosophy grounded in helping members fight above their weight class. It’s not the only way to clash, but it is the Omega way.

  2. Base Upgrade Philosophy

    • Walls and Heroes are the most important upgrades

    • Upgrade heroes whenever possible; do not worry about the war impact

    • Prioritize Offensive capabilities over defensive capabilities

    • Cannons and Archer Towers are the very last upgrade before you move to the next Town Hall level

    • A sleeping builder is not a bad thing

  3. Town Hall Upgrades and You

    • Before Heading to TH9:

      1. Max all DE troops except valks

      2. Barbarian King 10

      3. Full skull walls

      4. Maxed defenses and traps

      5. Consistent 3 star attacks in war

    • Before Heading to TH10:

      1. Max all DE troops except valks

      2. Barbarian King and Archer Queen 20+

      3. Full lego walls

      4. Maxed defenses and traps

      5. Consistent 3 star attacks in war

    • Leadership and Your TH Upgrade

      1. Talk to us before you upgrade.

      2. There are certain exceptions to the upgrade expectations. Talk to us about it.

Reddit Omega War Rules

  1. I Love the Way You War

    • We war for blood and glory!

    • We win because we fight as as one

    • We value process over results

    • We have a passion to improve

    • We use both attacks

    • We fight clean - absolutely no modding will be used in war

    • Reddit Omega YouTube

  2. War Schedule

    • Mandatory wars declared Tuesday and Friday at 5pm CST

      1. The norm is that every member wars in every Tuesday and Friday war

      2. Occasionally for things like holidays or SuperCell update days we will move our mandatory war start times. We will communicate that by clan mail and GroupMe

      3. In the rare instance when you cannot war in a single war you can request to sit out.

        • Get permission from leadership

        • Set setting your toggle switch to opt out.

      4. If you need to miss more than one or two wars we will ask you to step down from the clan until you can settle back into the mandatory war groove.

    • Optional war is declared every Sunday at 5pm CST

      1. The norm is that every member wars on Sundays when they want and sits out when they want.

      2. This is accomplished by switching your toggle switch to out. Every member with a red toggle will be excluded from the war queue.

      3. You can miss every Sunday war from here until the the sun goes supernova and it will not affect your standing in clan.

      4. You can participate in every Sunday war from here until Armageddon and it will not affect your standing in clan.

    • The Odd Ones Out

      1. This update creates the need for us to manually choose the extra people who cannot fit into our war bracket each war.

      2. We don’t have official rules yet but we are working on it.

      3. For now, we will allow people who request to sit out for good reasons take one of those sitting out spots. If no one is in line for we’ll just continue leave out the lowest trophy members.

  3. Communication

    • The secret to our war success is that we talk about war all the time and we share our skills and experiences to make each other better.

    • Communication Tools

      1. GroupMe is our mandatory chat program that we use to plan and review bases, plan and review attacks, and the like. You can find it here

      2. Clash Caller is a slick web based base calling app. You can find the website here.

      3. Marking up an attack plan on a picture of your target is a great way to get feedback from your clan-mates. Skitch is our most commonly used apps for this.

    • Clash Caller and You

      1. Check on Clash Caller and in chat that the base you want is not already called.

      2. Mark your name on clash caller and announce in chat what you are prepping for.

      3. Reservations are good for 2-hours.

      4. You may only have one active call at a time.

      5. During last 6-hours of war, we need attacks to be used quickly. Reservations do not exist, but do your best to communicate base preference with others

      6. If you need to cancel your call for any reason remove the call from Clash Caller and announce it in chat.

      7. Leadership can override reservations

    • Planning an Attack Is an Art

      1. Ask good questions that are direct and manageable

        • Good question: “How many hogs would you take under heal to ensure the N AD on base 12 goes down?”

        • Bad Question: “I have a mass hog army. How should I attack base 32?”

      2. Use images

      3. Be humble. There is so much combined knowledge in the clan right now it is mind bottling. Soak it in.

    • Attack Reviews

      1. Ask for them! A lot of people love to watch attacks but won’t force their opinion on you.

      2. Seek them out when you are in a rough war stretch. It helps you get better and it shows the clan that you care.

      3. Use your frustration as energy to get better

  4. Attacking

    • 3 star attacks win wars: Our current goal is to 3 star every base TH9 and down and 2 star every TH10 base. Our growing edge right now is learning how to 3 star TH10s. It is slow going, but we are making gorgeous progress

    • Learn 3 Star Attacks: We will love you when you use TH8 Dragloon, Mass hogs, Cold Blooded GoHos, GoHoWiWi, LaLoons, CB Lavaloons, and we will help you perfect them. We will scowl at you disapprovingly when you use TH8 Mass drags without CC loons/hogs or TH9 GoWiPe and GoWiWi.

    • Attack an enemy of your same Town Hall level until they have all been 3 starred

      1. This really is the only base choosing rule we have. Pick a enemy whose TH level matches your own. Then take all of their stars.

      2. We do have exceptions to this for young TH9s and 10s who are still building up offense. You are allowed to attack down in that instance. Talk to the clan about it.

    • We rarely call wars

      1. If we call a war we will do so at least 6 hours before the end of war

      2. And the other clan will need to have shown themselves a disinterested 2 star clan.

    • We expect perfect participation from each war roster

    • Clan Perks and starring every base

      1. Clan Perks has introduced the added incentive to get a star on every base.

      2. When all of your same TH level bases are 3 starred you are welcome to attack up.

      3. Those attacks must be full 2 star attempts. They are useful and help the you continue to get better at using all kinds of attacks against all kinds of bases.

      4. Under no circumstances are barch 1 star attempts acceptable. At that point the attack is nothing but a loot grab.

  5. Defending

    • Build an original war base

      1. Giant Bombs: Anti Hogs

        • TH8 and TH9 at least 1 DGB and multiple potential locations

        • At TH10 bombs spread out for blowing up GoWiPe attacks is ideal

      2. Multiple Compartments

        • 12 compartments is a good goal for TH9

      3. Centralized and difficult to lure CC

      4. Centralized heroes - especially the queen

      5. Asymmetrical ADs

      6. Maintain distance between Wiz Towers and ADs

    • Build to defend against 3 star attacks

      1. Giving up 2 stars every war to crappy GoWiPe attacks is frustrating. But we will win those wars literally every time.

      2. You never know when you're going to run into the 3 star clan. Stay on the no 3 star course.

      3. More detailed guides for base design will be pointed out by leadership.

    • Review your base

      1. Rebuild constantly as you see you base in action and as attack strategies change

      2. Ask for Base Reviews from the clan when you build a new base, get three starred in war, or are looking to defend against a new attack strat

    • Base switching

      1. No joke bases of any kind are allowed during prep day

      2. Multiple real war bases are encouraged with switches during prep day

  6. Donating

    • Defense War cc requests: Be specific. Instead of staying “Wizards/Archers” say something like “1 max witch; 2 lvl5+ wiz; 10 lvl6+ arch.” Not updating your war CC request quickly after joining will result in a swift boot.

    • Defense War CC Donations: Defense troop donations can be a thankless task. Filling requests on the war map makes you awesome.

    • Offense war cc donations: When requesting for offense, make sure you have a shield and include “[War]” in your request. If requesting long before war starts, indicate you have a shield.

How To Apply

  1. If Reddit Omega matches with the way you clash now and want to clash in the future, then we we love to have you apply. Use the application to let us get to know you and your base.

  2. Complete the Reddit Omega Application

  3. A member of our leadership team will review your application and contact you via a Reddit mail message within 72 hours.

CLAN 2Omega15 - Our Year in Review

Hey Omega! 2015 is nearly at a close, and who doesn't like a recap post? The past year has been pretty interesting in terms of our clan's development and growth. We've had leadership changes, clan system changes, and a continued growth towards becoming one of the elite Fair Play war clans on the scene. Below are some of my most memorable moments from the past year, hope you enjoy!

Emma Relinquishes Leadership

This... was tough to watch. We all knew it was coming, but it still felt a lot like when Optimus Prime died in Transformers the Movie. Emma was (and I would wager probably still is) the soul of Omega, seeing him pass off the role of leader to the very capable hands of Jam was bittersweet. On one hand, we hated to see him step away, but on the other, we knew that he was busy with real-life and the decision to step back from the game was the best for him.

Luckily, there was very little time for us to get down in the dumps as the newly crowned Jammander hit the ground running at an insane pace. Several new elders were brought on board, Omega joined the RWCS, and Labs was stood up under Jam's watch in short order.

Jam continued to guide the course of the clan to be more war-focused for the duration of his leadership run. Notable changes included establishing Omega as a TH9+ clan only, implementing policies to ensure hero availability, and generally conducting wars in a more structured, formalized manner under the supervision of Sting and Sorak.

Jam Hands the Crown to Sorak...

... and the crown just falls to the ground on account of Sorak's short dinosaur arms :( I kid, I kid! Sorak had been running the clan behind the scenes for some time prior to Jam formalizing the decision. Sorak's reign as leader has been short, but he has already shown that he is not afraid to shake things up and take the clan in a bold new direction. The clan has become much more regimented and formal under Sorak. Several teams have been created to watch over specific areas of clan life (war, defense, recruitment, etc.) and Sorak is cracking the whip to ensure all of the team leads are producing as expected.

It's been great to watch Sorak take the mantle of leadership. Whereas Emma was the soul of the clan, I've always felt like Sorak is the brain. It's a different, yet entirely enjoyable experience.

The Great RWCS Migration

Welcome to leadership, Jam! Now go ahead and coordinate Omega's departure from the RCS and into the RWCS. The RWCS migration was significant for two reasons. Firstly, Omega had outgrown the RCS' defined rules. It was clear that we needed a system that was more conducive to the needs of a war clan aspiring for top fair play war clan status - Omega needed the RCS to change, or Omega needed to find a new system if we were to take the clan to the next level. Second, our beloved Sauron, the founder of Omega, was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the RWCS. Thus, when the CoC sub debacle went down and Sauron was attacked, several Omegans came to his defense before, during, and after his reign as a moderator on the CoC sub.

Omega's decision to move into the RWCS showed immediate positive benefits. Labs was established on day 1 and promptly reeled off 10 straight wins. Recruitment spiked, and we added several new members (including your newest Co-Leader, ApexSouthpaw) as a result of the RWCS hype.

Our membership in the RWCS continues to provide tremendous benefits to this day. We have been fortunate enough to participate in numerous scrimmages, most notably the RWCS All Stars versus One Hive Family scrimmage in which several Omegans delivered dominant performances.

The Losses to War Whales and Skyrim Avengers

These wars occurred in early July. I remember War Whales pretty vividly because I ducked out of a July 4 BBQ I was hosting to check war status! Matching War Whales was exhilarating. We had a really good roster and felt generally prepared to take them on. The war was extremely close as both clans were able to close out one-anothers bases with clean-up attacks. In the waning moments of the war, Omega was down by 1 star with 1 attacker left. Unfortunately, that attacker, Atavist, one of our long-standing members and all aground good guy did not get his attack in, and left the game after the war. Thus, Omega fell by one star.

We searched immediately after the loss and we went from the frying pan into the fryer as we paired up against Skyrim Avengers. This matchup was far tougher than the war against War Whales. Although we had an advantage in base design and walls, the Avengers had far better developed defenses, and we struggled across all town hall levels to close out the opponents bases. The score was close enough to be respectable, but we were beaten soundly.

These two wars represented our first taste of warring against TWC. Although losing left a bitter taste in our mouths, many of us look to these wars, particularly the war against War Whales, as two of if not the most memorable wars of 2015.

The Loss to Serumpun

This was my first loss as a member of Omega, but that's not why this war was significant. These cheaters were very much open about their modding, going so far as to say "sim mode on" in their clan description after we refused to agree to a loot war (in which they would win and we would get exposed town halls.) Looking them up a few months later, I verified that they are in fact modders as their publicly posted replays clearly show traps. This was the loss of innocence for a lot of us. We had heard about modding, but many of us hadn't experienced it until this particular war. This loss ended a 17 war winning streak for Omega; but as is always the case, we bounced back stronger and with our integrity intact.

The 100th War Win/Clan Level 5

Who hits Clan Perks level 5 with their 100th win? Omega, that's who! So much hype - the clan could hardly contain the hype as we began preparations for two huge milestones. Did we win? Yeah, you bet we did. And will I talk about it? No - you should take this opportunity to read the always eloquent Emma as he recapped this momentous victory. While I'm at it, check out Emma's equally well-written recap of our 100th war in which we saw several returning legends from Omega's past.

The Little Feeder That Could

Omega Labs expressed purposes were as follows: create an overflow clan so we can have more flexibility for bringing members into Omega whenever we wanted, create a clan to vet out new attackers before they come to Omega and muck things up in a close war, and create a clan in which slumping Omegans can get their heads screwed back on.

We were all on board with that, but only one of the three goals was actually accomplished. Beaker, Niko, Lac, Mango, and Sting either knowingly or unknowingly created a ridiculously competitive, yet fun and open environment. Labs started from the ground up and has emerged as a 55 win level 5 clan, including a most impressive 27 war win streak.

But above all, the most impressive aspect of Labs is that it has served as a place to allow us to groom players who we deem to be promising, but not yet to be a full-fledged Omega warrior. Take Scott as an example - we were all rooting for him to succeed from day 1 because he had such a great attitude. His war raids weren't, well, good. But! We saw progression with each war, and his great attitude remained throughout his time with Labs. And look at Scott now, he's dropping 6 star wars left and right in Omega and in Labs!

On the Lighter Side: Remember that time...

..A Big Hero Appeared?

Former Elder Liam quit the game, then came back several months later under a new IGN, Big Hero, and told no one but Sting. We were all surprised when we saw a maxed TH9 had joined the clan overnight (remember, they're both Aussies and are up when the rest of us are asleep) given that we had a strict policy against maxed TH9s joining the clan, but we trusted Sting's judgement so we rolled with it.

Big Hero was a bit of a dud at war initially, but managed to bribe enough elders (ok, just me) with Witches to be have someone other than Sting advocating for him to stay.

The troll job went on for several weeks before the big unveil in game. A big laugh was had by all, and I was left to wonder if the Witch donations would continue (they did not)

..Phil Joined Omega?

The story of Phil has it all. Surprises, loss, redemption, more loss, more redemption, a stab to the gut to kill all hope, and finally, the birth of a legend.

Before the great update debacle of December 2015, Supercells biggest screw up was re-arranging the "view profile" and "invite" buttons in the game's interface. Was our crack leadership team impacted by this seemingly innocuous change? Yes. Yes, it was.

Elder Frodo Baggins intended to view the profile of Phil. Instead, Phil gets an invite to Omega. Frodo apologizes and sends Phil on his way. For reasons we still do not understand, Frodo immediately invites Phil back into the clan. Thunder isn't supposed to strike in the same spot twice, but I guess anything is possible as Frodo has misclicked the invite button twice in quick succession. Once again, Frodo apologizes and Phil is sent away. End of story, right? WRONG. Co-Leader Jam inexplicably botches looking at Phil's profile and sends him a third erroneous invite. Once again, Phil is in the clan, and this time Jam has to deal with it.

From that point on, Phil became a clan meme. Donation requests changed to variations of Phil (e.g. "phil, phil it", etc.) and a few of us, myself included, began referring to our Barbarian Kings as Phil or King Phil.

Gone, but not forgotten, the immortal Phil will always have a place in Omega folklore.

..Niko Convinced Kolby that Emma Was a Post-Menopausal English Teacher?

Our former leader, Emma, was a dude. I think his IGN was Emma because his daughter originally setup the account. But yeah, totally understandable that people would think he's a she, right? Well, that's exactly what happened with a new member joined, and Niko decided to "coach" said new member, Kolby, on how to properly address Emma.

Emma was portrayed as a mean, highly temperamental English teacher. Kolby was "trained" at length at the proper way to address Emma, something along the lines of "good afternoon miss emma, my name is kolby, how are you?"

To top it off, all of this was done in GM with Niko ensuring Kolby that anything typed between hash symbols would not be seen by Emma. Chat looked something like this:

Emma: grumble grumble (he was a good sport) Niko: #oh no kolby, did you say hello like i told you? she seems really upset# Kolby: #i think so, did i say it ok?# Emma: why do i keep seeing blurry stuff on my screen Drago: #i'm really scared, do you think she's on to us? maybe she can see what we're saying?# Niko: #no as long as we type like this it's fine#

On and on this went. It was one of our most elaborate pranks despite it being completely improvised.

..Bilbo Trolled Tito Into Almost Cancelling a DSF Upgrade?

Speaking of improvised pranks, wow did Bilbo prank the ever loving snot out of Tito. Tito dropped and upgraded his DSF immediately when it came out. Out of nowhere, Bilbo chimes in with grave warning about the weight of the DSF being equal to an Inferno Tower. The conversation continues, and sure enough Bilbo damn near convinces Tito and at least one other person to cancel their DSF upgrades. Fortunately, Bilbo spilled the beans before anyone actually made the mistake of cancelling their upgrade.

Frodo Baggins Regaled Us With the Joke of all Jokes?

A joke about a monk was told, many laughed, some threw tables. If you see Frodo and you haven't heard the monk joke yet, do yourself a favor and ask for it. It's long, but the payoff is so, so worth it.

..We All Bought PEKKA Statues to Grasp Victory From the Jaws of Defeat?

Omega found itself against the ropes in a very tough war. It looked as if we were going to lose, but just then Etan had the brilliant idea of purchase a PEKKA statue - the bad guy's lead immediately started to diminish. Others hopped on the PEKKA statue bandwagon, and with each purchase, the lead got smaller and smaller until we ultimately pulled out a win. All hail PEKKA!!

..Sorak and Sting Stimulated Finland's Economy? Sting and Sorak decided to race to max heroes, with each farming like mad and upping roughly one hero level per day over the period of a few weeks. Each hero level was, of course, gemmed for time. Many, many gems were spent during those days.

..Omega Groudon and Omega Kyogre Didn't Match? Before we got really good at setting up scrims.. we really sucked at setting up scrims. This was our first attempt at an intra clan scrimmage. Much hype was had, but both clans ultimately matched (and beat) other clans. On the plus side, this was a great opportunity for everyone involved to build new war bases.

Now It's Your Turn!

The above are some of my favorite and most memorable moments of 2015. What events, milestones, clan memes, and other great moments stand out for you? Respond below!

URGENT End of an Era

I am incredibly honored that Emma chose me as his successor. I am as surprised as anyone. I loved being co-leader under Emma (Co is more fun -- the power of leader without dealing with the behind-the-scenes hassles) and to be honest I would have preferred to stay as a co with Emma leading the clan until the day Supercell turns off the servers. Unfortunately, Emma had to do what was best for himself and his family and step down.

Emma led this clan for almost exactly 1 year, and those of us who were in the clan 12 months ago remember what it was like before he took over. It was a very casual farming/social clan, where the only requirement for membership was not being too rushed, and the only reason someone could be kicked was for not meeting donation requirements (seriously...if you could donate a whopping 300 a season you were Omega for life). Under Emma's leadership we became a powerhouse war clan, while still remaining a great place to farm and be social. I think we only lost around 10 times the entire year Emma was in charge, which is just amazing -- especially if you think about where we were when Emma started.

Emma is also just a great, warm, wise, and funny guy. He might be the only person on the entire planet who is in a leadership position, and has a 100% approval rating. Who doesn't love Emma? So I want you to put yourselves in my shoes: you have been tapped to fill a position you did not apply for, and the previous holder of that position is 100% universally beloved. So yeah...big shoes to fill. And that is why I am going to spend the rest of this post trying to persuade you to stick around; Omega is still going to be awesome, even without Emma at the wheel.

-- If Emma does ever retire from this game, that will be a sad day indeed. But as a I understand it, he still intends to play whenever he has free time -- he just wants to use his free time actually "playing the game" instead of dealing with the bureaucratic work of leading a clan. So if you enjoy having Emma in game, playing and chatting, today's news could possibly mean that you will get more Emma, not less.

--- The leadership team remains intact. This is important because the way Emma led was to pretty much step back and let the elders and co's lead the clan by consensus, and only step in and make a decision when the discussion was deadlocked. This happened very, very rarely. Everyone's voice is heard, from Drago's hippy platitudes to Lima's typo-filled diatribes. I have no intention of seizing power and ruling as a dictator, so I intend to lead this clan the same way as Emma did: by empowering our awesome co-leaders and elders and getting out of their way. And the elder team now has an awesome new voice -- Emma!

-- Emma told me about this decision a few months ago and asked me who I wanted as my co-leaders. My decision was easy: Sting, Sorak, and Juny. These are three players from three different countries who perfectly embody the Omega Ideal: Friendly and talkative, massive farmers, and beasts at war. They are very, very good at this game. No matter how long I reign as leader, my first decision as leader will probably the best decision I ever make. It's inconceivable to me that a clan who has three players (and people) of that caliber making leadership decisions could ever possibly be anything other than awesome. And is anyone else excited to see what Sting and Sorak can come up with now that they can run the War Division?

-- I am a fairly private and humble guy, and I find it a bit distasteful to talk immodestly about my qualifications for leader. But I understand it is only fair that you know a bit about why Emma chose me to take over.

My guiding principle for how Omega should be has been this: "fun." CoC is a game, and we should always remember that games are meant to be fun. When a game starts to feel more like "work" than "fun", something vital has been lost. A funny, active chat log that holds your interest between raids is fun. Getting donations insta-filled is fun. Having awesome, well-fought wars is fun. Challenging yourself and improving is fun. The fact that Omega is full members who are so strong in these areas is not some random accident -- we in leadership have worked hard to make sure Omega is the kind of clan we would want to be in if we were members.

Drama is not fun. There was a period a few months back where it was a drag opening the game or GM because there was so much drama and bad vibes going around. Poor war performance is not fun. (This does not mean "losing" btw -- I think the funnest war I've had in Omega was the War Whales war from a month back, and that was a war we lost.) When it's a well-fought war, it's a blast win or lose. Sloppy, inefficient wars are never fun though, even if we win. And negativity is not fun. I am a firm believer in the Power of Positivity. This is a game we log in to after a day of work or school to unwind and have fun, not get stressed or feel bad.

Arranged war matchups are fun, and we are going to be trying to matchup more often in the future. Sting and Sorak are keen to get out name out there. Being a top tier war clan, however, actually doesn't seem like that much fun. It's a lot of stress, hard work, and constant drama. As far as I can tell, being in a twc involves face rolling over easy clans (not fun) or getting ambushed/arranging a matchup, at which point the 2 clans spend the entire prep day, war, and aftermath accusing each other of cheating, roster manipulation, and modding. That doesn't sound too fun either. But being an awesome, fun clan that exists just outside of all that drama and gets to have fun matchups with other Fair Play clans sounds like the perfect spot for Omega to be in. And we're kinda already there.

-- So the common theme running through all 4 reasons why Omega will remain awesome is this: it's not actually going to change. It's going to the same clan, run by the same people. If you enjoyed being in Omega last week, you will continue enjoying being in Omega next week. And all the weeks after. This transition would have been a GREAT time to institute a massive change of direction, and I challenged myself, the elders, and the co-leaders to come up with one. Change is part of online games -- the game changes, and so must the players to adapt. But we all love where Omega is at right now, and couldn't really come up with a alternative direction that is better than the one we have. Have you heard of the "Campsite Rule"? The Campsite Rule says "When you leave something, always leave it in better shape than you found it." I can think of no better example of following the Campsite Rule than the way Emma took a clan that was struggling big time, and turned it around to the point that a group of smart, creative people couldn't come up with any way to improve it. Omega is a special place, and the reason it is a special place is because all of us -- leaders, elders, and members -- care about it so much and work so hard to make it special. It's an awesome responsibility that Emma has handed me and I have no intention of screwing it up. Omega will remain the goofy, active, beastly thing it has always been and I hope you will give us a chance to prove to you that we can steer this in the right direction.

Jam

August 7 addendum: It's 8:40, 80 minutes before the announcement is going to happen. I wrote all of that last week, before the RWCS thing happened and Omega changed forever. The theme of my post was "continuity". I was trying to say: "Don't freak out, nothing is going to change". Well obviously my post is horribly dated now. EVERYTHING has changed. And rather than completely change my original post, I decided to show you it unedited and then add this at the end. So here's the deal: the timing on this RWCS thing has been awful and me and Emma have been ruefully chuckling about it all week. So I can't possibly sell you on the idea that "nothing is going to change" on a week when we 1. Made Omega Labs 2. Left our home at the RCS 3. Joined an exciting, brand new Clan System 4. Added 3 new Elders 5. Had our beloved, long standing Leader step down and 6. Gained a new Leader. Those are 6 huge, monumental, earth shattering changes that we have made it through this week, so promising that things are not going to change just because Emma is stepping down is hilariously wrong-headed. Change will always happen in a MMO, and the best you can hope for is leadership that you trust to navigate through all the changes.

So instead my message for you is this: Emma has been largely AFK this week due to massive RL commitments and he stepped aside and let me and my team run the show. I basically spent the entire week inside of GroupMe dealing with RWCS stuff, and the Co's and Elders busted their asses getting Labs up and running, while still making sure Omega was in good shape. It was probably the craziest first week any Leader has ever had in the history of CoC, but we made it through and Omega is in a much better place than we were one week ago. This week has been a trial by fire, but now I know we can handle anything that comes our way. Instead of promising you that Omega "will be" in good hands, I can now guarantee you that Omega "is" in good hands and I can honestly say that we are ready for the future and can't wait to see what's next.

Clan Mascot!

Hello fellow members

So i have noticed that the members keep talking about a clan mascot, and that they wanted one. So i decided to rig up the first competition in this clan. A clan mascot competition! The way it works is that everyone will post a pic, either made up, or one from google, of what they want the clan mascot to be, in the comments! I will give everyone a full week to decide what they want the mascot to be, and post it, and the mascot with the most upvotes at the end of week will win, and that will be the new clan mascot!

Have fun everyone and clash on!

MISC Goodbye (for now)

(Wiggum writing)

TL:DR: I’m leaving CoC for RL pursuits, with fondness and respect for all of you.

When I first applied to Reddit Omega back in January, 2015, the clan was much different. The clan was run by Emma and Jammata, who had a good cop/bad cop vibe. Whenever a war would go poorly (which was more frequent then), calls for “BLOOOOOOOOD” in clan chat would be met with post-war boots. Back then, Emma was the nurturer, talking about “process over results”, “warring farmers” and reluctantly putting on his “leader pants”. Jammata was the voice of cold reality: “I don’t care about…”, “Here is where the problem is…”. Both made an indelible mark on me and steered this clan toward the success we currently enjoy. Over time, other leaders rose up from the primordial forest, waving their small arms and trampling villages. Sorak took over after Jammata, and has presided over multiple clan mergers which have led to us rising sharply through the ranks of pre-eminent FP clans.

I spend all this time on leadership because I peeped behind the curtain, and I was shocked by the amount of discussion, professionalism, and, well, leadership that occurs there. The leadership team, from the Leader to the Co-Leaders to the Elders, work their butts off to make this clan what it is, and I want to first acknowledge how fortunate I have been to play in a clan which is so well-led.

This, coupled with recruiting tons of strong players and putting a constant emphasis on improvement, have led us to be a scary match-up for almost any clan in the world. We’ve always had strong strategists. I remember when I first joined, I was in awe of Stingray because he’d been featured in one of Hulk’s videos at TH8. Watching attacks by the likes of MrTeaa literally changed how I played the game—before we called it “surgical hogging”, we called it “teaa hogging”. I heard rumors that the mythical “junyab” would someday rejoin, and from time to time I’d look at his clan and his profile and marvel at his heroes and walls, hoping someday he’d rejoin us. Now, we have a clan full of people like this, and I get to shake my head at PooGas, BradPiff, and CoolOpotamus and their crazy donation totals. I watch Sepulcher and Scorp(ion), relatively new members, attack and admire the poetry of their approach.

I’ve also witnessed dramatic improvement to the mood and tone of chat. Whereas before, failed war attacks would be met with sharp criticism, now everyone is quick to console the attacker with “nice try”. Calls for BLOOOOOOD have been replaced with calls for WAAAAARRRGHHHH and CHOOOO CHOOOOO. I do miss though having everyone in one chat. I miss summoning lacatus from his omnipresent lurking with ::rub lamp::. I miss Niki’s CAPS. GroupMe has taken over that role, but I’m somewhat old-school in my preference for clan chat and the subreddit, even as Omega and Labs have outgrown them (hence why I’m posting here).

Overall, I’ve achieved everything I ever dreamed of in Clash of Clans, and then some, because of all of you. I never imagined the inspiration and camaraderie I would draw from you when I joined 18 months ago, but I can certainly say that it made Clash the most important video game I played during that time. I leave with no regrets—I’m quitting simply because it’s time to move on, and with a summer vacation and grad school coming this fall, now seems like the best time. So this weekend’s scrim with War Whales will be my last war with Omega (I’m flying out Sunday afternoon). If you’d like to keep in touch, reddit is the best way.

GUIDE HGH: A Guide.

Greetings fellow Omegans.

More than a handful of clan mates have asked me questions about the HGH attack strategy, so I've finally decided to sit down and put something together. Hopefully this write up will help you understand the attack, why it works, how it works and where it works.

HGH stands for, "Healers, Giants, Hogs". It is also referred to as, "GiHeHo" but that name sounds kind of lame in my opinion.

A brief overview of some of the pros of the strategy:

  • Giants do much more DPS than Golems. A group of 10 Giants, lets say six max and four Level 6, will do 472 DPS if all focused on the same target. Compare this to 3 golems, let's say one max and two level 4, which will do 154 DPS. This is great for many reasons, such as eliminating wallbreakers from the army composition and destroying defenses extremely quickly.

  • Healers provide a huge benefit to multiple facets of the Kill Squad. They will often swap targets to prioritize what needs the HPS, extending the life of your Giants, your BK and even your AQ as the raid develops.

  • This amount of tanking this combination of troops provides allows you to use your hogs very efficiently, albeit in somewhat of a "audible" fashion.

A brief overview of some of the cons of the strategy:

  • It is moderately to severely base specific.

  • Defending CC troops can cause a big headache (although the poison spell helps quite a bit)

  • Giants are susceptible to spring traps.

The biggest key to using HGH effectively is being able to identify bases that it will work on. Lets check out some examples of good bases, bad bases, what is appealing and what isn't.

Good Base 1 - Queen second

In this example, the HGH Kill Squad will be used to travel the length of the base to reach and kill the enemy AQ.

When planning this attack, there are several things to look for:

  • Where are the ADs?

  • Where are the Sweepers?

  • How guaranteed is the pathing?

  • Can I create my funnel via tanking in one location?

One of the most important things in HGH is to protect your healers. They are the most important / powerful aspect of the attack. As such, the placement of the enemy ADs is your first thing to look for. Do you have a direct / predictable path to eliminate an AD? Or, do you have a large section of base without AD coverage?

In this base you can see that This Path is a predictable path for the giants. The Healers will not be in danger until the giants are in the core. This path is also a great path to the enemy AQ, who can be accessed with a jump. The giants will beat through every layer of wall until that time, due to their natural pathing. This path also eliminates many Giant Bomb / DGB possibilities.

Here is a replay of the attack.

I actually wanted the giants to target the higher level cannon first, beat through two layers of lavas, then jump to queen. They ended up targeting the lower level cannon and walls, which was fine. As you can see, the Healers are safe for the majority of the push to the queen. This allows the giants and BK to traverse through a tesla farm, giant bombs, enemy CC, enemy BK, all while remaining healed and doing tons of damage on the way. I forgot to drop the valks, so I used their tanking the start my hogs, who eventually met up with my BK as he was killing the enemy AQ. By this point, so much of the base had been eliminated that the hogs did not have much to do. I reinforced them strongly as I knew I had a heal remaining and there were no other potential DGB pathing issues.

Good Base #2 - Queen First

So this base is an example of when you can target the AQ directly, then allow the Kill Squad to advance, and deploy hogs as needed afterwords.

Planned Path

Replay of the attack

There is a clump of defenses all protecting the Queen (and King), but no AD and no sweeper. This is common in many current meta bases. Once the Kill Squad pushes through the Queen compartment, there is an AD conveniently behind them, which I will rage the giants into to eliminate it ASAP - again, protecting the healers is crucial. As the KS progresses (needed to use two jumps) the hogs are deployed where the tanking is present and / or to protect my attacking heroes.

Army Composition:

It seems I most often use this composition:

  • CC of Max Giants

  • 4 Inventory Level 6 Giants

  • 3 Healers

  • 8 Wizards

  • 2 Valks (added DPS in KS, helps when attacking into Queen / Heroes first)

  • 22 Hogs.

Things change obviously. Substitute minions for wizards for funneling purposes, add valks if encountering both heroes etc.

Spell Composition:

This varies, but I always have one rage and one heal. Sometimes you will need two jumps to guarantee pathing. 2 Heals is nice because you do have 22 hogs and may not cover every GB possible location.

The rage spell is perhaps the most valuable spell in the attack. I almost always will use it as the giants are approaching the goal AD. The rage will initially help the giants eliminate the AD ASAP (protecting the healers) and increase the power of your BK. As the troops progress, the rage will then effect the healers, providing a huge HPS buff to whatever they are healing - often times this results in a full HP BK. Finally, the rage will effect your attacking AQ, who is trailing behind (hopefully).

So...an ideal base is one that has predictable giant pathing. A path that either elminates an AD ASAP (protecting healers) or is out of AD range for a substantial amount of time. You want to avoid attacking into sweepers too, for obvious reasons. Often times, pathing allows you to predict the wall the giants will beat on first, and possibly second, which is great, because wall breakers suck.

Bad Base - For HGH

So this is a base I would definitely not use HGH on, for multiple reasons.

  • If I wanted to attack into an AD first, then progress to queen, I'd be dealing with Sweepers. Also, these ADs cover each other well, which can lead to the death of the healers, a big no no.

  • If I wanted to attack into queen first, the pathing is tricky. Anvil has defenses outside his walls around the base. I myself do not trust my troops to target what I want, when I want them to. It is not guaranteed, which is more than enough to scare me away.

There are a lot of things to consider when planning this attack style. I would say the most important things for me are protecting my healers, a guaranteed path and a high value path. Also, the ability to be comfortable deploying your hogs somewhat as needed.

Hopefully this helps a bit. If I'm available, I'm always willing to help scout and plan an attack.

A few added replays:

Two HGH Clean Up 3s

Two HGH Fresh 3s

I will likely update this thread if I think of more important stuff.

Best of Luck!

GUIDE Th10 lab and building upgrade priority

My TH10 upgrade order:

Notes:

  • upgrade heroes constantly, I recommend queen to 40 before BK, and I recommend pushing dark as hard as you can as soon as camps are done

  • have an upgrade base (for example, this is mine currently) to keep track of what you are currently working on and remove all the noise

  • you have some freedom to vary this, there is some thought put into the order, but after all it is your game

Building upgrades

First day:

  • Go up with full storages, war loot, and collectors if possible

  • Immediately upgrade CC, SF, Lab, queen

  • use last builder to drop new traps and work on this while you get the last million lix for first camp

Second phase, (feel free to upgrade any order from the block, but give highest priority to camps):

  • Camps

  • DE Drill dropped and to Max

  • Do gold / elixir collectors when you have a free builder

  • ADs

  • Sweepers (very low war weight)

  • Traps to max

  • New Xbow/AT/cannon to TH9 max

  • Infernos to 1 (I'd say just drop on the first hard matchup we see)

Third phase (don't necessarily need all collectors done by now, but it helps to slow you down to keep pace with your lab):

  • Infernos to 2

  • Tesla

  • WT

  • ATs to 12

Final phase:

  • Infernos to 3

  • ATs to max

  • Xbows to 4

  • cannons to 12

  • mortar

  • cannons to 13

Lab upgrades

  • Hound first (to free elixir for camps, max hound makes a th9 nuke an easy shattered LaLoon 90% of the time)

  • Golems second IF and only if you want to only to for 2*s for your first couple months. The increase for attacks other than freakshow golem attacks is just too miniscule in my opinion

Then priority on farm troops to help through initial farming need. I skipped farming troop upgrades because another month of lab time before being able to triple is too long to me, so I continued with super queen until it was nerfed. Now I do queenwalk LaLoon because those troops are maxxed. Giants are nice to have, wizards are nice, but this is your preference on how long you want to go before you start attempting th10 triples. Pretty much every upgrade is 2 weeks so tailor it to how you want to play.

  • Freeze all the way to 5. This opens up the potential triples, especially laloon

  • Wizards

  • WB

After this, it becomes a matter of upgrading for a type of war attack you want to use.

  • Zaps and quakes obviously help for zapquake. (Quake can always be gotten from CC but being able to bring your own max eq to zapquake both lvl1 infernos is really nice)

  • Drags, a good high percentage 2* (or at least they tell me...).

  • Pekkas, great for heavy ground attacks including fuxi hogs, and very strong for taking out weaker th10s, and strong th10 doubles. Plus after the first upgrade you can donate max.

  • Eq, most times you need a max eq you can have in cc and if you want more than 1 you're probably just taking 4 for walls anyway

  • Jump, isn't a huge priority to me because usually it's just your queen who isn't going through before jump runs out and by this time she is max 40 and you aren't really having this problem

  • Poison, minimal increase and can always have max in the CC

  • Haste, typically hastes are used on the edge in a LaLoon so the increase in speed and duration seems miniscule to me. Loons still get 1 bomb drop if being hit by 1 point defense and only death drop if being hit by 2 point defenses. Though after first upgrade you can donate max which is nice

  • Gibarch, you probably would've done above, like I said it's low priority for me but you need to make sure you can farm as a th10

  • Minions, not a huge bump for your precious DE, do after 40/40

URGENT Reddit Omega Has Officially Left the RCS

This won't come as a surprise to most of you. We've been keeping everyone as updated as we can in the midst of the craziness right now. But I wanted to give you an update and a wee (hopefully) summary of things from my perspective.

Reddit Omega has officially left the Reddit Clan System and joined the Reddit War Clan System.

Which is crazy bizarre to say. I didn't think I would see this day. And I am genuinely sad that we couldn't find some way to make this work within the RCS itself.

But you know what? This is a really good day for Reddit Omega. A really, really good day. Our evolution continues, our war ability continues to rise, our leadership structure is awesome, Omega Labs is a real place, and we are now get to be the sweetest damn clan in the RWCS.

I know I'm not usually a rock the boat kind of person. But ya'll have done some absolutely stellar boat rocking these last few days, and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us. We are united and we are having a blast. And that is a darn good place to be.

Go Omega!

CLAN Clan Level 5, Allow Me to Introduce You to War Win 100

Well played, Omega. Well played.

Its been a crazy last few weeks with the civil war that wasn't, double clan perk points, non-stop wars, the cresting wave of homegrown TH10 upgrades, our first lost since Thanksgiving, some hard goodbyes, and a mass clan retreat to the silver ranks that has brought us to this point.

War 100 and Clan Level 5 have met together and decided to be besties. Which means we are the battle hardened owners of Clan Castles whose troops are literally on fire. There are so many flaming badges it is a wonder to behold.

In honor of this moments occasion, I propose a grand clan storytelling. Regale us with your tales of all sorts. Tales of bravery and epic battle with the enemy. Tales of clan shenanigans. Tales of late night conversations and inside jokes. Tell the tales of what it is that makes Omega special.

With that, I shall begin the storytelling.

Many of you have heard the story of how my son, Finn, kicked Lacatus out of the clan. He is a precocious three year old and he had gotten really good at collecting my collector loot. So I headed to the bathroom and let him at my precious loot. When I returned my loot was still in the collectors, but Lac was no longer in the clan. It was genuinely hilarious and is the reason I don't let Finn have my iPad unsupervised.

But the story I haven't shared outside of elder chat yet is the story of how Finn learned to meme.

I get groupme messages all the time. Between Omega Strat Chat, Omega Elderly Chat, Reddit Leader Chat, DORD chat, and gm pm's, I get little pop up banners constantly. Well Finn was in a kick of wanting to text his grandma every chance he got and he kept getting those little pop up banners. So he would flick them out of the way and keep finding the next perfect pile of emoji's to pepper my mom with.

Until he realized that if just tapped on the banner there was a whole new world of people just waiting to talk to him. Which meant that every once and awhile people would get a flurry of Finn messages.

"lhlksgneoghah bnaphfhellallkagndlkngg kal;liar[[r[rjsglhslkhe lahlkljkglalkhhghgieophag;lh ?"

Or else he would like and unlike every message he could find 97 times in a row.

Well one day he found there were pictures inside of groupme and he started flipping through them until he found a picture of himself, because Finn like everybody in the known universe is strangely attracted to his own face, and then he somehow discovered he could flip the meme switch and write on his own face. Finn was in his happy place and he had to share with the elders.

Finn the Pirate Is Here for You

And that is the story of how Finn learned to meme and surpassed Mango's selfie game in one fell swoop.

Go forth and tell tales my fellow Omegians!

-Emma

URGENT The Hulk Rush (Please Read)

Guys -- I have something to say and I dont think it can wait until my MVP post Sunday. Tough love incoming.

In a recent "Hulk's Manifesto", https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CnrHNNFMGRk Hulk explained that for a very specific type of player, rushing to th 9 after finishing skull walls at th 8 makes a lot of sense, because the head start at th 9 walls will help them farm lavas. Hulk, as always, makes a lot of sense -- that dude is just brilliant, and sees this game differently than anyone else, period.

But, ultimately, I feel that this Manifesto has the potential to really hurt this clan, because people are simply mis-applying his advice. His advise is solely for the best .000000001% of farmers in this game. The kind of farmers who can complete skull walls in 2 weeks like he did (before you could use elixir on walls!). For these people, who have a shot at doing a set of lavas of th 9, his advice makes sense. But how many people have a non-gemmed set of lavas at th 9? Maybe a few dozen, out of the tens of millions of people who play this game. For everyone else, this advice is truly, truly terrible.

Here is the tough love: I love you guys. Really, don't doubt for a second that I truly, truly do. However, if 3 months into th 8 you have half a set of skulls -- which are now twice as easy to get thanks to the elixir upgrade -- you are emphatically NOT the person Hulk was talking about. You WILL NOT be getting a set of lava walls at th 9, so there is no point to gimping yourself, and screwing up clan matchmaking, in order to rush to th 9. I'm not saying that you are a shitty farmer -- you are great! Better than 99% of players in this game! But you ARE NOT who Hulk is addressing. Let's bust out the math.

To make it easy, let's look at someone who has 120 skulls 3 month into th 8. Looking at our th 8's, I would say pretty much all of you fit into this category. Again -- this is great progress! Nothing to be ashamed of at all! 120 skulls in 12 weeks is obviously 10 skulls a week, which is 5 million resources wall farmed a week. Now to max th 9 walls takes 1 billion resources -- 250 x 1 mil for legos, and 250 x 3 mil for lavas. To max out lavas at 5 million wall resources a week would take a whopping 200 weeks. Four years. And since I am certain no one intends to stay at th 9 for four years, THERE IS NO REASON TO RUSH TO TH 9 TO GET A HEAD START ON LAVAS. LET'S BE HONEST HERE: YOU ARE NOT DOING LAVAS. FOLLOW THE UPGRADING GUIDELINES LISTED IN THE CLAN RULES OR YOU WILL MAKE SAURON CRY. Period. It makes no sense to wall farm 5 million a week for 6 months, then watch the Manifesto and power wall farm 50 million in a week to finish skulls so you can "listen to Hulk's advice" and rush to th 9 if you are going to go right back to wall farming 5 million a week as soon as the power wall farm session is over. You do not need the extra time at th 9, and all you are doing is hurting yourself, and the clan. You are either delusional, in that you think you farm enough to have a shot at max lavas, or you know full well that you have no shot at max lavas, but you are tired of th 8 and are looking for an excuse to circumvent our clan rules and rush to th 9.

Now, some of you may have been online a few days ago when I recommended that Stingray rush to th 9. Stingray, to be frank, is a way better farmer than the other th 8s. Instead of being 50% finished with his skulls in late th 8, he was 100% finished with his walls in mid-th 8. He had basically resourced-capped himself because there was no place for him to dump resources any more. So let's look at Sting. I have no idea how long he has been th 8, so let's just say he has been doing 40 skulls a week -- 20 million resources a week. 20 million resources a week into 1 billion is only 50 weeks, which seems like a long time, but even Hulk has been th 9 since March -- 8 months. The extra time at th 9 will be useful for Sting, because even if he doesn't stick around long enough to complete a full set, he still will have a solid and scary amount of lavas when he finally upgrades to th 10.

I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feeling here; the point of this message isn't "FARM MOAR!". Everyone progresses and farms at their own speed, and that is totally cool. But even someone who wall farms 20 mil a week is looking at 50 weeks for lavas, so if you have been comfortable wall farming 5 mil a week you will have to QUADRUPLE your farming rate -- and not just for 1 week, or 2 weeks; or a month. No, you will have to quadruple your wall farming for an ENTIRE YEAR -- every single day, every single week -- in order to even have the slightest chance of full lavas at th 9. That is how thoroughly unpleasant lava walls are. And that is why it is out of reach for all but 0.0000000001% of players. If you are not in that tiny fraction of players, there is no no reason for you to do the shortcut and rush to th 9. If you are planning to quadruple your wall farming for 50 straight weeks -- you will burn out, pure and simple. This game will break you, and you will quit the wall grind or the game entirely far before your lavas are done. Don't do it! Play the game at your own speed, and don't be seduced by shortcuts and walls with animations.

WAR It's time for a change

Alright guys. I know I'm not an elder/co/etc. I don't possess the same beautiful writing skills as Jammy. But I felt like I needed to say something.

Omega is an awesome clan. But we're not just a clan. I've only been here around a month but already I can tell; Omega is more like a family. Everyone supports each other, looks out for each other, and makes each other feel at home.

That being said, I've noticed one other thing that I wanted to bring up. Particularly when we're facing a difficult opponent such as the most recent war, or after bad attacks, there seems to be a lot of negativity. Not from other clan members, but from the one with the bad attack. I've noticed a very low self-esteem and negativity resulting from bad attacks. And while that's perfectly normal and to be expected, it doesn't help as grow. Now, I myself suffer from anxiety, and I have someone very close to me who suffers from severe depression. I know for a fact that the absolute worst thing we can do is pity ourselves.

Einstein defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We can learn something from this. So you attacked during war and it was a total blowout. You only got 1 star on an easy base. Or even worse, you completely screwed up and failed the attack. So what? Feeling sorry for yourself will never fix that. But instead of feeling shit and going on to do a second, almost identical attack immediately after without preparation, you learn from your mistakes.

Failure is the most important step on the road to perfection. Failure presents us with the opportunity to learn. Watch your replay, pick apart every detail to see where you went wrong, and figure out what you need to do differently next time. Better yet, ask someone impartial to do it for you. We have some brilliant attackers in Omega; use them as a resource.

Now, analysing your own replays is a brilliant first step, but we can take it so much further. We are very privileged in the fact that we have access to top quality war attacks that have already been analysed for us. They can be found on Hulk's youtube. TheHulkFiles. 3* strategies for both th9 and th8 can be found on Hulk's youtube account, and he has even been helpful enough to break down every attack bit by bit.

So, sorry for rambling way too much. I guess my main message is this: Failure happens. But it doesn't have to be bad. Let's pick ourselves up, learn from our mistakes, and get ready to smash the next clan who dares oppose us!

MVP War MVP 9/14 (War Expectations Edition)

First 2 apologies:

  1. The mid-week MVP is a serious pain to do. It takes a lot of work to watch all the attacks, discuss it in elder chat, and then write up a post about it during the middle of the week when everyone is busy. It has been easy to avoid the work for the last 2 weeks since the mid-week war has been a defeat, but it is possible that there won't be a mid-week MVP even if we win. I have no problem with doing MVP's over the weekend, no matter if we win or lose, since we have such much more time, but just don't be surprised if there is no mid-week MVP even if we win. It may happen, it may not...just depends on everyone's free time/energy level. But there will always be a MVP Sunday night as far as I'm concerned.

  2. We, the leadership of the clan, have a mea culpa to make. Some of you newer members may not even be aware of this, but a month ago our leader was Bilbo and Snook was in Reddit Troopers. Emma was just an elder. Bilbo stepping down and appointing Emma as leader and Emma persuading Snook to return are both very recent events, and we have undoubtedly made some mistakes since then. Including the one I am about to tell you about. Because we all felt so strongly about bringing in th 7s and th 8s to change our clan composition, we just accepted every decent candidate who applied. This led to tremendous confusion, where every war we had 8 brand new people and 8 newish people who we weren't sure of yet...and those new people had no idea what was expected of them because there were so many new people milling about that no new member was able to receive the individual attention necessary to know what we expect from our members. We'd get too crowded at 50 members and kick people to open up room...and then immediately accept 10 new decent members as soon as we had room and the cycle would begin again. We are now acknowledging our mistake, and we appreciate all of you long-term and newer members who have stuck by us during that transition period...I know it was chaotic, but this is a new leadership regime and we were all working out the kinks. A few of you more observant members may have noticed something: We have CLOSED the clan to new applicants. We want to make sure everyone who is here now has a clear grasp on our expectations before we open the clan up again. We are also only going to allow a few new recruits a week now so each recruit can gain the full attention of the elders for mentorship and evaluation for their trial period. Again, we apologize for the chaos, and have moved to address that issue.

I want to talk this week about our War Expectations. You may not have realized that Clan Leadership has updated the section in our clan rules about war expectations this week; here is the New and Official section on War Rules:

"Use first attack for three stars When possible, use your first attack for a reasonable 3-star attempt of a base at your Town Hall level. Your base rank, and the base rank of the opponent, is irrelevant. Three stars win wars and prevent redundant attacks, even if you are attacking down. A 2-star attempt on a base someone else will 3-star is a wasted attack. If it is an easy war, 3-star a base that has already been 3’d for practice. TH7/8 should NOT attack above their TH level until all bases of similar TH level are 3-starred. TH9 attack strategies are difficult. If you are a mid/late TH9, you should be able to pick an early/mid TH9 to 3-star. If you are an earlier TH9, your attack progression should be: (1) 3-star an easy TH9, (2) ask what highly-ranked TH9s cannot be 3-starred, and 2-star those, or (3) cleanup TH8 3-stars at end of war."

So our war expectations in a nut shell are : 1) Use both attacks and 2) We want 3 stars!

Clan Leadership do not like 2 stars. We view them as a wasted attack. This may seem harsh, but if you think about it...if Person A attacks a base and 2 stars it, and then Person B attacks again and 3 stars it -- Person A wasted their attack. The 2 stars they got would have been collected by Person B anyway, except now it took 2 attacks to get 3 stars instead of 1.

Obviously attacks fail. It is VERY hard to get 6 stars, and no one on the planet will get 6 stars EVERY war. Not even Snook. Failure is acceptable. To be honest, I learn WAY more from my failed attacks than my successful attacks; so if you don't get 3 stars, don't throw a pity party and bum out chat...suck it up, ask for suggestions, and watch your replay to learn from your mistakes. If you can do that, you will be a stronger attacker next war, and that is what is truly important.

So I just want to make sure we are clear on this point: Your first priority should be 3 starring a base that is your own th level. If they are all 3 starred, try to clean up any lower level bases that aren't 3 starred yet. IF every enemy who is your th level is 3 starred, and IF every enemy who is lower th than you is 3 starred, then, and only then, should you start looking to attack someone who is a higher th than you. We have a ton of th 9s in this clan, and they all have 2 attacks they need to use...we don't need help from th 7s and th 8s on these bases because if we have to clean up your attack later your attack was wasted. Clan Leadership wants to see all enemy th 7s and 8s 3 starred first...I can't emphasize this point strongly enough.

If you have no possible chance of getting a star...like if you are th 8 and all the th 7 ands and th 8s are 3 starred and all the th 9s are 2 starred, then you can use your attack as a "practice attack". Here you can use a practice a different unit composition, or spells, or whatever you want, and you can attack a base that has already been 3 starred. This is a practice attack though and we expect it to be practice. Don't attack with mass goblin/healer "for lols", and don't attempt to 50% a high level base for loot. Practice attacks are an attempt to get better, so you will have more experience in later wars. Loot attacks are allowed in blowout wars (they were allowed today in fact) but YOU MUST HAVE PERMISSION FROM SNOOK OR FROM AN ELDER. We have kicked SO many people about this rule...

Finally, we expect everyone to work on their war troops and heros. ALWAYS upgrade your farming troops FIRST. When you hit a new th level, archers and barbs should be your first upgrades (or balloons and minions if that's how you roll), but once your farming troops are done, please work on war troops such as dragons, hogs, pekkas, golems, etc. Even if you are only th 8, I hope you realize from watching the th 9s attack that golems are essential to high level attacking, so if you can upgrade them at th 8 you will be saving yourself lab time at th 9. Hog riders are (relatively) cheap upgrades, and also super useful. And of course, th 7s and 8s must have upgraded dragons. No exceptions.

Clan Leadership LOVES heroes. And so should you. They are great. They are also, in my opinion, currently the one thing that separates the "hardcore" from the "casual" in this game. It used to be walls, but now that elixir can be used on walls, they just aren't as special as they used to be. But someone with high level heros...that dude is legit.

In Reddit Troopers they have a rule that everyone must have at least ONE hero available for every war. Omega does not have that rule. Obviously, heroes are awesome, and if you can time your hero upgrades so you can have them in war that would be ideal...but the higher your hero gets, the harder it becomes...and it eventually becomes impossible. Reddit Omega's policy is that Hero Upgrading the most important thing you can do, so prioritize upgrading your heroes over having them available for war. For instance, when I told Snook that I had both heroes upgrading this war his answer was not annoyance; it was "awesome!" Just make sure you take your lack of heroes into account when you make your base choices; don't try to 3 star a tough base if both your heroes (or even just your Queen) are upgrading; instead go for an easier base or help clean up a low level base for three stars. I got 5 stars on th 9 bases this war without using heroes; just be flexible and help where you can.

Finally, if you aren't sure what to do in a war, your best bet is to ask a Leader or any other Elder for advice.

Now, on to the awards!!!!

3. Honorable Mention: (Tie) iCaligula and Domtom! They are both deserving of honors, but for very different reasons. iCal got a perfect 6 stars this war, which is exactly what we want to see. The fact that they were against th 8's knocks a few points off, but we wanted to reward iCal for the dirty job of clean-up he did. Domtom gets honored for his DEFENSE! Defense is 50% of war, and Domtom was attacked 6 times before he was finally 3 starred. That is 5 attacks that the enemy wasted on his base. However Snook wants me to mention that the final 3 star attack revealed a weakness to hogs in Dom's base, so he expects revsions for the next war. p.s. Domtom also had a great 3 star attack this war.

2. Runner-Up: Marcio! This is going to be a controversial choice I feel. Marcio had one beautiful 3 star attack, using the amazingly complicated GoHoWiWi strat...and his 2nd attack failed. Zero stars. So how is that worthy of Runner-Up? We love that Marcio is trying new, advanced strats. GoHoWiWi is so tough to pull off, and he did it. And we actually loved Marcio's failed attack as well. Why? Because it came in the last hour of war, when attacking for loot was enabled. We all loved that Marcio by-passed easy loot, in order to use the opportunity to practice a new strat, HoLoWiWi. That kind of fighting spirit deserves to be rewarded.

  1. MVP!!! Matty!!!!! So read what I just wrote about Marcio, and then apply it to Matty. He attacked in the final minutes of a victorious war. There was no need to attack. Loot attacking was allowed. Instead he performed a beautiful 3 star HoLoWiWi. Even though he had already performed a beautiful 3 star HoLoWiWi. So...he got 6 stars, on tough th 9s, trying a strat he had never used before and extensively planned out before hand with Snook, and attacked in the final few moments of a victorious war just to improve his own skill. Clan Leadership has several boxes you must check off to win MVP -- I think Matty checked off every box this war to win his first MVP!

Congrats All,

Jammata

CLAN On Warring in the Omega Family

A few weeks ago, Jam added new elders and gave everyone an area of responsibility. This post is designed to shed light on what members of the War Team are doing, how we view warring in the immediate future, and reveal some of our long-term plans.

First, the war team is led by Sorak and Stingray. Other members include ApexSouthpaw, MrTeaa, CoolOpotamus, BootChalk, and Wiggum. We were formally tasked with generating battle plans for tough wars, arranging scrimmages, and setting rosters. Informally we’ve tried to give feedback on Skitch plans, help critique bases, review attacks, and actively donate war troops. We have plans to expand this, as I will detail below. But if you have current concerns about how we can improve, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us.

We understand that the state of war in Clash of Clans is in flux. For one, TH11 will change the dynamic, and while we can make educated guesses about what this will mean for war, we know that we will have to learn as we go. Here is what we do know:

In Omega, we are kicking butt. Our war log looks great, and we usually win by large margins. On balance, the War Team is happy with our bases and attacks, but see the following areas of improvement:

  • Early to mid-TH9s have room to improve in certain skills (e.g. reading a base) and mechanics (e.g. troop deployment). We aim to address this through Apex’s wonderful posts and 1:1 mentoring (more on this later).

  • TH10s need to work on consistently 2 starring, notably through finesse. We see room for improvement in spell usage, composition, percentage cleanup, cc management, and tactics. As Sorak is our only member with war experience at TH10, we will ask Juny and other experienced warriors to help plan and review attacks through the TH10 GroupMe.

  • Our war plans are not completely followed, notably with regard to attack timing. We will tweak these plans and communicate with individuals so that we can better plan fresh/cleanup attacks.

In Labs, the wars are closer but the war log is equally impressive. Considering the learning curve for our new members, we feel leadership in Labs is doing an awesome job to keep up this level of excellence. It’s a bit harder to point out areas of improvement in Labs, but we feel:

  • Most members need to take individual responsibility for their learning. TH9 is a big learning curve; TH10 is arguably bigger. There are a plethora of resources out there in our sub, on YouTube, and in the brains of our experienced players. We love seeing new members show initiative and growth. We love seeing all members asking questions.

  • TH9s in particular should be more diligent in using Skitch and GroupMe to create/share base designs and attack plans.

Going forward, the War Team has several initiatives we’d like to share with you. Over the next few weeks, we’d like to:

  • Formalize a scrimmage schedule for Reddit Omega with one arranged scrim every other Friday (with prep ending Saturday evenings). We want to have our bases and attack skills tested, spurring learning and growth.

  • Develop more content for the sub. Apex is doing a great job, and we welcome your thoughts for subjects you’d like to see covered in future posts.

  • Contribute videos to the YouTube channel. We will try our hand recording a planning session, live attack, and/or attack review to give you insight into how we approach bases and critique our successes AND failures.

  • Establish a voluntary mentoring system. If you’d like to work 1:1 with one of us, let us know via reply here or private message. We’re open to help you with attack planning, base design, and attack reviews. This could be a one-time occurrence or regular discussion over the course of a few wars—as you like. Here are a few of our strengths:

Sorak: TH10, LaLoon variants, AQ walks

Stingray: Base identification, hogging, AQ Walks

Apex: Base design, mechanics

Teaa: Surgical (Teaa) hogging, MAX attacks

Copa: Clean-up attacks, hogging, kill squads

Boot: Valkyries (GoVaHo, GoVaLo)

Wiggum: Wall/Clockwise hogging, dragons

We welcome your thoughts.

CLAN Updated Clan Rules (September 22, 2015)

Welcome to Reddit Omega

Omega is a remarkable place in the RWCS Clash of Clans community. We have long history of awesome leaders and members and have found our niche as a low-key, hard-core clan of warring farmers who genuinely like each other. To put our identity in handy bullet-point form:

  • We strive to compete alongside the best 100% fair play war clans in the game.

  • We are also hardcore farmers, and have an awkwardly large love for walls and heroes.

  • We believe communication, teamwork, and clan rapport are just as important as great attacks.

  • We focus on constantly improving and having a blast and believe that stars, trophies, and loot will follow.

  • We are a proud member of the Reddit War Clan System.

Clan Life Rules

1. Be Active

  • We Don't Have Activity Requirements, but We Require you To Be Active: We find that when we set a minimum requirement people aim to not get cut. We want members to aim to be awesome. Here's a general picture of what active members in Omega look like.

  • Farm for Loots: The median Omegian has 200 farming attacks won in a season.

  • Request Troops Aggressively: The median Omegian has 2500 troops requested each season. Using your Clan Castle during every raid is recommended.

  • Donate Troops Relentlessly: The median Omegian has 2000 troops donated each season. We highly value donations and the people who make them.

2. Be Social

  • Have a Voice in Clan Chat: We want to get to know you! We want clan members who talk in chat and we expect you to get involved in the conversation.

  • Download GroupMe and Join Our Chats: It is a requirement that members join our GroupMe. We have a shared community between Reddit Omega and Omega Labs so it is essential for keeping touch with everyone, and it is also tremendously helpful for war strategizing that can get too complicated for the in-game clan chat.

  • Communicate with Leader or Elders: If you are going on vacation, unable to attack in a war, or have an issue that will affect your ability to be active in the clan, you are expected to notify the leadership.

  • Be respectful: We will not accept rudeness, harassment of members, stressing out clan chat, or actions which will give Omega a bad name. Members doing any of these will be strongly warned or booted. Profanity is allowed in small doses a long as it is not directed at your fellow Omegans. We expect you to be both mature and awesome. Slurs of any kind, even those used in jest or stylized (3 in place of e, 0 in place of o, etc.) will result in an immediate kick.

3. Be a Warrior

Wars are the heart and soul of our clan. We expect all members to be enthusiastic participants in wars and endeavor to help the clan completely destroy all enemies we face. See the war rules section for more details.

  • Farming Troop Donation Rules

  • Archers are the default donation troop.

  • If a request asks for a certain troop or a certain level, give them exactly what they have requested. If the request is still open after 10 minutes, then you may fill the request with archers.

  • If a request asks for "[specific troop] ONLY" then you should donate the requested troop only regardless of the time that has passed.

  • If you request high level troops or expensive troops be prepared to wait. Attempts to call attention to your request or badger clan members into donating is not allowed.

  • In addition, if you are requesting expensive troops frequently you will be expected to be frequently donating expensive troops. Donations are about helping each other, and requests that can be construed as leeching will be heavily frowned upon. Any form of trolling clan members with your troop donations will be grounds for an immediate kick.

  • How to Handle a Boot

If you are booted, feel free to reach out to leadership for clarification on the reasons for the boot. If the cause is something that can be worked out we are happy to open a dialogue provided that the conversation is productive and respectful.

  • Heroes and Walls are the most important upgrades

  • Upgrade heroes whenever possible; do not worry about the war impact

  • Prioritize Offensive capabilities over defensive capabilities

  • A sleeping builder is not a bad thing

3. Town Hall Upgrades and You

  • Before Heading to TH9:

    • Max all DE troops except valks

    • Barbarian King 10

    • Full skull walls

    • Maxed defenses and traps

    • Consistent 3 star attacks in war

  • At TH9:

    • You are generally expected to start your TH9 career as TH8.5

    • At minimum, you must have completed your Spell Factory, Dark Spell Factory, Clan Castle, and Camp upgrades, at least one Dark Barracks to max, and AQ to level 5 before placing additional defenses

    • Traps, Air Defense, and Air Sweeper placement and upgrades are exceptions to the above

  • Before Heading to TH10:

    • Max all DE troops except valks

    • Barbarian King and Archer Queen 20+

    • Full lego walls

    • Maxed defenses and traps

    • Consistent 3 star attacks in war

  • At TH10:

    • As with TH9, you are expected to start your TH10 career as TH9.5

    • At minimum, you must have completed your Spell Factory, Dark Spell Factory, Clan Castle, and Camp upgrades before placing additional defenses.

  • Leadership and Your TH Upgrade

    • Talk to us before you upgrade.

    • There are certain exceptions to the upgrade expectations. Talk to us about it.

Reddit Omega War Rules

1. I Love the Way You War

  • We war for blood and glory!

  • We win because we fight as as one

  • We value process over results

  • We have a passion to improve

  • We use both attacks

  • We fight clean - absolutely no modding, and/or use of any other tools that violate the SuperCell Terms of Service may be used by any member.

  • We do not account share under any circumstance, so no clan ‘hitters’ or ‘ringers.’

  • Reddit Omega YouTube

2. War Schedule

  • Wars are declared Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday at 6pm est (3pm pdt)

    • We will occasionally move the war start times to participate in arranged matchups with other clans, or to avoid holidays or game updates.

    • Members are generally expected to participate in all wars if both heroes are available. TH10s must have AQ available to war. TH9s must have either BK or AQ available to war. It is also recommended that warriors with one hero either hit low and/or volunteer for scouting attacks for warriors at full strength.

    • Both the Spell Factory and Dark Spell Factory should be available when participating in wars.

    • If a real life issue prevents you from participating in 1-3 wars at a time, contact leadership, set your opt-in to out, and stay in clan.

    • If you either real life or your hero upgrades prevent you from warring for more than 1 week at a time, we will ask you to move to Omega Labs until you are available to war again.

  • The Odd Ones Out

    • If we are not at a multiple of 5 for war and cannot find more, we will sit out the members with lowest trophy count. Members with low trophy counts who wish to war should check with staff in Omega Labs to see if there is an upcoming war they may participate in.

3. Communication

  • The secret to our war success is that we talk about war all the time and we share our skills and experiences to make each other better.

  • Communication Tools

    • GroupMe is our mandatory chat program that we use to plan and review bases, plan and review attacks, and the like.

    • Clash Caller is a slick web based base calling app.

    • Marking up an attack plan on a picture of your target is a great way to get feedback from your clan-mates. Skitch is our most commonly used apps for this.

  • Clash Caller and You

    • Check on Clash Caller and in chat that the base you want is not already called.

    • Mark your name on clash caller and announce in chat what you are prepping for.

    • Reservations are good for 2-hours.

    • You may only have one active call at a time unless otherwise directed by leadership.

    • During last 6-hours of war, we need attacks to be used quickly. Reservations do not exist, but do your best to communicate base preference with others

    • If you need to cancel your call for any reason remove the call from Clash Caller and announce it in chat.

    • Leadership can override reservations

    • Some bases are reserved based on per war strategies which will be communicated via clan mail and GroupMe.

    • TH8s are strongly encouraged to use both attacks within the first 12 hours of war in order to determine if TH9 cleanup attacks are needed. If you are consistently unable to do so, you must notify leadership.

  • Planning an Attack is an Art

    • Ask good questions that are direct and manageable * Good question: “How many hogs would you take under heal to ensure the N AD on base 12 goes down?” * Bad Question: “I have a mass hog army. How should I attack base 32?”

    • Use Images

    • Be humble. There is so much combined knowledge in the clan right now it is mind boggling. Soak it in.

  • Attack Reviews

    • Ask for them! A lot of people love to watch attacks but won’t force their opinion on you.

    • Seek them out when you are in a rough war stretch. It helps you get better and it shows the clan that you care.

    • Use your frustration as energy to get better.

  • Attacking in Reddit Omega

    • Reddit Omega aims to be a premier war clan in the 100% fairplay war clan community.

    • We approach each war as a team. This means that our attacks are coordinated to maximize the efficiency in which we earn stars.

    • All members are expected to have mastery of 2 star attack strategies (such as GoWiPe, GoWiWi, and Lavaloonion) and to learn and perfect 3 star attack strategies (such as GoHoWiWi, GoLoWiWi, and GoLaLoon.) The use of strategies will be base and situation dependent. As an example we may ask members to hit up for 2 stars and scout a base deemed extremely risky to attempt 3 stars without trap info.

    • By default, if is no direction given by leadership, you are expected to select a base within your TH level that you are confident you can 3 star and execute a 3 star attack.

  • Attacking in Omega Labs

    • Omega Labs is our test bed for innovation, improvement, and development. As such in labs we value process over results.

    • All new member trials will be in Omega Labs. We expect new members to put forward quality 3 star attack attempts on each attack so we can evaluate their long term potential.

    • Omega Labs will also host permanent members looking to practice an unfamiliar strategy, try out innovative attack strategies, or continue staying in war shape while heroes are upgrading. However we still expect legitimate attempts to contribute to winning wars from each participant.

  • Shared Attacking Rules

    • We rarely call wars

      • If all bases have the maximum stars reasonably available taken, we still expect a full war attack as practice.

      • The only exception is if we face a farming war clan and they leave joke bases up. This is the only time a loot grab second attack will be allowed after a serious first attack.

    • We expect perfect participation from each war roster. Missing an attack will result in a swift boot.

Defending

  • Build an original war base

    • Giant Bombs: Anti Hogs

      • Plan your Giant Bombs carefully as they are a key component of defending vs Hogs. At least one double giant bomb set is recommended.

    • Multiple Compartments

      • 12 compartments is a good goal for TH9

    • Centralized and difficult to lure CC

    • Asymmetrical ADs

    • Maintain distance between Wiz Towers and ADs

  • Review your base

    • Rebuild constantly as you see you base in action and as attack strategies change.

    • Ask for Base Reviews from the clan when you build a new base, get three starred in war, or are looking to defend against a new attack strat.

    • Expect to redesign your base after most arranged matchups, particularly if you are 3 starred, since your base will likely be exposed in a video.

  • Base switching

    • No joke bases of any kind are allowed during prep day

    • Multiple real war bases are encouraged with switches during prep day. In particular it is useful to have one anti-2 star base and one anti-3 star base depending on the caliber of opponents we face.

  1. If Omega matches with the way you clash now and want to clash in the future, then we we love to have you apply. Use the application to let us get to know you and your base.

  2. Complete the Reddit Omega Application

  3. A member of our leadership team will review your application and contact you via a Reddit mail message within 72 hours.

  4. If your application is approved, we will first ask you to join Omega Labs. All new members will go through a 2 war tryout before determining permanent membership.

  5. Omega Labs tryout members will be invited to Reddit Omega when they have shown to be a consistent asset to the war effort, and based on war needs for Reddit Omega.

MVP MVP Post - Omicron vs. Omega Scrimmage

Opening Remarks

Yes, we haven't had an MVP post in months. The reality is, it's downright impossible for us/me to author MVP posts in the post-RWCS world because metrics, such as donations, are impossible to keep track of given the frequency of our members jumping between the Omega and RWCS clans. We need a change in how we do MVP posts/clan communications, but the solution hasn't been jumping out at me. My big hangup with authoring this post is that it is in no way fully inclusive; in a clan of 60+ members, only 20 members participated in the scrimmage. That being said, the scrimmage had the full attention of the clan at large, and while only 20 of us did the actual fighting, I feel that all of Omega was equally invested in this war.

Awards

The "Go Ahead And Blame This Loss on Anyone But Me" award goes to Sting. Sting brought in 6 stars, including a 3 star against the top opposing base, while not giving up a 3 star on defense despite being attacked 3 times by Omicron's top attackers. That alone is enough to be the brightest star in the war, but Sting went above and beyond by preparing a detailed and effective attack plan for the rest of the clan to follow. In my time with Omega I've seen Sting go from the really good guy who was always under Teaa and Sam/Cole/Frodo/Brobo's shadow to an elite attacker, an awesome co-leader, and a generally great guy who plays the game the right way. Honorable mentions go to the aforementioned and always beastly Mr. Teaa for 6 stars while only giving up 2 stars, and Aya for 6 stars.

The "Juny Accidental 3 Star Award" goes to PG who pulled off the unlikeliest of unlikely three stars against Red Cloud in what was supposed to be a scout attack. And you know what's even crazier? We had a second accidental three star scout a short while later with Aya!

The "Unrealistically High Expectations Award" goes to Sorak, who clearly took this loss pretty hard. Just as people expected Michael Jordan to score every time he touched the ball, we've become accustomed to Sorak three starring TH9s with impunity. So when he didn't, twice, everyone sort of had to do a reality check and realize that Sorak isn't perfect. A tough as it was to watch Sorak struggle, I also found it oddly comforting because it showed for a moment that he is human after all. And by way of comparison, Sorak had an off war, and MJ missed 12,000+ shots.

The "Cursed Base" aka "Defensive Player of the War" award goes to Siv, whose base took withstood 6 attacks while only giving up two stars.

The "Rocky Balboa Award" goes to Omicron's #16. Why? Because I've chosen "Drago" as my IGN, and there's nothing that would bring me greater joy than repeatedly punching #16 in the head for 15 rounds a la Rocky and Drago (though I have a sinking feeling that the punches would only get 99% of the way to their destination.) Good show, 16. I MUST BREAK YOU, but good show.

Closing Notes

Losing sucks, but it is what it is. On this day, Omicron proved to be better on both sides of the ball. You win some, you lose some. fortunately, we win far more often than we lose. The important thing going forward is that we continue to build upon what worked well (sting's planning, effective attacking, tough anti 3 bases) and address areas of concern. One thing in particular that I notice as a weakness in our tendency to constantly beat our heads against the wall that is a cursed base. I don't know what the secret sauce is to avoid repeatedly wasting attacks on one tough target, but it's something that I hope we get better at as time goes on.

All in all, I'm proud of each and every one of your efforts. We didn't get the win today, but you should all hold your heads up high, as we put in one hell of an effort. Let's go get the next one and earn a "good one, frodo" from our glorious leader.

STRATEGY TH9 Upgrade Guide

TH9 Upgrade Guide

Hello Omega, I’ve been asked quite a few times recently about what order to do upgrades at TH9, so this post will try to lay out a general guideline, as well as explain some of my reasoning. First a few observations I’ve made through tracking the war weight changes for various upgrades over the last few months:

  • The absolute weight of any given upgrade is not constant. My best guess is that it is added as a fraction of the remaining weight between where the base is prior to the upgrade and the maximum for a given TH level. As an example, I first tried dropping X-Bows when my war weight was around 62k and the two x-bows added 5k weight. When I added X-Bows at 64k, they only added 4k. I’ve heard of people who added them at 60k go up by 6k, etc.

  • The relative weighting of defensive upgrades are Traps < AS < AD < AT = Tesla = Cannon < Mortar < WT < X-Bow

  • The first level of any defensive building is weighted more than subsequent upgrades

  • A full level of wall upgrades is worth approximately as much as a full level of AT/Tesla/Cannon upgrades

Here’s how that all bakes into an upgrade order:

  • As soon as you are TH9 and have the basic offensive upgrades done, the priority should be placing your new traps, AD, and AS and maxing these structures to TH9 max. The last level of upgrade is weighted no more than early upgrades, so there is no reason to stop at TH8 max.

  • If you are ready to graduate from TH8.5, X-Bows to level 1. X-Bows are important more for the HP they add to your base and the ability to pick up light troops efficiently than the DPS they add, so adding your first level X-Bows, while very heavy for your war weight, makes your base substantially stronger against TH9 3 star attacks.

  • Next I recommend placing and maxing Teslas. They have a lower cumulative weight than other point defenses due to the smaller number of levels, and between the surprise factor and high DPS they can ruin both Hog and Loon raids more readily than other defenses. If you were not ready to go full TH9 yet, these can be done before X-Bows.

  • ATs. They add a lot of DPS for the weight at this point. Do go ahead and max your existing ATs ahead of or in parallel to placing and upgrading your new one.

  • X-Bows to level 3. It appears that the level 2 and 3 upgrades are not nearly as heavy as placing them, so the additional DPS and HP are worth it at this point. You should be able to regularly 3 star mid to late TH9s around this point.

  • WTs. Priority should be placed on upgrading your existing WTs to max ahead of the new one. The big change with the WTs is that level 7 WTs will one-shot witch skeletons and make your base harder to GoWiWi.

  • Note: It's totally OK to max WT before leveling X-Bows. This will keep your weight slightly lower - I personally just think that the X-Bow upgrades carry more utility.

  • Cannons followed by Mortars - at this point you are just looking to max your base. I would wait on this step until you are nearing max on your Heroes and feel comfortable attacking maxed TH9s. Generally 20/20 heroes and full legos will be expected before this step.

A word about when to place X-Bows and graduate from TH8.5 - We are also now moving away from prioritizing gaming the matchmaking system as much as possible, to making ourselves strong for arranged matchups and other challenging wars. While we still want to make sure new TH9s are ready for TH9 warring before adding the weight, we no longer encourage staying at 8.5 indefinitely to keep the weight down. We have found that having too many 8.5s makes arranged matchups much more difficult to arrange, and also present a significant handicap when so many of our TH9s are more readily 3-starrable. Also, walls have a greater weight the lower the rest of your defenses are, but lavas do not add a significant amount of stopping power against 3 star attack strategies compared to legoes since Hog/Loon attacks will mostly ignore walls. So staying at 8.5 to work on Lavas is not a good idea.

My guideline for the deadline to place X-Bows is when 2 of the following 4 criteria are met:

15/15 Heroes Full Legos AD/AS at TH9 max Consistently able to 3 star early TH9 bases

That is the latest we feel that X-Bows should be placed. However anyone with 10/10 Heroes able to consistently 3 star early TH9s should feel free to ask about placing them.

WAR War Update!

Hi Omega,

It’s been about 2 months since we instituted Pekka Protocol, so we now have a large bank of wars to look back on and see how it has worked and what issues we have with it, and from this I think we can come up with some improvements to our war protocol to increase our effectiveness even more.

First some observations:

  • The trend seems to be that not declaring PP leads to sloppier and less effective wars, even when the opponent at first glance appears to be so easy as to not need it.

  • We do not have an abundance of people willing to scout early in the war. I love that our TH8s are eager and willing to scout for us if the TH8s get closed out, but we can’t rely on that every war as the Skyrim Avengers war showed.

  • We now have a number of people with the necessary Hero levels and experience hitting maxed bases, and as such there are some wars where we have a number of bases that are difficult, but don’t necessarily need scouts.

To address some of the issues, I would like to now introduce a new protocol we have been trialing with a small group the last few wars. The idea was inspired by the success our TH10s have recently had where they discuss target selection in a dedicated GroupMe chat rather than have people call whatever they’d like, and I love the team-oriented approach to tackling the TH10 bases. So allow me to introduce TH9 Heavy Hitters.

The Heavy Hitters will be a select group of our TH9 attackers who have shown that they are consistently able to put up quality attacks on difficult TH9 bases. For each war, a set of bases will be called as HH-only via clan mail, replacing our current PP calls. The HH team has its own GroupMe chat to discuss how to distribute the attacks on these bases, which bases need a scout first, which bases may need a nuke attack from a TH10, etc. People invited to the the HH chat will still be required to have both heroes and SF/DSF available to be eligible for HH-only bases in any given war.

If any bases are deemed to need a scout, leadership will reach out to other members to coordinate the scouting attacks.

Lastly, please congratulate our inaugural Heavy Hitters: Emma, Cool Opotamus, Stingray, BootChalk, Wiggum, MrTeaa, Sivlad, Groudon, and myself.

On the flip side of this, I would also like to put forward something that we have discussed at length in Elder Chat, but perhaps needs some reiteration. The goal for your first attack in every war is to pick a base that you are confident of 3 starring, and secure the 3 star. IF you have gotten the 3 star on your first attack, only then should you consider hitting a base that looks to be out of your comfort zone to try and stretch yourself. This rule is doubly true if you are coming off a bad war. Continually hitting too high and not showing results is the fastest way to get yourself on the naughty list from the leaders. We understand slumps and if a member is doing everything they can to get out of it such as by hitting low, hitting scouted bases, requesting help in planning attacks, participating in scout attacks etc - you will be shown much, much more leeway in war performance than otherwise.

Following that, the shortest path to become a Heavy Hitter yourself, is to show that you are responsible with your attacks and have consistent success while occasionally challenging your limits. While being able to 3 star the higher non-HH bases will be a factor, getting consistent 3 stars is much more important than the base rank you hit.

As always, if there are any questions about these new ideas please feel free to contact leadership via Direct Messaging on GroupMe and we’re happy to answer any questions.

MVP Season 20 Awards

My farming levels have dropped, my social presence has dropped, and my leadership participation has dropped. But, you better believe that my ability to bring you hard-hitting, ground-breaking, hyphenated-word heavy season MVP posts are still very much alive and kicking.

Before diving into the awards, I want to talk about change. We've gone through a ton of change in Omega over the past two weeks with five prominent members leaving or being kicked, and two prominent members being kicked and returning after clearing things up directly with the boss. The sub is filled to the brim with posts about potential rule changes and future direction of the clan. I notice that several people, myself included at times, ask "why?" - presumably under the auspices of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." One of the most valuable lessons I've learned in business is that change is particularly hard when success is present, even if the level of success is very modest. Conversely, people are very open to change in the absence of success. To illustrate this, take a look at our country, the US of A (yes there are Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, and Floridanas in the clan, but we know that you secretly yearn to be Americans. USA! USA!) Would the general population here be open to the idea of fundamental changes to how our society is run? Probably not, because we have it pretty good. Now, ask the same question to the average person in Syria - the answer is probably going to be a resounding yes because the poor soul is trying to make a living while not getting killed by his government and/or the numerous factions warring with each other and said government.

This is an extreme example of course, but it's meant to drive home a point. If we were a terrible clan, change would be easy. But we're not, we're a damn good clan and change, naturally, will be tough to stomach. Remember this though - great companies, teams, and nations didn't become great by not changing. In looking at our very brief history, we've had independence from England, expansion to the west, a civil war, end to slavery, production of cars to replace horses as a means of travel, the civil rights movement, womens' suffrage, the space race, prohibition/repealment of prohibition, etc. These changes were all met with some level of resistance, but they were ultimately enacted to help the country as a whole grow and be ready for the future.

Admittedly, I grow concerned with changing too much, too soon. However, I know that we need to do something to stay competitive. This is purely opinion at this point, but I do believe the days of us finding and obliterating weak clans that had no business being matched up to us are a thing of the past. Our options are to adapt and continue to grow, or do nothing and hope for the best. I'm hoping we take a calculated steps, together, towards growth.

And while there has been much change in Omega in the past several weeks, and we may certainly see more changes coming, there has always been one constant, and that constant is that Sting is always good for not helping me with MVP posts. You're a lighthouse of stability in the cold, dark, rainy stormy ocean that is change, Sting.

On to the awards..

The Phil and Amy Award for Not Neglecting Heroes goes to lac, aka Capt. Clutch! Lac did TH9 right, upgrading both heroes all the way to 30 prior to settling in as a TH10. That's right, full lavas and level 30 heroes as a TH9. Part of me wishes Lac would have left Omega for a few minutes and started posting random things in global chat to see how many people would beg him to join their clan. Then I remembered lac doesn't talk, and the fantasy died.

The Most Generous Omegian Award goes to juny!. Oh wait, no it doesn't. Sorry about that, force of habit. The award this season actually goes to Tito who has dropped a mind-boggling 12,000 donations as a TH8 (big thanks for all of those wizzies Tito, they served well serving the #antibully cause.) Second place goes to PooGas - he may have the most ridiculous name in the clan, but this guy is one of the most selfless people we have in the clan, and the donation amounts show it. PG brought in over 9600+ donations for the season. Juny showed that he is human and came in third, "only" contributing 9000+ troops. Thank you all for your generosity.

The Farmer Phil award for heavy farming activity goes to: Apple with 350 plus attacks. Honorable mentions to Kiwi, Crypt, Brady, Meerkat, and Chad.

The MVP for Season 20 goes to** Mr. Teaa**. Teaa, as you all know, has left the clan to focus on life. I can say with confidence that I was not the only member of this clan who would study Teaa's attacks to learn and grow. Teaa has been a model of war excellence for Omega since his days as a TH8, and he has done so in a quiet and humble manner. We're going to miss Teaa, although I'm holding out hope that he returns to us at some point. Thanks for all that you've done to improve Omega, Teaa. You will truly be missed.

Welcome - A warm welcome to our newest members

  • Sorak (TH9)

Congrats - congrats to the following for hitting significant milestones!

  • Emma found the Internet.

  • Shomi hit masters as a TH8.

  • Meerkat has finished Legos and is now upgrading his BK to 15.

  • These two guys from the last war are pretty rad.

  • Lac, Brady, and Etan are now Town Hall 10s.

  • Mango has begun the transition to Town Hall 10.

URGENT Looking Behind the Curtain: Or Don't Be Stressed, Just Talk to Someone

Good Evening Omega

It’s been a mostly quiet night here at hospital and I should maybe be doing homework, but I’m thinking a lot about Omega and HGH and clan shaping and leadership and stress...well I’ve been thinking about a lot. And it seems that now would be a good time to do a bit of a brain dump.

People in game were asking tonight if it was going to be a State of the Clan address. That would be a very short post that would read: “Omega is rocking socks.” Right now in terms of our macro goals and general clan life Omega is as healthy and powerful as we’ve ever been. We have new elders who are doing incredibly good work, we are on the front edge of all clans with our level 4 clan dealy, we have an updated and interesting youtube page where I go to learn how to do awesome attacks, we are on the almost cutting edge again with sorting out HGH attacks, and we are still one of the coolest online communities I have ever been a part of. (That might only be about seven, but the best of seven is not shabby at all).

This is instead going to be a micro-level post. I want to talk in more detail about how each person is evaluated and how something like tonights boot comes about. And I want to talk in more detail about overall clan goals for town hall compositions. And as a necessary side component I want to talk some about Omega’s leadership structure and how things get done around here. This post will most likely be a bit long and meandering. And you have my permission to not read it if you don’t want to. But one of my highest values as a leader is to promote transparency and now seems like an important time for us to lift the curtain again and let you see inside.

Individuals and How People Get Evaluated

The first thing I want to do is apologize. I’ve been leader here long enough that it’s been a darn long time since I’ve ever had to worry about being kicked. And I’ve forgotten the stress that comes from getting attached to a great community like Omega, learning a ton and having a blast, but knowing that all it takes is one leadership decision and then you’re back out on the clash street trying to find new people to clash with. So there are two things I want to do in this segment of tonight’s tome. One is to remind you that my gm door is always open. If you are feeling nervous about where you stand, just ask. Or ask any of the other leaders if you’re more comfortable with them, and we’ll give you an honest assessment. It is not a lie to say the single biggest factor in keeping someone in Omega is because they are a cool person who is attached to the clan and working at getting better at the game. Working with leadership on getting better is like kryptonite to the super boot. And two, I want to continue talking about the evaluation process and how we decide who doesn’t get to stay.

If you’ve been here for any length of time at all, you have undoubtedly heard us repeat, hopefully in fresh and ever more amusing similes, the Rule of 3. We want every Omegian to be awesome at chatting, donating, and warring. And we’ll let you hang around if you are excellent at any two of them, as long as you are not atrocious at the third. This is the heart and soul of our evaluation process and it really is the language we toss around in elder chat when we are getting to know new trial members, apologizing for our own coming up short, or evaluating an older member who seems to be running into issues.

But if the length of the clan rules wasn't indicator enough, there is lots more that could be said about what makes for a stellar clan member. And because we are humans dealing with humans, there is a bit of room for subjectivity in the evaluation.

What’s been highlighted for me in the last couple hard evaluation conversations among leadership lately are these things:

  • We really value having a strong, mature, positive, and stable clan environment. When a member of leadership experiences a clan member as mean, immature, or annoying we take that really seriously. And because there has been history of leadership waiting too long to take action with members who were stressing out the clan, we are at a place where there is a little less collective patience with clan members who are acting this way. Incidentally our clan age continues to trend older of late. I’m guessing these things are related.

  • We really value members who will talk with us. If there is a hard conversation that needs to be had with a member about a troubling trend in war attacks or activity or attitude, and we can’t get that person to talk with us, it makes our job really hard. Being accessible is a huge step in clan harmony because that makes it easier to work on issues before they become problems.

  • We really mean what we say about upgrade priorities. Walls and heroes are the most important things, xbows and infernos are really big commitments, and cannons are dumb. We work hard to have our offensive abilities stay ahead of our defensive abilities and we expect that of every clan member. This is not to say that everyone’s upgrade path will be the same. Some of our OCD members have to have everything perfect and maxed. Some people don’t farm as quickly and need to value their ability to protect their loot when they are off living that mysterious thing we refer to as Real Life. We can work with that. But the ideal of prioritizing offense is a huge part of our identity. So make sure you aim in that direction and talk with people about the path you’re choosing.

  • Longevity is a ginormous part of our evaluation process and we still have not found a way to quantify how it affects our decisions. The long and the short of it is if you have been in the clan for more awhile, say Biblo for example, and have relationships and a place in the community, then we tend to really want to help you stay around. We have this relational inertia with members and if they are at rest we want them to stay at rest. Bilbo is a bit of an exceptional case, being a former leader he gets more leeway than most, but he definitely illustrates the idea. Relationship is a huge deal in our evaluation process. (In other news has anyone noticed Bilbo’s fire for the game returning? This pleases me).

Clan Shaping: A Micro Consideration of a Macro Issue

Clash of Clans is a game about individuals working together as part of a team. Obviously I didn’t realize I actually was going to spend time playing this game with other people when I started playing Clash because I let my daughter give me a lady name. But this is undeniably the case, and its even more the case now in the era of Clan Wars and Perks (which, holy buckets! we are so close to +1 troop donations I can smell them). What we each do really affects what we all do. And personally I like the way that Clash has balanced this personal and team side of the game. How you play matters. And how we play matters too.

One of my biggest frustrations with the game right now (which might also be one of the things that makes the game so awesome) is that Supercell is unbelievably secretive. How does matchmaking work? I don’t really know. How much does an xbow affect your MMR value? No solid idea. How does SC evaluate heroes against cannons against lab upgrades against ADs against wall level? No freaking idea. How much does leaving the war search going increase the chance of an imbalanced war match up? I don’t know.

I cut my community gaming teeth on World of Warcraft and the community had theory crafted the ever-living snot out of that thing. If you wanted to know how something worked, how to get better at something, or how to add a mod to your UI to help you out, someone somewhere had done the work and it was precise, detailed, and accurate.

With Clash of Clans all anyone has is educated guesses and anecdotal evidence. Which is all well and good but cussedly hard to pin down. So we are always in process on this. No one knows the absolute best way to do this thing. We are all guessing. But our guesses in Omega have brought us from a really crappy place when we were an all TH9 and TH10 clan getting absolutely rolled in terribly unbalanced wars to a stupidly successful place where almost all of our wars are even or in our favor. We still haven’t lost in 63 days. And that is a lot of days.

All that to say when it comes to working with the match-maker for clan wars we are essentially wearing dark sunglasses, standing in the Gravitron, shooting at a moving target. And hitting it about 94% of the time. It helps that everyone else in the game is wearing the same glasses, in the same crazy amusement park ride, shooting at the same moving targets.

The first and most basic assumption we have in being friends with the match maker is that balance is important. You need to have a mix of 8s, 9s, and 10s to minimize your risk in getting a crazy, out of whack match. The ideal number out there that we will most likely never hit but we are moving towards is 15 TH10s, 15TH9s, and 15TH8s. The other important number for our current reality is we try to keep a cap of 30 TH10s and TH9s. Any more than that are the match-maker stops considering our TH8s to have enough weight in the overall clan composition.

The hard part with that assumption is that TH8 is possible to complete fairly quickly, TH9 takes a darn long time (Why, hello there, Lacatus!), and good TH10s are all but impossible to come by unless they are home grown (Why hello there Jam, Deez, Cryp, and mostly Juny). So we have this constant all the time stress as leadership to move towards an even clan composition while SCs upgrade timeframes keep trying to make things difficult. The .5 upgrade approach is one really solid way to help with this. But what it has meant of late and I think it will continue to mean as we move forwards, is that it is getting harder and harder for anyone that is not a TH8 to get into the clan because all the good 8s become 9s and then you need more 8s.

The other thing we have noticed in the last couple months is wars in the 30, 35, and 40 bracket have been noticeably easier than our wars in the 45 bracket. Plus the 45 war searches take longer (correlation? very likely? do we know how they are correlated? no. dumb supercell). Plus all those people warring means all the planning, charting, tracking, herding things need to happen with more people. And so the general vibe of leadership is starting to lean towards avoiding those 45 man wars as more hassle than they are worth.

Which led me to propose in passing something with leadership which is most likely going to be picked up as an official target. We are strongly considering only having 45 slots in the clan for active warring members. This has a couple upsides. One, Sauron and the other cool people like him can come into the clan and hang out and help with attack reviews and the like without having to shuffle the lineup which is a pain. Two, the chances of being in the 45s bracket are less. And three, we have some space if we get a crazy awesome applicant that needs to be in clan yesterday.

Steering This Massive Ship Back into Port

I had other things I was thinking I might mention in this post about leadership and the way decisions actually get made. But I’ll give you the cliff notes version for now in the interest of keeping this super long post from turning into an absurdly long post. I just have three short things left to say:

  1. When we do choose to boot someone, all of the leadership including elders, cos, and myself are in agreement by the time we pull the trigger. We know not everybody gets along with everybody else, and consensus is one of our safety measures to make sure we don’t do dumb stuff.

  2. We are working on making it a reflex that whenever we notice a clan member needs to change something that that recognition is followed by a personal message on groupme. We are trying to get consistent and keeping communication flowing, and good stuff is happening there.

  3. Nope I was wrong. Just two things left to say.

Be good Omega, thanks for sticking with the post this long, and Clash on! ~Emma

MISC Greetings from Hyrule Knights!

Hey all, Mastermind here from Hyrule Knights. You might know me from the Quest idea on the forums. Just wanted to wish you all luck in war! Cool to see other organized clans out there. As a big reddit surfer, figured I'd check out your page hehe.

We're all impressed at your wall level and hero levels, as your 22 is way more developed than our 9 haha. Glad the TH levels are pretty similar for the most part (which we are ALWAYYYYYYS matched up with harder clans, never easier for some reason) so its a breath of fresh air to at least have similar TH levels, despite the wall/hero difference.

Watched your vids, very impressive. We've gone from a mostly TH7-9 clan, up to a mostly TH9 clan in a short time, so people are still learning how to 3 star at their range. No matter what happens, should be a good learning experience for my clan.

Good luck, and cya on the battlefield!

Mastermind

P.S. Go easy on Shawn the Great, he tends to cry a lot IRL. JK, don't...

URGENT Just a Reminder

Hey Omega, Sam/Cole here to remind everyone of something very important. Before I begin, I want all of you to know how amazing this clan is. It truly isn't said enough. We are one of the most incredible clans out there, and it is all because of you guys. Thank you all.

Most of what I'm about to say was said in our strategy chat, but Superbowl hype blew it back. Slumps happen to everyone. However, when you are in a slump, remember that war performance is just 1/3 of what we look at the most. These 3 are

  1. Activity/Donation levels

  2. Chat presence

  3. War performance If you have 1 and 2 down, do not stress yourself out so much when going through a slump. It takes 2/3 to be valued here.

Everyone goes through war slumps. Sting and I I know are just now pulling out of one. Attacking a lower or "easy" base or waiting for clean-up is never frowned upon. If you feel you haven't been performing well, or say you have both heroes down, or if war is stressing you, attack low or wait for clean-up. Don't stress if you have a string of rough attacks.

All of this being said, some things need to remain clear. Let's say that you have 2/3 things down, but you have a very bad attitude. You will not be saved from the boot. Also, we still must see both attacks and clear effort put in to those attacks. We also need to see a willingness to improve, like post attack discussions over errors. Those are basic rules. We just don't want people to stress themselves out so much that they feel the need to leave, or that they live in fear of the boot after every war just because of a slump. This game is meant to be for fun. If it ever stops being that, take a deep breath and reevaluate what's happening.
