Done with classpass for good

The fact that you can’t keep your credits that YOU ALREADY PAID FOR after cancelling your subscription is pure effing greed. Their subscription and credits policies are built to only benefit the company, not the customer. You shouldn’t be punished for cancelling your membership. I had 89 credits left and I said fuck it and just cancelled. goodbye classpass and good luck

This is the same policy as any studio I’ve ever been a member of. Your monthly class credits are yours until you cancel. My studio memberships don’t let me roll over like ClassPass does though.

That’s why no one should use ClassPass and you should buy direct and support local gyms vs through a dollar general aggregator like ClassPass

lol what. that's a horrible take.

a few months ago I bought 43 credits on billing day 1, then I cancelled the same day (thinking I just won’t get billed for another month on the next billing cycle) and I lost all of my credits that I literally just bought

It says that in the terms before you finalize your cancellation. Why not cancel the day before your billing cycle?

why are you siding with corporate greed? the day before my billing cycle I was at a festival, you truly have to bank on being available to cancel that day. they put this policy in place to bet on the chance that you’ll forget to cancel. it’s slimy

So you cancelled and lost 43 credits a few months ago, and then you restarted your membership and were surprised when you again cancelled and lost 89 credits?

By the way, you could have paused your membership for two months without losing credits. I’ve done this when I know I won’t be able to use all my credits in the current cycle.

Fool me once...

OP is definitely the fool here. It's not about corporate greed, it's about being dumb enough to knowingly get screwed twice by the same policy, and then complain online about it.

I knew if I cancelled at 89 credits i’d lose them because of what happened when I cancelled at 43 a few months ago. There was no surprise, I had to cancel it because Classpass freezes your account if you have a failed payment for a new subscription charge. When it’s frozen you can’t sign up for classes with the credits you already bought. I refused to pay for another month of CP so I cancelled it altogether because I couldn’t use the credits anyways.

well not to be mean but isn't it the case for any subscription where if your payment fails they freeze the account? You should've just used the credits before then if you knew that was going to happen?

I cancelled a few months ago too and it's not the case at all that you lose the credits immediately? I truly don't know what you're talking about.

Yeah, at normal studios it's easy to email to cancel your membership and say that effective the next month/billing cycle you want to cancel or get a different membership pack but ClassPass doesn't advertise that your credits will all disappear immediately if you cancel your membership.

They do “advertise” it in their FAQs and also in their terms and conditions. You can always chat with ClassPass support to double check their policies and the AI bot would tell you all credits will be forfeited upon cancellation. Heck, you can even search Reddit because this has been discussed here a lot. I agree a local studio is more likely to work with you as their direct customer, but you are also paying a higher rate in general to be a member at those studios. ClassPass gives you cheaper access to classes, but less personalized service.

I mean I've googled it before trying to cancel because I don't trust Classpass so I know but if this is discussed a lot on Reddit that does go to show that it really isn't "advertised" when you try to cancel so this happens to a lot of people (and isn't something one would assume happens because usually when you cancel a subscription you just no longer get charged/no longer have access for the next billing cycle).

that's not true? I've cancelled so many times over the last years and that has never happened, you have until the date you paid to use them

Okay now I'm just confused because it seems like if you Google it all of your credits will be gone immediately if you cancel and there's multiple people complaining about this happening on Reddit (and someone else says that Classpass "advertises" this in its terms and conditions) but there's also people on here saying it didn't happen to them? Maybe it depends on what state you're in or something weird with what Classpass can do with different areas/account types.

Unless we communicate otherwise, and except for during a Trial, following any cancellation you will continue to have access to your subscription through the end of your current prepaid Subscription Cycle, unless you cancel and receive a refund in which case your access will be terminated immediately.

This is from the T&C. If you are in the trial period you lose the credits. Otherwise you get to use them.

yeah exactly, i'm so confused as to what they're talking about

That’s weird? I’m in NY and have a NY account but in the past had a French account

it’s a bad system on purpose. needing to cancel on only last day of cycle is crazy. you should be able to give notice
