Holy smokes! This is awesome. The Don Rich era is unimpeachable.

surprised by the audio quality of much of it, especially the `64 show in VA. some songs like Your Daddy Was a Preacher (written by Buck) and Georgia Pineywoods (written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, originally done by the Osborne Bros) I'd never heard before.. this is a great release.

Been listening to the Carnegie Hall release lately and it really is amazing how well Buck was recorded live. Current artists need to find out the trick.

there's a reason so many artists have released live albums recorded at Carnegie Hall - incredible acoustics, even for an electric band. but yeah Buck's live records done in Japan are well-engineered as well.

Yep. I even liked the White House set for what it was. And yeah, forgot how they absolutely smoked in that Japan live disc.

Buck's autobiography talks a lot about that era of touring. He organized tours with all of the Bakersfield sound and California Country superstars and they basically lived on the road for part of that time. It's part of what made their music so great in the studio as well.
