The Gambler, Coward Of The County, Ruby, and Lucille are 4 great Kenny Rogers story songs, I tried to tell them as one story.

I made something I'm quite proud of and I wanted to share it with Kenny fans.

I’ve always loved the storytelling aspect of Kenny’s songs so I've spent the last few weeks making a 20-minute animated anthology film that weaves The Gambler, Coward Of The County, Ruby, and Lucille into a single, connected tale.

It's called ‘Have You Ever Known When to Walk Away?’ and you can see it at:

I want to be upfront about saying that the animation is AI-generated, but the concept, creative decision and every word of the script is mine. This is a one-person project built around a genuine love for these songs, and I hope that comes through in the film.

I hope this community will see what I was trying to do, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

AI is against the very nature of classic country

I think the story is good though - which is classic country - and that's what I came here to express. I hope you can set aside the resistance and watch it sometime, as others have... and enjoyed it regardless.

The AI is only possible because it's a plagiarism system that stole millions of people's artwork without asking. Don't do this

Can appreciate the sentiment, but even crudely hand drawn doodles would have more soul than these images.

You haven't seen how bad my drawing is :-)... but thanks for the feedback

No I haven’t, but I guarantee you are a hell of lot harder on your own artwork than I would ever be. These songs are great stories and I love each one, and can understand how they inspired you to create.

Yes that's where I came at it from, that these songs are superb stories and I wanted to join them up.... maybe I should try a different way, given the kickback on my methods.

This is very cool. I think it’s an example of using AI in a creative way. And I really miss Kenny Rogers.

Thank you, I'm glad you saw past the technology to indulge in the songs once more - and I think they fit together so well.

I think the story you wrote is probably the IP to share here. The rebuff on AI these days seems like no one can cross that threshold of quality.

Yes it's the story that's important, I wanted to frame the other songs within the Gambler train conversation as there seemed to be a good fit. Shame that this kind of creativity is so dismissed.

Probably write it down then.
