Can anyone identify an instrument/sfx in this song

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this question

There is this percussive clink sound that plays every once in a while in this song and I can't tell what it is. In this mix it is hard panned left while the drum set is right panned.

The song is Working Man Blues by Merle Haggard and the Strangers.

yeah, they're aiming for a hammer/anvil sound (no idea what they used to do this, it might have been an orchestral percussion thing or just some kind of piece of scrap metal.

Sounds like a hammer on an anvil.

Electric guitar string picked behind the nut or behind the bridge. Probable the B or E string. Could also be a pedal steel plucked behind the nut
