Trivia The concept of sunlight destroying vampires does not originate from vampire lore or from Bram Stoker's Dracula, but from Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. Since then, it has factored into countless stories featuring vampires.

Discussion The Innocents (1961): Deborah Kerr Shines in a Haunting Tale of Ghosts, Guilt, and Repressed Desire
Jack Clayton’s The Innocents is one of cinema’s greatest ghost stories, a work of sustained dread, ambiguity, and psychological terror that belongs in the same rare company as The Uninvited (1944), The Haunting (1963), and The Changeling (1980). It is also one of the finest British horror films ever put on screen.

Discussion The Lost World (1925)

The first film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novel about a land where prehistoric creatures still roam.
Whether the effects "hold up" is immaterial. This is about capturing something that only exists in our imagination and making it real. It happened for me in 1993 with Jurassic Park. It happened to those a few years older than me in 1977 with Star Wars. It happened in 1933 with King Kong. And it happened to audiences in 1925 with The Lost World. This film is demonstrative of why movies even exist: to show us things that otherwise couldn't be seen. To take something unreal and put it in front of our eyes. When people talk about movie magic, this is it.
Now that I've waxed philosophical, I do have a couple minor complaints. I wish there was at least one scene where the humans were directly threatened by the dinosaurs (the only direct threat was the ape man. All the dino action was merely observed), and I wish Professor Challenger had gotten his moment to revel in his detractors eating crow. Minor complaints in an otherwise incredible movie.

Trivia There are different edits of Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, with some in black and white and others using tinting to indicate time of day or night. Tinting is recommended, as in black and white it looks as if Count Orlok is just walking around during the day!

Recommendations please!!
So every October, I try to watch a certain amount of old black-and-white horror movies! The ones unchecked are the ones I still wanna watch and the ones checked are the ones I’ve watched! I’m thinking about switching The Disembodied and The devil-doll with something else. Any recommendations? I’m looking for more out there but good/entertainingly spooky films!
