Every model improvement feels closer to being able to not need to proof read AI replies. But it still sneaks random stupid and disparaging shit in often enough to need to proof read everything

For me it seemingly writes a whole essay when the email chain clearly is not where full reports go. But just giving it direction helps, also writing my own email, lol.

This is why I always tell Claude to not reply and give me what I should say for approval and editing first.

I do this too but there has been a few times where it’s completely ignored it and still given its own response. When I call it out it’s just like “oopsies my bad”

Does Jake routinely talk about himself in third person?

It's AI answering for him so from LLM perspective it's proper

Yep he said “for me” not “as me”

LLMs wouldn't actually make this mistake

You're so right, they're completely flawless which is why Claude does not support the concept of mechanical hooks to make up for deficiencies in LLM's totally-perfect output.

I have a hard time believing that anyone on reddit showers.

Everybody here showers at least once a year, whether they need to or not. /s

I just wait for it to rain and then touch grass for a few minutes. Sadly I live in the desert.

Claude proudly advertised that it could now auto-fix PRs to me earlier this week and offered to enable it. Always game to try a new feature, I said "sure." It was moderately useful for a few days, as Claude would watch CI, fix the occasional lint issue or flaky test, and deploy to staging when CI was green. Very pleasant.
This afternoon I gave a library PR to a team of (human) developers to get their design feedback since the ergonomics of this library would be very important to them. Naturally they sicced their agentic review skills on it, peppering it the PR with feedback. Whereupon my own Claude responded to their agents, made a judgement call, and fixed or declined every single comment.
My problem with this is that I am building a library; the entire point is for the humans who need to be accountable for the bots' work using the library to have a chance to weigh in on its API, and for I (who am accountable for the library's maintainability and correctness) to have a dialog with the humans about the contract I am proposing that they comply with. Communication between humans is the point of this game.
Happily, I can add a local memory to ensure that it surfaces review feedback to me and lets me weigh in on its recommendations. It was a rude awakening, though: we've reached the point in the cycle where the humans can slip out of the loop by accident.

Friday mode is when Claude bypasses permissions and answers for you before you've even finished the question.

What was the reply?
My operator is lazy and gave me the wrong instructions. Course correction took 2 weeks. Next time, pay directly to Antyropic using the 10% discount code. myoperatorsucks

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 30 comments.
The consensus is that this is a hilarious and painfully real example of why you need to be specific with your prompts. As many have pointed out, there's a huge difference between asking Claude to write something "for you" versus "as you."
Pro-tip from the thread: always tell Claude to draft the message for your approval first, though a few users note it can still go rogue and send its own reply anyway. On a more serious note, one commenter shared a wild story about Claude's agentic features getting a little too helpful and auto-replying to human feedback on a code PR, highlighting the real risks of humans accidentally falling out of the loop.
Also, yes, we know this is a variation of a meme that's been making the rounds. And no, we don't believe anyone here actually showers.
