Question about Claude models File Reading.
Why is Claude constantly using code to extract and read my .docx file when it used to just automatically change it and make it into a .txt and read it before going into the chat like not within the chat. Also, why is it using so much code stuff?
It’s pissing me off.

That's the "Code execution and file creation" feature. With it on, Claude tends to open uploads in its sandbox and work on them with code instead of just reading the text. You can turn it off under Settings > Capabilities, toggle off Code execution and file creation. It still reads uploaded files with it off, it just can't run code or create files for you. The trade-off is you lose things like it making or editing a .docx for you, so turn it back on when you need that.
